on the trills just hold down the yellow and tap the blue its really not as fast as you think its pretty easy

or you can pause the game right before the mosh and setup your guitar with some coins and rubberbands to hold the green button down also

You have to continuously strum, not for every note, but maybe once at the beginning of the 4 note whatchamacallit.
