FF13 took 6 years to make, and it would have taken a few years longer if they put towns into it, imagine how long ff7 remake would take? also they only got one chance to remake it, so they are probably waiting until better technology is available. I love final fantasy and they should make this game! I mean it would of course take a while but its not like they would need to make a new story, they've got it all right here! to be honest i think they are making in secret. because i heard that since 2007 a small team in square enix has been woking on a unannouced title right around the time crisis core and the tech demo came out. and i think its is in secret because if square never wanted to do a remake, why make a tech demo for a remake? @Lazar3451 square is very secretive they could have started it years ago during adventure children or before then , if rockstar can create a grand theft auto each year which contains big cities and tons of detail , square can create ff7.

I saw a copy of the game in decent shape behind glass at my local The Exchange store for $30 and I would consider paying another $25 for a used PS1 just so I could play one of my favorite games again that I stupidly sold along with my PS2 and a ton of games for Christmas money one year. Well maybe it wasn't stupid cause I wanted a nice X-mas for my family but I still shouldn't have gotten rid of that game. I still have my memory card with my original save from five years ago...yes!!

If they do remake this game with voice acting i just know that they will do what they did in Kingdom hearts where some of the dialogue is spoken but most of it will be in text mainly because there must be about a billion lines in that game lol
I support you in the endeavor to have a Final Fantasy Remake! Square Enix said they want to remake the game, they just want to get everyone back! If I might make an opinion, I think the guy who played Luke Cage in Spider Man Web of Shadows would be a great Barret.
I've never played Final Fantasy 7. I've always wanted to, but these days, it's impossible to find the game in stores, or even flee-markets and Yard Sales.
I would definately support the idea of a remake, even if it's just for playing the game for 1 day.
They re-released it for PSP and PS3 (insert random nintendo fan-boy begging for a wii/ds port) so that could be a hint right there. plus the last cutscene of crisis core gives a hint. Cloud wasnt an emo, he was much more tough. He had a personality crisis, but i dont think he was soo touchy-feely-internal. I also didnt like how AC made them so neutrogena clean either. I always imagined oil-on-their-faces with battle damaged armor...
And Cloud wasnt always so androgynous. That was squall and tidus, not cloud. I also didnt like the KingdomHearts treatment of the ff7 characters...
True the AC Character is always feeling bad for himself like a damn citten. In the game Cloud was badass and cared little about his surroundings, this was not what i expected.
i mean i think AC is enjoyable if you turn your mind off and marvel at the animation. Its flashy eye candy w/ a touch of nostalgia for the long-time fans, like me. But if actually USE your brain while watching, you soon realise they emo'd cloud and cleaned up the party, turned the turks into scooby and shaggy, made reno and tseng invincible (didnt both of them die... tseng more than once now??) and didnt even respect the established lure like materia behavior. Barret in fishnet wtf!? lol...
Actually, reno and tseng dying were mistranslations. kinda like aerith being called aeris in the original game. they had quite a few mistranslations in that game, but that's the price of greatness. FFVII FOREVER!!!
i'd buy a ps3 for it, but i still have low hopes about the quality of such a game. I dont think it'd have the gritty look, the characters would be more similar to AC's version of them than the original. They would attempt to make it 'beautiful' like they did ffx. They would ham up the story and make it either more sappy or more family appealing. It would have that ENIX factor. And does anybody really believe they wouldnt heavily revamp the combat and gameplay?
i agree with you for the most part it was the first game i ever played and holds a special spot in meh heart.. however i didnt like the spin off games at all.. Anyway, either Square is not interested in such a project OR its already in development under secretly dark wraps. no point 'begging' and forcing them thru pressure. there will be one if they feel like it. if they listen to the fans. to gamers. or just to the sound of yens, euros and dollars.
Actually Kitase specifically states that hes really interested in it and that he would love to do it, with the original core team. He doesn't want to do it without the core team. Sakaguchi, Kojima, Nomura, Naora and Uematsu. Those who follow closely to this, only 3 of those work for square atm, and all three are working on Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII, or a KH game. So, until the FFXIII series is completed, and KHs currents are finished... dont expect a FFVII.
And also to note. Square Enix President Yoichi Wada stated that FFVII Compilation will be active and developing until the 20th anniversary of FFVII. Thats another 8 years. Don't worry, a FFVII remake is bound to happen. As well as continuations of the story line and various spin offs like Dirge and Before Crisis.
so, is ff7 worth remaking? well, why not? a lot of movies are remade and nobody complains. a lot of ideas are stolen and recycled into new stuff that in the end is just more of the same, and people like it. so why not remake a game that is actually WORTH being remade? that people WANT it to be remade? Square would be a fool not to... I know I would want to play it.

