  • Can't wait for The Masque of the Red Death scene!

  • Sherlock Holmes 3, starring John Cusack

  • This movie could go either way. The director did V for Vendetta, which was much more than an action flick, and Ninja Assassin.... It all depeneds on whether or not they wrote a script that functions as a real mystery in the Poe tradition or used his stories as gimmicks for gory scenes. Cusack's involvement is promising.

  • Simply amazing. Poe's stories are amazing. I also found the Raven unofficial soundtrack that was on youtube last night. Can't wait for both!

  • First he waters down Alan Moore's awesome graphic novel and now McTeigue is going to dumb down Edgar Allan Poe's classics. The man needs to be stopped.

  • Wanna watch it sooo bad!

  • Poe's Raven in movie.... hmm.. it looks differen than I could imagine, but mayeb it will schoked me.. gonna check it when it will be in the cinema

  • @WarriorOfDream Well it's not precisely about The Raven. It is based from some of his other most famous writings too. Regardless I'm deff gonna go see it.

  • No offense to the makers of the movie but I think I liked this trailer better the first time watched it....when it was called "Sherlock Homes"...

  • FUCK....YES.....

  • I think it looks great! I would gladly put this in the ranks of jack the ripper in from hell. cant wait! :)

  • Poems of all time, yet he is far from being one of the greatest poets of all time. Shakespeare, Dickinson, and Milton are recognized as some of the greatest poets. Poe is far more recognized for his short stories then his poetry.

  • First off, Poe didn't go mad or depressed until the death of his wife, Poe only married once, and died shortly after. Second, none of this really happened. This is a fictional account based off all of his mystery stories. Third, Poe is not considered one of the greatest poets of all time, but one of the greatest short story authors. He is accredited for founding the mystery and thriller genres, and for creating the format of the short story. He is also accredited for writing one of the greatest

  • @Cursed13HAHAHA To add to that, he also basically founded the horror/gothic genre as well. Edgar Allen Poe is one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait to see this in theatres.

  • @723hope actually the founding of horror is accredited to H.P. Lovecraft and the founding of the gothic genre was accredited to Horace Walpole. Edgar Allan Poe is accredited with the founding of weird fiction.

  • Oh man this looks gory xD But I'm a fan of Poe's works and this seems pretty doggone interesting.

  • 1:38 Edgar = Batman

  • I doubt a man as depressed as Poe would have the energy to jump out of bed and run around solving mysteries.

  • So many wannabes in the comments...

  • I love Poe's stories. DEFINITELY seeing this.

  • Last I heard it comes out March 9th

  • LUKE EVANS <3

  • Can they just make a fucking biopic that incorporates the stories as an on-screen representation of Poe's descent into madness?

Oh, wait, that would be expecting too much from Hollywood...

  • Holy MO FO my fave author... Coming back to life into one of his most famour poemz ♥ ... This is going to be an AMAZING movie!!!! :D

  • I'm reading about Edgar Alan Poe!! Really interesting! Thanks for posting! Does anyone know the date where this comes to theaters?!?

  • the black cat was fucking weird.

  • im learning about edgar allan poe and i love him so i MUST see this movie

  • EDGAR ALLAN POE <3

  • Does anybody know when it hit's theaters?

  • @MachdieAugenzu1721 Judging by the release of the trailer I say November-December Most likely December because maybe they are going to release than because in the poem it's suppose to be december

  • how bout u watch who u talk to punk LOLZ

  • Ahhhh oh my god!!!! Im so excited!!!!!!! Can't wait!!! I've read every single Edgar Allan Poe short story!!! Can't wait to see which ones are in the movie!!!!!! XD :3 :3

  • YO U FAGGOTS WHO DONT LIKE THIS MOVIE GO TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!OBVIOSLY U HAVE NO TASTE.EVERYONE IS ALL WORKED UP ON THOS DRAMA,LLUV SEX MOVIES SO CUT THE KRAP THIS IS TRU ART!!!!!!!!!!AGAIN NO TASTE!! i m eleven ;)

  • @sprinkleicious Really? Watch your language, learn how to spell, learn how to type, and go to school to learn grammar. Also, I seriously doubt that you have read and/or understood and of Poe's works. And chill with the caps.

  • don't u think its weird that almost every woman poe loved died...................hmm i wonder.....

  • i felt like puking when they pulled a freakin watch outta that persons mouth........

and i also feel bad for poe, he had a sad life.

  • Hows a RAVEN like a WRITINGDESK

  • LOL does 1:46 remind anyone else of Kill Bill?

  • wait... did this really happen to poe? was he involved with some murder case? i thought he was just a dark eerie writer with psychological issues.

and when you hear that a movie called "the raven" is about poe, you'd think it was an adaptation of the actual poem.

