Can somebody tell me where this whole Masterclass record can be purchased as a DVD? I search the Internet for it but didn't find any hint about it :-S
Billy is very proud of the classical piano interludes in his best songs. He has said that he sees himself as a player and composer 1st and singer 2nd.
Billy makes the piano sound like an orchestra...His sentiment couldn't be more pure...Someday we'll all be gone but lullabies live on and on, they never die, that's how you and I will be... Amazing.
many thanks to 'billyjoelforever' for posting these downloads - they are just fantastic! billy joel is just the master - outstounding talent - love him x
I've never heard this lullaby before, although I've been listening to Billy Joel for decades. What a beautiful, moving song. Thank you for posting these.
It's a great series of videos when it comes to the music. I'm a big fan of BIlly Joel. However, why was the information editied out? I mean all that 'information' about the music industry that he talks about in the first part.
Billy is in a class unto himself. I am a big Elton and Bruce fan,but Billy write the music AND lyrics together. His musical talent/education span many different genres of music. This lullabye is so deep and moving, it brings a grown man (me) to tears. Billy has it all, its a shame he feels he is done for the most part. No new album in 15 years ??!!?? Yet his talent still shines which is why he sells out baseball stadiums.
everyone is talented.. But sometimes ppl can't find a fair way.
They're all good piano guys.. But every have other kind of music. He like this song, she like other.. various people, various artists but relate by one thing.. by music..
Billy is a great songwriter,, but I think Elton and Hornsby are better piano players. Neither Elton or Hornsby are the all around Talent that Billy is though.
Actually, burbonboy, I think that while Elton John and Bruce Hornsby are excellent piano players, and are especially more graceful than Billy THESE days, Billy's playing truly excelled back in the 1970s when he was writing and performing pieces like "Prelude/Angry Young Man" and "Root Beer Rag," two compositions that are well beyond the abilities of both Elton & Hornsby. "Root Beer Rag," especially, is a tough one for your average, everyday pop musician to duplicate.
depends on the level of pianist. Im one and i couldnt plat it that well, yet eltons music etc is fairly easy and have bee able to play most of his stuff since i was a kid
Prelude/Angry Young Man is actually really easy, it just sounds difficult because it's fast, but its just alternating between the left and right hand playing at a normal speed.
elton cant keep up with billy when tthey play piano man together. billy is a miles faster and more complicated player. Eltons music although still fantastic is generally slower and a lot more simply written
trck hit the nail right on the head, this song brings back good and bad memories for me his song were a major influence in my life, his songs will last forever
Billy Joel is definitely one of the greatest musicians ever. He has given the world music that will never be forgotten, and I really thank him very sincerely for that. Thank you Billy.
You cannot listen to this without crying. I miss being a child sometimes.