It took about 15 years for a 3D FFIII and FFIV remake,
there's still FFV and FFVI that should be considered before FFVII, both better games in my opinion. So yeah, Its only been 10 years, the games not even that old, doesn't need a remake yet.
All it proves is that square-enix can milk this game and produce mediocre games that idiots like your will buy just because FFVII is slapped on the logo, apart from FFII, I enjoyed the other FF's a lot more than this.

They get remade because they have been remaking 1-6 since they switched to other platforms and, for those who have not played 1-6 on the earlier consoles can do so, yes they may get more for Final Fantasy VII BUT hey, thanks to PSN you can now download Final Fantasy VII for I think 10 bucks or something which is another reason why they wont remake it, you can play it STILL, it just doesnt have the pretty graphics and so why bother wasting time with a remake when it is STILL playable.

Oh get over it! There is NO planned remake, they are NOT even CONCIDERING the idea of remaking it right now, they have XIV to make and not to mention in between Kingdom Hearts and other projects, a remake, IF it is going to happen, wont be happening fo a LONG time.

i would pay 10 years of my life for a remake of seven, ive been a final fantasy enthusiast since i was ironically 7 years old when i played 7 for the first time i loved it so much i begged my parents to buy me a ps1. i saw the teaser for the remake and i probably passed out, my dream was coming true, at least til i saw the fact that it was just a demo for the ps3. i was heartbroken, im glad to see others are as well

Square Enix should certainly remake Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation 3. Yoshinori Kitase and the rest of the Final Fantasy VII staff refuse to rule out the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII remake. I never played the original game.

I saw a copy of the game in decent shape behind glass at my local The Exchange store for $30 and I would consider paying another $25 for a used PS1 just so I could play one of my favorite games again that I stupidly sold along with my PS2 and a ton of games for Christmas money one year. Well maybe it wasn't stupid cause I wanted a nice X-mas for my family but I still shouldn't have gotten rid of that game. I still have my memory card with my original save from five years ago...yes!!

I've never played Final Fantasy 7. I've always wanted to, but these days, it's impossible to find the game in stores, or even flee-markets and Yard Sales.
I would definately support the idea of a remake, even if it's just for playing the game for 1 day.

They re-released it for PSP and PS3 (insert random nintendo fan-boy begging for a wii/ds port) so that could be a hint right there. plus the last cutscene of crisis core gives a hint. I just hope a remake comes. THEY BETTER NOT DO WHAT THEY DID WITH FFVIII AND FFVI AND JUST MAKE A TECHNICAL DEMO INSTEAD!!!

NO not a remake!!!! a sequel!! we have had a prequel (crisis core) but lets now have a prequel! i hate remakes, film remakes are bad, just as game remakes are.... we need a ff7 series i still get cravings to replay ff7... i just finished it again with 100% game, maybe in like 10 years time when it is totally retro, but as of now, more sequels..... bring Aeris back via the lifestream!

and yes, i'm one of those who believe they changed cloud and the bunch for AC and CC (and dirge).
Cloud wasnt an emo, he was much more tough. He had a personality crisis, but i dont think he was soo touchy-feely-internal. I also didnt like how AC made them so neutrogena clean either. I always imagined oil-on-their-faces with battle damaged armor...
And Cloud wasnt always so androgynous. That was squall and tidus, not cloud. I also didnt like the KingdomHearts treatment of the ff7 characters...