  • @littlemykey3000 the official synopsis says it a a fictionalized acount of poe's last days.

  • This has a lot of promise; of course Poe's stories are beautifully rich. However... I don't know how I feel about one of the greatest poets of all time being turned into, more or less, an action flick. Might have been better if it was just adaptations of his stories, but... we'll see.

  • I wish I looked like that when I was 13!! (:

  • Oh, I got goosebumps at the end! This looks so fantastic!

  • this looks so intense!!!!

  • This looks totally sick. Want see now.

  • At least, his wife wasn't played by some underage nymphet. Although that wouldn't be far from the troth.

  • @Fireismysoul wait. Guess it's not so much of a secret anymore...

  • We watched this trailer in my reading class today! xD it was amazing! we are secretly planning and after school field trip to see it when it comes out! haha!

  • Blatently the killer is Poe himself.

  • I hope he says "You just got Poe-nd" at some point.

    Kickass.

  • @MrFunsocks ahaha, MrFunsocks i really wish i knew who you are so that i can give you a high five for that clever comment you got there. and additionally an outstanding username.

  • 00:29 and 00:36 MY GODMOTHER, FRIEND AND GREAT ACTOR :))))))))

I had to share this with world :D :D :D

  • @kireilekach is that when this movie comes out; March?

  • This looks AWESOME! Man! Can't wait for March.

  • Obviously the detective is the killer

  • Comment removed

  • @kelly2charmin Hahaha, i was going to say the same thing. 3:1 odds the detective is the killer.....

  • Alan Wake in the past :D

  • Cusack is in it? Say no more... I'm already looking online for tickets!!!

  • wow that trailer was freaking amazing! lol music was great too, i really hope this is a good movie ((:

  • anyone know the music they use?

  • if the killer is a monkey I might walk out. But secretly I hope it is.

  • I love Allan Poe and this is my favourite kind of film... Im excited to watch it!

  • Poe was the first poet I ever enjoyed reading, and remains my favorite poet to this day. It'll be interesting to see how this movie turns out.

  • i just saw the whole movie in those 2 minutes and 12 seconds. I might watch it though.

  • Looks like it has a lot of potential! I remember, The Pit and the Pendulum was the very first Poe short story I read, so that particular part stood out to me...

  • no thx

  • The pit and the pendulum the original saw.

  • Fun fact: Poe married his cousin.

  • I'm there!

  • To view a great poe short: paste in

To view a great Poe short: Type in

    Oysters & Pearls - A Modern twist on Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart"

    Enjoy!

  • It's like if Shakespeare in Love was a murder mystery

  • @mistamistaladyisdead ...no its not?

  • @OprahIsMyGod A famous author who was actually a messed up person is represented as a good looking hollywood hero starring in a fictional plot where what he writes becomes what he's actually living. The only difference between this and Shakespeare in Love is like I said, this is a murder mystery.

  • pfffffff this blows they give the whole godamn movie away.

  • @sundersart anyone who has read EAP's work has a humongous idea of what this movie will entail.

  • As someone who has extensively studied and enjoyed Poe's work, I'm really excited to see this. To the people complaining about the misrepresentation of Poe - this movie is clearly an homage to his work, not him. His "character" is obviously not supposed to be the literal Poe, but rather the implied author (or potentially even the reader-as-Poe). I like that the story is something other than a biography or a recap of his short stories. This has the potential to bomb, but also to be artistic.

  • @cloudedreason I really really hope you're right! I'm massive Poe fangirl too and five minutes after discovering this film I'm completely torn between abject indignant horror, and excited optimism. I don't know which one to settle into >.<

  • @TheRaevyn Only one way to find out I guess. This looks like one for the theaters for sure though. I'll probably splurge for the big screen, for better or worse. I guess going in hopeful and skeptical at the same time is safe?

....nah fuck it, I think I'll just be excited. If it's a let down, it at least can't be worse than what Nic Cage did to Wicker Man.

  • what the hell is this nonsense?

  • Pilot episode of Castle anyone?

  • i would have liked to see christopher walken as the insaine lead

  • I hope this movie is as over the top as it looks. If it is I might really enjoy it. If not, and they go really serious it will probably be lame. But i don't know

Wasn't Poe British. Either way, John Cusack is still awesome.

  • @ChurchOfMe93 Poe was American.

  • @Butter89cup Thank you, I'd forgotten.

  • @ChurchOfMe93

    Lol Poe was an American...

  • So, what's next? A film about Kafka, who can turn into super-insect and kills the villains?

