  • Savor it. We will likely never see this level of TV writing ever again.

  • Top 5 ending:

    5.Poker/The Lake

    4.Independence Day

    3.Pilot

    2.Growing Up

    1.The Accident

  • I read that one of the reasons the show is not out on DVD is because of the problems getting the rights to keep the various songs in the episodes. This scene wouldn't be quite what it is with any other song in the background. And today's TV, with endless boob and fart jokes, can't even hold a candle to this series. Not even close.

  • @Jeff98177 I agree with you. Problem is, 99.99% of tv is like that. im a '96 kid and didn't get the chance to see this show. Fortunately, my bro in law told me about it and i love it. Its a show i can relate to. These types of shows are(hard to believe) gone.

  • @burnedelitefish We have Disney XD now!

  • Ohhh man is this show missed! It is so great to see that Danica has done something positive instead of becoming a crack head like so many did. This show is the Elvis of TV, people will still remember it 30-40 years down the road. EPIC!

  • this EP and the EP where the Math Teacher dies after Kevin turns in an unanswered exam is classic as well........I think its called "Goodbye"

  • I love this show. I never missed an episode!

  • This is just so beautiful! I wish something like this would happen to me, not the accident. But how Kevin shows up to her window and says I love you. Sad but yet so beautiful! Btw whats the name of the song?

  • @ydalbitch09 We've got tonight - Bob Segar

  • @rrrod411 Seger*

  • winnie THE POOH >:]

  • Bob Seger ftw on this one right here. The saddest episode of the whole series in my opinion. I feel like I can relate to the show in so many ways and I think that's why it is a favorite.

  • I'll never understand the Winnie hate for how she treats Kevin. Her brother dies in Vietnam when she's 12, her parents are overcome with grief and get a divorce, her Dad moves far away then comes back home, then her family moves and she starts at a new school. What teenager isn't going to be bitter and confused with all this? That's the whole point and beauty of the show. Growing up, dealing with problems and knowing through good and bad who your true friends are. Amazing ending.

  • my favorite and only part i remember from of the entire series

  • My favorite episode in the whole series. Brought me to tears.

  • @RullyisJRM Me Too.

  • I love this TV show. But the older I get the more it depresses me.

  • @eveltwin70 why? :S i think you should feel just the opposite way...

  • Greatest show ever!!!! It's on netflix now. Wooohooo!!!!

  • I like the voice of the narrator - I wish I talked like him.

  • I always cry. :(

  • im 14 this episode made me cry...............................they said i love you to each other and they really do..........it made me cry cause i want a relationship like that and a girl like that. :'(

  • @skulllover3323

lol i thought you were a chick this whole time till i read the last part of your sentence haha. jk man

  • Does it get any better than this? Today all we have is shit like Jersey Shore :/

  • dude, he snuck up to peek at her through her bedroom window. Only an 80's chick would find that romantic. Todays woman would call the cops and have you arrested!

  • @ah93704 Two words. Edward Cullen. Except that is ACTUALLY freaky. At least these two have known each other nearly all their lives. They have a connection and a past.

  • Oh my gosh, his face after she said I love you was sooo cute. His eyes lit up so much. <3

  • We all had the "one that got away". That for whatever reason we never ended up together. But still can't let them go.

  • STOP POSTING SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS YOU BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!

  • it's that last part where they put up their childhood pictures and the little flying disk ammo attached. It it hits this memory of being young an innocent, too bad that can't last forever.

  • IM ABOUT TO CRY

  • @EllSieMovies- I concur : ) Recently, I have been watching most of the episodes that are posted, if not all, LOL. I cannot get enough of this show. : ) At some point, we can all relate to this amazing show.

  • This was a very poignant scene, and an example of just how great this show actually was! And still is! BobbyK :+)

  • what season was this

  • best show ever.....

  • To this day I dont know what Kevin saw in Winnie Cooper. What a little arrogant obnoxious bitch.

  • The wonders years was and still is a great show me any my lil bro would stay up late to watch the re runs n have a hard time waking up for school!! So worth it im so glad I was around to have seen this!! Never seen how it ended n like 10 yrs later I get to see it ,life is good.

  • amazing television. Definitely one of the top five scenes of any sitcom...ever.

