  • Ummm ... it just forces you to have the bulk of your calories in the morning... I can see how it works. By the way, all dieticians are rubbish, they've been trained by industry. Nutritionists are a lot better to go on.

  • I think I might try this. Lately I've been skipping breakfast and I know that's NOT good so this may help. I'm pretty young and I'm overweight so I'm trying to get healthier before a I get older and my weight is completely out of control. I might as well try... Nothing much to lose (besides maybe some pounds)

  • Why don't ppl just combine the diet like, eat banana for breakfast, eat ur turkey sandwhich for lunch, something healthy for dinner, and follow the rest. The bana is really there to help u poop bascily. and when u poop u get toxin or waste in ur body. Notice the trend, like acai berries, its the same idea.

  • The reporter has no knowledge about Japanese diet style or eating habbit. Banana diet works for people LIVING in Japan because japanese people oftentimes have night meals between 10 and 2am. They either drink alcohol with side dishes (high in calorie) or simply night meals, which are high in calories also. However, if they eat bananas in the morning and do not intake food before they go to bed, this habbit eventually causes calorie deficit.

  • @jacksonjacksonjjj However, banana diet would sound absurd to Americans since they have no any idea about Japanese eating habbit, particularlly the reporter in the video. In addition Japanese people living in Japan do not eat as much unhealthy food as typical Americans do. Japanese people generally would not eat those extremely oily and fatty foods that many Americans have daily. Even if they do, they consume moderate or small amount of them. This explains why the reporter is wrong here.

  • 4 bananas in the moring (yes im serious), Drink room temepater(sp?) water anytime you want eat anything you want for luch and super but keep away from dessert, at 3 the only sweet thing you can have is like a cookie or small chocolate bar DONT eat anything past 6 if you do make sure it a fruit or something healthy,go to sleep before midnight or sooner

    ITS THAT EASY TO EXPLAIN: I just dont know if it works??

  • i mean, don't copy the diet without really knowing what it is, and don't judge it so quick neither. the lady in the video apparently doesn't know that normal asian food doesn't have pizza! and when i was in China, I probably only eat pizza once a week, and so do most of Chinese. all our normal food are rice, noodles, or vegetables. so don't bash this method without actually studying why it works for asians.

  • Thing is.. most japanese/asian people eat healthy foods for lunch/dinner anyway.. like she was talking about pizza and fries and steak and stuff... we never eat that kind of food.. i eat stuff like that here in the UK but in HK and Japan etc... its mostly rice or noodles and veggies and fish and meat.. everythings in smallish portions and are completely balanced anyway

  • This pretty much does add up to calorie reduction for people who overeat throughout the day. So it says replace your fatty pancakes grits eggs cheese milk and juice for some bananas and water in the morning and have 1 snack a day. Its like saying have a lite breakfast and plenty of water as a fatty meal replacement.

  • the reason the banana diet works in Japan is because the japanese don't eat fatty foods. fish and vegis aint gonna make you fat. also, the portions are human sized. so sure. eat your banana in the morning, then eat a regular JAPANESE sized lunch of ANY japanese food you want. same goes for dinner. of course you're gonna lose weight.  but if you eat american food with it's high starch and fat content, this will NEVER work. I mean, I had chirashi for dinner yesterday, you think i'll get fat?

  • Yeah I think the diet was assuming you are already eating what you want for dinner and lunch (hence, why you need to lose weight haha)... not to change and eat even worse than you were to start with... Plus, the foods and tastes that are popular in Japan differ greatly from what is popular here. It sounds like she didn't do much research...

  • It's the people that think they can just eat anything after they eat bananas they are idiots. When I did it I ate 3 or 4 bananas and ate for each meal small meals which were usually yogurts and a few wheat thins, or a small turkey sandwich.

    People are just doing it wrong! Keep your "whatever you want" meals small and light and it'll definitely work.

  • uh hello common sense, no one is gonna eat like 10 bananas. and when on a diet plan, one should know not to gobble up fries and burgers even though its said that you can eat whatever you want. the typical japanese family meals are quite healthy. 1 small bowl of rice, 2-3 small simple dishes, miso soup, and tea or sometimes maybe even only soba noodle and tea or curry rice and tea, etc. remember that this diet is from a different culture, the food they eat is different than in america.

  • criticize all u want. it kind of works for me. didn't know this was a fad in japan. i eat 3 banans in the morning and they help me to feel full until i eat lunch. i eat 1 banana at 4pm. so far, i've lost 15lbs over 2 months.
