I'm sitting listening to this with headphones totally unable not to sing along - much to the amusement/bewilderment of my partner. How is it that I still know the words after 40 years?
I've got front row (well 2nd row) tickets for his 70th birthday show at the Royal Festival Hall in November. Can't bloody wait!. Hope Jimmy joins him onstage. It says special guests.....
hello kentish bloke, thanks for this. it would be really good if you or anyone could put zany janie on, or the track I can never remember the title of from late 70s....isnt it time to remember, isnt it time to forget. it was on a picture single with a girl with dark hair, who I introduced to roy, on the cover drawing. thanks if you can. keith.
This is more expensive than John Coltrane's Live In Japan, there is a Hell after all. don't want to spend 20 dollars on this album but I might just have to! Among others!
Came back, its a favourite, it just sends shivers down my back. I have the vinyl but this is the only place I can listen to it conveniently these days, even though the ending is missing it still works for me. Great guitar (JImmy Page?), great words, great voice. This is not a place to argue, it is a place to enjoy!!!!!!!!!! Please.
DOES ANYBODY THERE AGREE WITH ME THAT BORN IN CAPTIVITY IS BETTER THAN THE ALBUM IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A DEMO FOR NAMELY WORK OF HEART NOT THAT YOULL CHANGE MY MIND ON THE SUBJECT
@kentishbloke I wouldn't recommend that, seeing as youtube is generally AT BEST at 128k mp3 quality. It usually has a bunch of artifacts and other problems from the conversion process. Just buy the CD on Amazon.
Nice to hear this from an interesting, more ambitious and experimental album than its predecessor FLAT BAROQUE.But at least it wasnt the same, although i dont like it as much as FB. My fav are Hors D'Oeuvres and One Man Rock n Roll Band
listen you old eejit... i was prepared to let this drop but now you seem to be the person pestering me... go away. what's wrong? didn't i go back to your homepage and spout off.. i've just read it... and you were wrong.. no i didn't go back and look at it. i've got better things to be doing with my time than ping ponging messages with some old fart on youtube. isn't trisha on or something... i believe they do re runs on itv2... oh yes, you stated you have no television... bailiffs?
When I bought this album on vinyl, the day it came out, I wrote down the words to this song on the sleeve. I'm looking at it now. Occassionally a great song comes along. Poetry and great guitar playing in 10 minutes of pure bliss.
Kim Arthur!!(used to live near the Dell, didn't he?)Haven't seen him for a many a long year..Is he still about? Andy,I saw a couple of years ago. He's doing okay. Cheers mate...Nostalgia Street. We've got loads to talk about. :-)))
Rich..Kim moved to East Malling, down by the Medway. Saw him at Terry's funeral. Looks like a retired scrap matel merchant....Oh, he is. Done OK for himself.
Excellent phrasing from 3.30 - 4.10.
Great musician.

@14hunan This is about as real as folk can get. Really traditional sounding old english folk.

The other guitarist has to S. Flavius Mercurius, otherwise known as Jimmy Page. One of the sound engineers is Alan Parsons.

Cracking stuff - a link between Dylan and John Martyn. Shades of Jethro Tull too.
(and to be fair, Dylan was well-known before Harper came big on the scene)
Too hippy to eat anybody for breakfast, I reckon!