  • the most heartfelt scene that i have ever seen in any tv show or movie in my life...brings a tear, every time...pure magic

  • This blows any big box office romance out of the water...

  • The 9 ones... go there!!!

  • Forget Beth cooper, its all about WINNIE COOPER

  • I am sure Winnie drives better than Beth! God help us!

  • spechless..

  • Damn ... just ... damn.

  • You know! I wasn't even born around these times, yet I still grew up watching this show! It's amazing ! It's made me laugh && cry && really made me find a deeper meaning to everything! <3

  • The 60s and 70s were a great time when everyone was caring and nice, today's society no one even has a soul, it's so sad!

  • The weird thing about this episode is the Bob Segar song. When the show ended in 1993 it was supposedly 1969 and the song "We've Got Tonight" by Bob Segar didn't come out until 1978. It just ruins scenes when TV show's do this and play some song that doesn't match with the timeframe.

  • @clemsonbloke This season takes place in 1971 (40 years ago) and NOT 1969 which was the 3rd season.

  • @clemsonbloke yeah, but the voiceover takes place many years later..so "Future" Kevin uses that song to go with his memory..haha...

  • Definitely one of the most classic moments EVER on television. Goosebumps, smiles and tears all at once. Well done.

  • i've thought up scenarios where this seger song was playing in the background, but Kevin Arnold took it to a whole new level.

  • I can't hear Bob Seger and not think about this! haha! Love love love it. What a great show :)

  • I love this ending and the song at the end by Bob Segar is so powerful it's impossible not to have a lump in your throat and not get teary eyed. I don't cry that much but this made me almost cry. I'd feel so hurt if a girl that I cared about (probably the only guy who cared for her the most) put me in that position about being in her past that she wanted to forget. The 60's/70's Kevin standing outside would be romantic and caring. These shitty days today Kevin would be a stalker.

  • @618shi

    60s/70s Kevin: Caring

    2000s/2010s Kevin: Stalker

  • This is one of those especially poignant endings! It is a masterpiece, filled with hurt and sorrow but then with joy! I'm glad Kevin wouldn't give up, and had to see Winnie no matter what! Again, I sob like a baby as soon as the Bob Seger song begins! Peace and Love, BobbyK

  • The best show!!!! And the right song for the scene.

  • The song is what makes this scene so amazing.

  • i watch old episodes every now and then and think back to when i was just an innocent kid watching this show! so many good memories, great show, not like the shit they have on TV (if that's what you want to call it) nowadays!

  • i watch old episodes every now and then and think back to when i was just an innocent kid watching this show! so many good memories, great show, not like the shit they have on TV (if that's what you want to call it) nowadays!

  • To Me, It might be the greatest Scene in Television history.

  • @Caksman1027 i agree...ive always remembered this scene..i remember watchin live when i was 21...a 21 year olg guy cryin his freakin eyes out...with my ex who was also cryin her eyes out...man i wish i could go back for a day...

  • @Caksman1027 Top 20 for sure.

  • @Caksman1027 You are absolutely right.

  • whats the song that is played at the end??? please tell me!

  • @MsLoveEternal Bob Seger-We've Got Tonight

  • What Fucking Great Show

  • A perfect song for that moment.

  • This made me cry and only 7 yrs old NY mother made me watch this and I'm 11 now lol she said why r u crying I said that was beautiful :( :(

  • I'd do anything to have a winnie kind of person in my life/past :(

It truly is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. I would rather feel pain than nothing at all.

  • @Deathryzer Bro it sucks so hard losing the girl you thought you were gonna be with forever. It sucks growing and pouring your time and effort into something, just to not be good enough for her in the end. Fuck em.

  • @AustinTCV Yup that is just what love is all about. It is the ration of thought that leads us to one that accepts this love. Don't ever think that it was not worth while unless you were just a fool. Yet, us fools just say that to feel better.

  • @Deathryzer word. I wish had some kind of experience like this during my childhood too

  • You know, Winnie Cooper is a fictional character. Instead of insulting this fake woman, perhaps you should be asking why the mostly-male writers felt obliged to make her such a teasing, distant object.