  • Whether or not you think the movie looks "historically accurate" is besides the point. Movies are made to entertain and excite us, hence why directors and actors and screenwriters take artistic liberties.

  • @bswichte Why put Poe in it at all then? That will silence the critics. As it is, it's a stupid idea.

  • This looks awful. The fact that the trailer has 140 likes is just downright depressing. The fact that this has a March 9th release date should tell you that it's going to be garbage. They should have just gone all out with the absurdity and have Poe slaying zombies or vampires. Or come up with an original idea that wasn't Sleepy Hollow meets Castle.

  • @fizzygillespie Your basing a movie based off of the number of likes it got? Are you fucking retarded?

  • @masterdaddy0 What the fuck are you talking about? I said the fact that 140 people think this looks good is depressing. I'm saying that people should be smarter than this. Apparently, they're not. And if you're going to call me retarded, get your "you're"/"your" right.

  • @fizzygillespie What does the release date have to do with anything? It's obvioius from the trailer that the movie is already, or is almost already, completely finished. Just because they were able to keep production under wraps doesn't mean it's going to be crap.

  • This looks promising.

  • Castle's pilot written all over it!!

  • Most people associate Poe with horror that they tend to forget that the bulk of his writings were humorous.

  • Mustaches and beards are not the same thing. I never would have posted this comment if I didn't know what I'm talking about. I'm a Poe impersonator, for shit sake. I do a one man Poe play. This is fact. Poe had a mustache, and he only had it in the last year of his life. HE NEVER HAD A BEARD.

  • thank god no one told Tim Burton

  • I'm glad they're finally making films based on Edgar Allen Poe and his work...And although I don't really like John Cusack as Poe (I've always imagined Johnny depp or Orlando Bloom), I am nonetheless excited for this.

  • @Dank951 orlando bloom would have been a great choice, agreed.

  • I'm not hating, but why would they fictionalize his life like this? Edgar's life was so tortuous, morbid, and intriguing, they should just make a high-budget flick about that, not some fictitious flick that disrespects, in my opinion, his incredible memory.

  • This is horrible. Where in the hell is the southern accent? Poe grew up in Virginia. He NEEDS a Southern accent. And he NEVER ... I repeat NEVER in his life ... HAD A BEARD OR GOATEE OF ANY KIND.

  • @MrDabblehand

never have a beard? google edgar allan poe and click on images.

  • @MrDabblehand Better no accent than an English one.

  • @MrColigings LOL! Thank you! I'm glad Burton didn't make this, otherwise, Poe would have a British accent.

  • @ksb78 And played by Johnny Depp.

  • @MrDabblehand I'm sorry, but just because you grow up in Virginia doesn't mean you have a southern accent. I live in Virginia and I don't have a southern accent. And yeah, Poe may have lived 200 years ago but again, that doesn't mean he had a southern accent.

  • Quote the Raven nevermore

  • Oh my Goth, wanna see this so bad! It seems like I've been waiting my whole life for a movie like this! I know this will be a masterpiece! It'd be even better if they would release it on Edgar Allan Poe's 203rd birthday on January 19th!

  • john cusack is the new nic cage

  • This looks really good!!!! Did this really happen to Edgar Allen Poe??

  • @nice678900 Oh, wow.

  • @nice678900 No. No, it did not.

  • Looks great. I'm there!

  • Oh thank god, another uninspired action movie. Thanks Hollywood.

  • Thank god it isn't in 3D! This looks like one to see in the theaters!

  • @evilaelf Why does it matter? If you dont like 3D, then dont see it in 3D.... Some of us like it

  • @TheLivingIn3D My theater normally doesn't offer a choice between the two. If it was *filmed* to be shown in 3D, then that is another matter entirely and I have seen some awesome 3D movies (My Bloody Valentine and Avatar).

  • @evilaelf ohh. well this looked like a "made for 3d" movie

  • Maybe that´s why he became an alcoholic

  • I love John Cusack and I love Poe! What more could I ask for?!

  • Looks like Basic Instinct, Se7en, and Saw rolled in to one..Which is awesome btw!

  • Looks sweet! Count me in!

  • Edgar Allan Poe, action hero?

  • This looks magnificent! John Cusack is the true Poe! I cannot wait to see this beautiful beautiful movie! I love you Johnny C!!!!!!!

  • This movie looks awesome i cant wait until it comes out. Edgar allan poe is one the greatest poets of all time!

  • So f-ing cool! Cant wait for this

  • Cusack is one hell of an actor which is reason enough to go see this. The fact that he is one of the most amazing American social heroes of our time makes me even more excited to see it!

  • I am excite <3

  • Hell yeah!

  • MUST WATCH !

  • John Cusack? Count me in!
