@Finarien5 You're incorrect about it being 'composed' only 20 years earlier. In fact, it's an ancient pagan song which became a koliada with the advent of Christianity (instead of being sung at Summer Solstice). As the melody wasn't consistent from region to region in Ukraine, it was 'arranged' in this - the most commonly known - version now. Please take a look around YouTube & you'll find various traditional renderings of it. Cheers!

This is the original ukranian version. An enlish man wrote english lírics over this song aroun 1936.
But this is the original song composed some 20 years earlier.
