    >you made this

    THANK YOU MISS! :|

  • My father read me Rudyard Kipling as a child. This was always my favorite story. I haven't spoken to my Father in over 10 yrs, wish we could put our differences aside I would love for him to read these stories to his Grandchildren.

  • Thanks fortakingthe time to share that story -I love some of your favourites up on your site - "the dog Door" is even better than a cat flap - and from me that's saying something!

  • I love the way the cat's mannerisms so akin to a real cat's -- the lashing tail, the licking the shoulder, the stretching and whatnot. Very amusing -- great job.

My brother's cat, Shamus, is quite the opposite of most cats. He's more like a dog than a cat. I'd wager we could train him if we tried!

  • I had a video when I was a child with this story one, as well as the elephant, the rhino, the armadillo and the jaguar. I loved these, they were so magical and interesting. And the animation was brilliant. Thanks for uploading this. xxx

  • @MissJeVeuxUnAventure Hi Sheila, this is my new Youtube account. I just wanted to let you know in case you thought you'd lost a follower and thanks again for your quote on my other snow video, it was really sweet of you. And even though these cartoons are from my childhood, they're still as fun to watch now I'm 20 too! xxx

  • boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • this is sssssooooooo old

  • Hi, thanks for the video, I used to watch these as a child, but I am sure they were narrated by someone else, a very english sounding male voice, were they ever narrated by anyone else or was it only this voice over? cheers!

  • @propellerwellington

Thanks for telling me you watched this series - it's always nice to know all those drawings were not in vain! My version up on site uses my own Guide Track done by my friend Sylvia Wesh - however when the BBC bought the series they re- dubbed the voice with that of Michael Horden - the guy you remember. Have looked at you site and fine your video on"the Kreuger" very strong-well done!

  • @propellerwellington I also watched this as a child! i was just looking for it again, and i'm so glad i found it. i wanted to see the excellent and interesting animation again! I love the artwork, it's so creative. I love that cat! This film really helped me to understand and respect my cat as a child.

  • thank you so much for posting this ! i have not seen this since i was in school!

  • Excellent animation! I enjoyed this tremendously.

  • Me and my class were shown this in English, we were learning about Just So stories

  • I hope you and your class enjoyed it - Kipling is a bit Victorian to get your head round - but he's fun in a surreal, informed sort of way. ..and his themes are timeless. Good Luck with your project.

  • I don`t get this

  • I use to have this on VHS when I was young. I would love to have this again. :(

  • My whole family used to love this so much!

  • amazing... brings back such wonderful memories

  • Another interesting this is that the Russian film, which is 70 minutes long, only "covers" the first 6:30 of this film! But of course, it doesn't focus only on the main story...

  • It's incredible how differently the subject matter is treated compared to the Russian film, particularly the Singing Magic and the animals' responses which are shown to be so nice and benevolent. The song is a light hymn rather than the dark and primeval version in Garanina's film.

The cat's character is also very different: he is independent, but angry and not elegant. In fact, he's pretty much the villain of the film!

  • (or at least, the closest thing that the film has to a villain)

  • I value your comments -thankyou.He is the villain - I based him on my cat at the time-who was a female ,As they say Dogs have masters, cats have servants. Could you please send me the names of other films by Garanina. Do you animate yourself ? -or are you a Student of Animation History ?