  • Winnie was a c*nt. She always treated Kevin like shit. I dont know why he didnt drop her along time ago.

  • lolol they never ended up together

    true love is fo suckas

  • One of the best shows. Fred's acting is amazing.

  • Winnie Wierdo..

  • Old love never rusts!

  • WINNIE DE POO juas

  • who sings this version>??

  • @AmericanDragonfan Bob Seger, it is the original version.

  • @bendavis83 whats the name of the song???

  • @WrestlingThemes186V2 "We've Got Tonight" by Bob Seger.

  • There are so few shows on TV like The Wonder Years. I'd forgotten how great that show was until I saw this and a bunch of other clips that others posted. So simple, yet so true and beautifully done. Why Kevin & Winnie aren't listed among one of the most memorable couples in TV history I'll never know. Kevin & Winnie forever.

  • so many long comments O_o

  • I've said it before and I'll say it again... Fuck, Winnie Cooper. Kevin stays loyal throughout and she cheats on him with a guy she ends up breaking up with weeks later. All Winnie does throughout the series is act nice and break Kevin's heart over and over again even in the last episode. Kevin's biggest mistake was letting Madeline go for a girl who repeatedly uses him and says "I love you" only in the moments she needs him.

  • @chicapees But that's how life works, isn't it?

  • @dogbowl1973 God, I hope not.

  • @chicapees i half heartily agree with you but i will never understand winnie character so i don't really hate her. as confusing as her character was, i think winnie herself was confused during her younger days. as she grew up towards the end, she was committed to write to kevin for 8 years so that shows winnie became a better person, and gotten over whatever was troubling her.

  • Why this episode didnt win an Emmy is beyond me. I also love the fact that Danica McKellar, Josh Saviano (Paul) and Fred Savage (Kevin) all are Educated Individuals. I really think that some of These Child Stars could learn from them. Do you guys think that Danica looks like Lucy Hale (Aria) from Pretty Little Liars.

  • I too found this the scene from "Wonder Years" the one most seared into my memory. When "We've got tonight" started up the scene transcended from memorable to legendary for the show. It is so poignant to us because we have lived this moment of loving someone whether they loved us back or not. As the scene rolls in front of us we relive that memory. It is so satisfying because this time it had a happy ending and I love you was answered by I love you.

  • my god!!!!!!! i loved every episode of the wonder years!!!!!!!!! i loved this episode so much.....one of the best and one of the best songs ever

  • 2:40 - picture of Winnie and her brother - nice to see Brian still remembered

  • arent him nd ben savage brothers?

  • @temperbrat Yes they are. In fact Ben Guest Starred as a Cupid on a TWY Episode, and Fred Savage played a Teacher who Sexually Harassed Topanga. Also, their Sister Kayla was on the Soap Opera Santa Barbara for a time.

  • @laminage omg i didnt realize dat in boy meets world his brother played that teacher that harassed topanga..smh i guess its been a lil toolong since that show has been off the air for m to remember dat....thx btw

  • Who the hell can watch this scene and not get a lump in their throat and a chill up their spine? Especially at 3:52 when she answered him back with "I love you" and Bob Seger sings "So there it is, girl".

  • The childhood photo at the end looks more like Ben Savage than Fred. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Although this moment felt nice during the original run of this episode, I can't help but feel that if Kevin Arnold did this during the Generation Z, he'd be labeled a stalker to everyone in his school by the next morning.

  • love the wonder years and winnie cooper

  • The look on each other through the window... priceless!!!

  • *Sigh*....My boyfriend makes fun of me for liking this show, but it's a a part of my childhood. I'm 22 now, and I would love for this to come back. Times were simpler back then.

  • why cant they release this show on dvd?????

  • @fireraven7728 Because of The Music. Many of The Artists insist that if they don't get "Paid", they won't allow the music to be used. That's very stupid because without The Music, the Scenes wouldn't have been as powerful. I cried like a baby when I saw this episode because you saw that the pain that Winnie wnet through had reached it's peak. Her Brother Dying, Her Parents Separation, The Reconciliation, Selling The House, Moving Across town etc.

  • This was the best show!!!!!

  • why they cant make shows like these? this was ART!

