the spanish are the living people in part hold the moors wisdom in there blood, so nothing has been lost. The modern Spaniards are none other than a blend of blood from all over the world. So its obviously stupid to reject any of those cultures, so why are the fact ignored. My guess they are only ignored because of political reasons, what is beneficial for a land is not governed by the clothes of the culture that brought it.

Islam ruled the region for centuries, mixing the Germanic natives with the Berbers across the strait producing the moors. And my other half? Actually, that kind of horrific behaviour happens world-over, regardless of religion. In Islamic nations however, the religion simply provides an immediate justification for some individuals - i.e. it is a behavioural/psychotic problem, not something innate in the religion. Where Christianity did indeed in the past allow for the justification of torture, slavery, the murder of women by their family - the bible has been more vulnerable to being re-written than the qu'ran, so false dichotomy...

This programme was made by Channel 4 a channel for "minorities" for which the British taxpayer pays. It was made at the time when the Head of Religion and Culture was a Pakistani Muslim with a British passport. I remember a series of programmes designed to show the beauties of Shariah Law . I'm not kidding!!! At the same time there was another series presented by a Somali, funded by Gulf Arabs which tried to show that the Spaniards had a wonderful time under the Muslims (like the Indians!!!)

It happens that a conquered people like the Berbers flourish in a third country. This has often happened throughout history.
I myself think that the combination of Arabs, The Quran and Shariah Law have relegated the Amazigh to the culture of 7th century Arabian desert. And the importation of so many African slaves did not help.

The Spanish inquisition was started to help create a consolidated 'Spanish Catholic' identity, for easier governance, which didn't really exist without the combined campaign of crown and church, the Inquisition and the expulsion of moors and jews were just a few facets of that effort. Nothing is owed, you fail to make the semantic distinction between 'responsible for' and 'yet to be paid for', which you did imply - 'they OWE Muslims big time'.
