so did the US not have any alternates on the original team? Just curious why Tasha would have been the first person they called to replace Morgan, or if it was her scores from trials that put her next in line. Either way, she did well and didn't crack under the pressure, good for her.
@tmwalkerm When Morgan got injured, it was supposed to be Alyssa Beckerman who was the next line as the alternate from trials. But Bela thought Tasha was a better pick even though she wasn't even mentioned as an alternate but they ended up letting Tasha go.
@kakumei77 Alyssa was an alternate? Tasha was waaay more consistent and powerful than she was. I mean Alyssa was good, when she was concentrating and focused, which wasn't that often. Tasha was the total package, I'm glad that she got the chance since she never was even in the running.
@tmwalkerm I agree! I think Tasha should have done more difficulty in her routines but I guess it was such a late notice she couldn't change it a lot. But they should have let her do vault in the finals instead of Dawes cause Tasha had a difficult vault as well!
@kakumei77 yeah, Dawes used to be an awesome vaulter, but in 2000 she didn't seem to have the power or the harder skills that the "younguns" had. Don't get me wrong, I love Dom but Tasha had the un-affected-ness that let her just go out there and do her thing without letting the pressure get to her.
Continuing my thought from a previous video: anybody watching at this point knew that Romania came to win and WOULD win gold unless somebody in the audience pulled out a gun and started shooting them. Go Romania!
Bellu doesn't have good memories from Atlanta? Really? So a team bronze, all-around silver and bronze (all three Romanian girls medaled), vault gold and bronze, balance beam bronze, and floor exercise silver medals aren't good memories for Team Romania? Count your blessings, Bellu. Your girls could've gone home empty handed.
@itstheapocalypse For Romania, silver = first loser, bronze = second loser. Belu was unhappy with Atlanta because his team SHOULD have won team gold, and would have if not for several unfixable problems - Romanian injuries, bad draw in the compulsories, and living in the nightclub also known as the Olympic Village. That's why his memories are not good. The three musketeers (Milo, Gina, Simona) should have been able to beat the entire U.S. team by themselves.
@itstheapocalypse Yeah I agree! Okay, so the team gold got away, but winning 8 vs. Russia's 2 and U.S.A.'s 4 (though I will say considering us then, it was a HUGE accomplishment and we honestly didn't complain) is a pretty big achievement. I agree with you, they could've been Belarus. Poor Belarus...I think Svetlana Boginskaya was the last extraordinary thing that happened to them.
as much as I love watching Dawes compete, her bars always look so sloppy because she's bow legged. There's always the space between her hips and her toes that looks messy.
@dmann3g Geez don't be so damn defensive, all I'm saying is that it doesn't look as aesthetically clean as some of the other girls. I'm not questioning their talent in any way shape or form, just stating an opinion.
@tmwalkerm Its not defensive, it's blunt and forcing you to question the things you say. Thats a problem with WAG...fans talk about people being 'clean'..but what they often mean is balletic. It get's annoying to see ppl constantly crediting athletes who happen to have balletic lines, and discrediting those who don't. As a professional dancer, I've seen more than my share of great dancers and technicians dismissed because of lack of balletic lines. I hate to see it happen to ATHLETES even more
All-Around Silver and Bronze (tie)...All 3 members medal!
Vault Gold and Bronze
Beam Bronze
Floor Silver
Yeah...everything was against you!!!
They didn't earn any better, because they weren't any better! They were definately not underscored in the team competition as Belu has stated...especially in the compulsories.
@mrpatriot83 i totally agree. raducan was def. unrightfully stripped of her gold. Amanar, who is technically the aa champ said tht she didn't want the gold medal, she wanted the silver because thats what she earned. that just goes to show u how unfair it was.
The romanian fluffs always made me fall in love :)

@tmwalkerm So should bow-legged girls be kept out of nationals at training camp? 1 by 1, sent home by Marta?

@missmouse35 Not to mention everyone gave their medals back to the original (and rightful) owners.