  • Such a great episode. I may just really love the show but I think Fred Savage is one of the best actors ever. I don't care how young he was at the time. I've never been more captivated or drawn in by someone on screen. Whether it was sadness, anger, happiness or pure adolescent nervousness, that kid pulled it off in his speech and facial expression.

  • Gah!!! when the Seger starts, I almost lose it every time lol

  • What a beautiful scene. They've been through so much together, but I suppose...It just was't enough.

  • @lavenderblossom looking at it now that i`m 26 i`m actually glad FOR HIM that they didn`t end up together... let`s face it she did put him though hell... ESPECIALLY when they got older, she really treated him like shit

good thing that he was the one who ended up married and with a kid even... and at the same time she returned from Paris the same way she left, alone...

the charcter Winnie started up as an EXTREMELY cute one but as she got older she turned into a girl who was very hard to like

  • This is one of the best television shows to ever be put on the air....

  • I've been trying to find who sings that song ever since this episode aired...

  • @wdsr5 - Bob Seger - "We've Got Tonight"

  • what happened on this 1?

  • every time I watch this episode, I get tears...it was such an awesome show..so sweet, so inocent, so tender love...

Now that I have my own kids I just hope and when the time comes I'm right there with them as they go through so many emotional times....especially when they fall in love

  • Wow now dats true love too bad Winnie always treated him like shit poor guy 

  • @bullstud6969 That is so true. She DID always treat him like shit. He loved her so much too.

  • @bullstud6969 that's true, that's one of the reasons I never truly got to liking Winnie that much.

  • Comment removed

  • What makes this relationship so interesting is that there seems to be this dark side of Winnie, which makes it so hard for Kevin to get through to at times. It has this way of captivating the audience during the times when Kevin actually does connect with her.

  • y dey didnt end up together??

    y?

    y?

  • @Joerotty What is the song that plays at the end?

  • @joeywdn It's Bob Seger, "We've Got Tonight."

In fact, that's kindof what brought me to this video. Even though I haven't seen this show for over 10 years, I remembered this scene exactly, because it struck me so deeply. Someone mentioned The Wonder Years and right away I told them that my favorite scene ever was when they told each other "I love you" as Bob Seger crooned in the background while Kevin climbed on the roof, and I knew I had to find it. Just like I remember, and still makes me cry.

  • Does anybody know about a television show that could be as nice as this one? I haven't heard of any... if any... How is it possible? Even Alf is way better than nowadays shows. Are we going backwards?

  • Comment removed

  • tear to a glass eye ladies and gentleman... tear to a glass eye

  • One of my all time favourite shows that captures what it was like back in that era.

As a grown man I would tear up on occassion watching this show.

The song at the end however was written and released in 78 which is about 6-7 yrs after the year depicted in this episode.

  • Unfortunately i can't feel anything about this ending because 9 episodes earlier Winnie used the "I met someone" line & broke Kevin's heart. Just completely takes away everything that this moment should be thinking that she did that

  • @PackerSmacker4 He hurt her too! You have to remember, they're in junior high. This scene illustrates how bewildering and painful Winnie's life has been since her brother was killed. She's making bad choices but her feelings for Kevin are still there beneath all her confusion. It's perfect. They're not perfect. They're kids and they're going through hell. But they do love one another.

  • 1:29 he looks EXACTLY like ben savage

  • Prolificness .

  • Incredible. The writing, the acting, the music. It's as close to perfect as TV can get.

  • The 5 idiots who disliked this, please go jump off a bridge.

  • @vio2112 Since you typed that, three "heroes" went down there looking for them...

  • ATTENDION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The Wonder Years is on back on u.s tv...the hub channel(formly known as the discovery kids).....AAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!

  • @fab4fan5

I know! I just watched an episode tonight and I was so super excited to see it on television. This show is so amazing and this moment has stayed with me for so long that I am glad that I was able to find it on youtube!

  • there is not another show that even comes close to the amount of times I cried watching this show. it is a truly amazing series. I've been waiting and waiting for a DVD Box set, but have heard the rights to the music are very costly. It's too bad. I would love to relive this stuff. Beautiful. I can't put into words what I felt watching some episodes. Always so sad-happy.

  • One of the best scenes in the history of TV period.