i mean i think AC is enjoyable if you turn your mind off and marvel at the animation. Its flashy eye candy w/ a touch of nostalgia for the long-time fans, like me. But if actually USE your brain while watching, you soon realise they emo'd cloud and cleaned up the party, turned the turks into scooby and shaggy, made reno and tseng invincible (didnt both of them die... tseng more than once now??) and didnt even respect the established lure like materia behavior. Barret in fishnet wtf!? lol...

Actually, reno and tseng dying were mistranslations. kinda like aerith being called aeris in the original game. they had quite a few mistranslations in that game, but that's the price of greatness. FFVII FOREVER!!!

i'd buy a ps3 for it, but i still have low hopes about the quality of such a game. I dont think it'd have the gritty look, the characters would be more similar to AC's version of them than the original. They would attempt to make it 'beautiful' like they did ffx. They would ham up the story and make it either more sappy or more family appealing. It would have that ENIX factor. And does anybody really believe they wouldnt heavily revamp the combat and gameplay?
It'll be a best selling disaster.

btw if you search for PS3 FF7 tech demo you can get a feel as to what to expect.. looked very promising.
Anyway, either Square is not interested in such a project OR its already in development under secretly dark wraps. no point 'begging' and forcing them thru pressure. there will be one if they feel like it. if they listen to the fans. to gamers. or just to the sound of yens, euros and dollars.

Actually Kitase specifically states that hes really interested in it and that he would love to do it, with the original core team. He doesn't want to do it without the core team. Sakaguchi, Kojima, Nomura, Naora and Uematsu. Those who follow closely to this, only 3 of those work for square atm, and all three are working on Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy XIII, or a KH game. So, until the FFXIII series is completed, and KHs currents are finished... dont expect a FFVII.

And also to note. Square Enix President Yoichi Wada stated that FFVII Compilation will be active and developing until the 20th anniversary of FFVII. Thats another 8 years. Don't worry, a FFVII remake is bound to happen. As well as continuations of the story line and various spin offs like Dirge and Before Crisis.

indeed 12 years have passed and the available means and technology from back then are absolutely no match for gaming resources nowadays.
many other FF games have come out, and there's still a fairly large community stuck to FF7. I won't deny it, I still play it nowadays. FF7 and FF9 were GREAT games.
over the years I've many people spending time and effort creating mods for ff7. why? because the game is a gold mine and players want to completely explore all its possibilities.

They get remade because they have been remaking 1-6 since they switched to other platforms and, for those who have not played 1-6 on the earlier consoles can do so, yes they may get more for Final Fantasy VII BUT hey, thanks to PSN you can now download Final Fantasy VII for I think 10 bucks or something which is another reason why they wont remake it, you can play it STILL, it just doesnt have the pretty graphics and so why bother wasting time with a remake when it is STILL playable.

Oh get over it! There is NO planned remake, they are NOT even CONCIDERING the idea of remaking it right now, they have XIV to make and not to mention in between Kingdom Hearts and other projects, a remake, IF it is going to happen, wont be happening fo a LONG time.
Square have said they have NO plans for a remake, they may THINK about remaking it ONE day in the future, but thats about it. So no, there is no '80% chance of remaking it', there isnt even half a percent of remaking it.

there was a very valid financial reason as to why they weren't remaking it and i've completley forgotten what it was :\ how annoying.
but in summuration it went a bit like this
ff12 did shit in japan while kh2 was still flying off the shelves. kingdom hearts is the new cash cow. anyway everyone crying out for a remake stop and think what your asking square to do, its' a massive workload for something they've already done and is still just as good left untouched.

Square Enix should certainly remake Final Fantasy VII for PlayStation 3. Yoshinori Kitase and the rest of the Final Fantasy VII staff refuse to rule out the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII remake. I never played the original game.
