@mig515 Companion cube helped us solve all those puzzles and stood in front of us protecting us from plasma balls. It stood by our side all those moments we were thinking how to solve the puzzle and cheered us on with its presence. If it could talk, im sure it would have said: "Go on without me, its better that atleast one of us survives." And then we had to euthanize him to pass.

Then just type in ent_create_weight_box and sacrafice that box instead. But then you have to kill the companion cube anyways because it will die in the particle field before the chamber lock.

i think the reason players get emotionally attached to the cube is because while playing portal, one gets a sense of being extremely isolated, and when one is isolated, one grows emotional attachments to inanimate objects. because you cared so much for the cube and took so good care of it, it makes people sad when they say goodbye :(