  • WIN. The Wonder Years kicks copious amounts of ass.

  • whats the song thats playing??

  • @dides16 We've Got Tonight by Bob Seger

  • At the 2:49 mark, one line sums up the brilliance of the entire show: "There are things in a life that matter."

  • @ehings12 my favorite line in thisscene. " There are things in a life that matter" and of course I love 2:00-:01 when the piano starts and We've got tonight starts playing....a classic example of how music makes everything better. more poignant.

  • This is absolutely TV at it's best...If this doesn't bring a tear to your eye, then I don't hold out much hope for you.

  • It breaks my heart to know that when i am a mom my children will be watching tv shows that don't really have any lessons or teach moral values that shows like the wonder years did.

  • @thedisneygirl1234 - you are soooo right. Fortunately, many of these truly positive tv shows are available in assorted formats and I make certain my children watch them. We also get involved in assorted volunteer efforts so they understand there's more to life than is portrayed on so many shows these days. Best Wishes & Peace Always To You.

  • That song just ruins the entire scene.

  • @insaneweas you are absolutely crazy if you think that

  • @insaneweas how does it ruin it?? you dont like dirty Segar lol. No really - I think its what makes it..

  • The cost of securing the rights to the original music has the hopes of the series being sold on DVD on hold. And I believe this episode took place before the museum episode.

  • They were so young when this was on. Amazing! Just sweet, though.

  • I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!! I LOVED THIS SERIE!!!! gosh.... it touch my heart.....every time that i see it

  • God this scene gives me goose bumps

  • Does this take place after the episode at the museum?

  • Winnie looked so pretty there.

  • Awwww. I CRIED SO MUCH. . . That true love. I think I was born I the wrong generation. . . .

  • @LACL671 same here

  • Her reaction is priceless.

  • This is one heart wrenching scene that I cannot watch without feeling pins and needles all over...The best writing and directing on any TV show anytime.

  • Great show. This is just one of many fantastic scenes. Unfortunately, this scene is also a perfect illustration why this show will not be on dvd any time soon. Imagine this scene w/out the Seger song. But, copyright for all the music is too expensive. And it should not be released w/out the music which was a character of the show, really. Nobody's fault b/c nobody could've known 20+ yrs later people would want to buy old tv shows. Back then only movies sold well...on video tape mind you!

  • beatyfull song of Bob Seger

  • This show was on when I was super young and this is the only scene out of the whole show that I remember.

  • awwwwww stalking

  • I never missed an episode when I was a kid....they caught the power of first love perfectly each week! Haven't seen another show do it better yet!

  • type into youtube 'austin powers mole' and its kevin

  • i am sad to tell you that there will never be wonder years on DVD, because the producers don`t have the rights to play the songs on DVD and without the songs the whole show cannot be released....sorry for my poor english.hope you are able to understand what i mean

  • Nowadays, kids are a bit more savvy and are browsing /b/

    ROFL!!!!!!

  • One of the most emotional scenes i have ever seen.. Thank you for posting

  • One of my fav. episodes!!!

    Thanks for posting :-)

  • I'd rather not having it in dvd, than having it without the songs. Every song in TWY has a meaning and a purpose. Not even compared with nowadays shows.

  • Wow. This is one of the best scenes of any series. When "We've Got Tonight" started playing, it sent chills through me. Are there any shows like this for kids these days? It's interesting how when watching this as a kid, and now watching as an adult, the show still delivers. It has somethings kids like as well as adults. That, I think, is a sign of a really good story. It's liked by everyone. I wish they show this on TV when my kids are growing up also.

  • @HectorDaBull I know how you feel.I was around Kevin's age when this was in the late 80's.My family & I used to gather around the tv & eat supper while this show was on. I always called The Wonder Years, a tv show, that was kid tested, Parent Approved, even tho it really wasn't, just felt like it was. I was going through simular things kevin did at that age & because my Parents grew up in the 60's, they could relate to it too.I really appreciate the time I grew up in now as a grownup.

  • I didn't really have these kinds of experiences/emotions growing up. After a certain point, I turned into an unemotional robot and haven't turned back since then. And if the Wonder Years is a good representation of what "normal" people go through when they grow up, then I'm glad that I have a robotic personality.
