I was sitting at home in Australia,, when who should I see on my TV screen but Jimmy from "The Laughing Dogs"!! Were my eyes tricking me? Rage, the music video show down here was playing a blast from my NYC past... wow,,, Classic...
@laughingdogs- yup on aussie tv,,, one of the music video shows,,maybe not this video/song but definitely you guys. By the time my brain made the connections of what I was seeing it was gone. Maybe I can peruse shows playlists to find out more. Hope you're still making beautiful music and making people smile somewhere in the world ,,,
@laughingdogs depends on how memorable I am to you I guess,,Lia,, friend of Dougs, Blue eyes Grecian nose, Long Island and Waverly Place NYC,,, ringing any bells? I was one of your shy groupies,,, CBGB's and around and when I think of you guys and seeing you play I just have to smile!! what a gift ;)
@liaeliades You should drop by our Facebook page, facebook.com thelaughingdogs - you might find some people you know. Anyway, thanks so much for letting us know about the broadcast.
Yeah.. Everyone called me Spanky.. Had some really good times with you guys..Hot Dog beach, parties at different houses when you would set up and play, Good friends with Dennis, Doug,s brother, and Timmy... Miss those days...
@MsAbbeydog We found some photos of Hot Dog Beach recently at the Facebook group Friends of The Laughing Dogs - plus there are some more photos at the Facebook page for The Laughing Dogs - Great to hear from you!
@MsAbbeydog Well, we can't tell who you are from your handle, but if it was in Wading River, we remember that rowdy fun group of Dog fans. Everyone who let us stay at their place, we ate them out of house and home. We even have a song called Wading River that Cathcart wrote.
It's Me Larry Chek again, 9 months later. I'm not as cool as you guys. I can hear Jimmy .A. asking me if i'm the same cool cat, It could be Ronnie though. I'm hangin in there. I've been to 21 countries as a Cameraman and traveled the USA and Japan as a Roadie. I'm Living in T Town. Tulsa. Playing drums still and working for a living I still say The Dogs always ruled. Keep on playing
@Larrychek Hey Larry, good hearin' from ya. Check out the Zombie video, the Shirts are in it. There is a special scene with Tommy Smith that you will like.
Come visit us on Facebook too, we've got some cool stuff up there and probably some people you know!
Hopelessly UNDERRATED. They sound so much like those harmony-laden southern rock bands (Orleans comes to mind, the Little River Band, or even the Eagles?) and really didn't ever leave the underground. Sadly.
I Miss this band. I was a roadie for the Shirts, and we shared a reh studio at 435-a 9th street Brooklyn ,NY. I lived in the house. I always thought they got robbed, they should have made it.... Great talent all around.... Larry Chekofsky
i have a fantastic album called, "live at cbgb's" that features a '76 version of "i need a million" recorded at cbgb's that year. thanks for this wonderful post, and rock on...
Wow, I first the saw the Laughing Dogs in1980 inNew Haven, CT when they opened for Cheap Trick. They were so awesome. But I lost my "Joe Head" I would do any thing to get another!!!!
saw the reunion show w/ my bro. Adrian. Thanks for an incredible night of rock n roll guys.Jimmy and the boys knocked em' dead.some of the Best harmonies ever heard live.
Thanks for posting. Moe worked with me in some bands when he moved to Nashville. I really enjoyed working with him and it's great to see him play. Is he still in Conn? Thanks again.
Well, we just got home from the reunion. YOU GUYS STILL ROCK!!!!You sounded absolutely fantastic! Everyone was rockin and you still got it. You looked great, and it was just a great concert, great night. We wanted more.
I hope you can, not only get together again for another concert, but also record another CD together. We just don't here this level of talent anymore. We are waiting. Love you.
i was there too..........and loved it ,i even remembered that oz bit ,they must've done that routine when i saw them backing the monkees...........so thats 2 dogs shows for me one at 10 the other at 41 wow....
I was bouncing around behind!- I got outta town but I still look at that triangle fondly whenever I'm back. I lost a bloody contact lens that night wearing a Joe Head! X
OMG not even sure where i remember seeing this video BUT I TOTALLY remember it and it's SO nice to see it after all these years. I have the song on my "Funky..but Chic" CD compilation (which not sure if there is any other CDs with this song on it other than this one), but the video is really what brings back the memories. Thanks!
I missed ever seeing you guys in concert and I regret it. I saw The Shirts. You were both fantastic, and it's depressing neither of you never got the recognition you deserve. This video shows just how much you guys ROCK!
Post that old advertisement about how everyone wants to hear a rock group from Brooklyn!
And... where can I get a Joey Head? I'll wear it proudly!!!!
For those who don't understand the above comment...
Cassius Clay (Mohammed Ali) came walking down the street while we were trying to make this film. Right in the middle of the shoot, everyone stared following him and and yelling "Clay" which brought our singing and filming to a halt (and blew away some expensive filmstock).
WOW! What a great song and such a fun concert. I've been listening to all your songs and watching the videos. You guys are terrific and better than most of today's garbage. Keep posting these songs. My kids are even bopping around to them.
I'd just like to thank you for posting this. I'm a big powerpop nut and this is one of my all-time favourite powerpop songs. I was so excited to finally see this clip and what a great clip it is!
Wow! This is what music should be about - happines, smiles and the unstoppable urge to stomp your feet. Many groups of today have a lot to learn - a lot ...
Oh my god, I have laughed so much! I've never seen this before now! I confess! - I'm a Joe Head bouncing around in there. I lost a contact lens from that mask, down the grating on that Square. Happy days to all who sail in them. Love, Cyn X
Love you Jimmi, you're the best. And joey09 is absolutely correct, SHAME ON COLUMBIA RECORDS! I am happy to see you here on YouTube. It's about time for all to see true talent. keep posting videos. Hey, how about posting some of those wild and crazy old movies of yours?
oh man ,love this band ,love the song one of the best debute albums in pop music history ,shame on columbia records for not re-releasing this lp.........jimmi, im the guy you sent the joe mask to about 4 5 years ago from bayonne ,thanks for posting this
