You're a very talented guy Bradley - I have not a fraction of the patience, inspiration or attention to detail required to produce something like this. Nice work :)
No. There's no rivet necessary for the "Master Cylinder," which moves with the main crankshaft. However, the production model does have a rivet, but just for looks. -B
Thank you, Cuizable! In order, the tracks are: "St. Louis Got Tickled," "One Meatball," "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," and "Key To The Highway," taken from my two albums "I'll Give You The Bus Money, Honey!" and "You Rascal You," available at CDBaby(dot)com/cd/litwin and ...litwin2 .
São uma espécie de cartões postais com estruturas que se movimentam ao ser girada uma pequena manivela. Criados por Bradley N. Litwin, que publicou o vídeo abaixo para divulgá-los, os MechaniCards são vendidos em edições limitadas.
This is your hobby? What "kind of people" do you suppose I am? I think I am a very hard-working artist, who deserves fair compensation, quite frankly! -B
@BLitwin I'd like to retract anything insulting, I just don't see how laser cut pieces and premade metal rods all put together in a kit, could cost anywhere near $75. I do understand that everybody wants a profit, and you are indeed... an artist. But each kit must be like $10 or less in supplies. Also, yes. Papercraft and paper sculptures is a hobby.
Actually, very little is "pre-made." I make 99%, myself. Sure, the raw materials are inexpensive. But, I don't think you'd expect to buy a new car, for the $200 it's worth as scrap. I do wish they could be cheaper, so more folks could enjoy them. It's the difference between being a working artist, and pursuing a "hobby." -B
@BLitwin just to tell you. a new car isn't worth $200 of scrap metal. there is the engine, the windsheilds, body, motor, carborator, there is tons of things that make a car run. ESPECIALLY all of the wiring and mechanics and electronics in a new car. so dont say that.
Yes. A car's engine, body, etc. are worth little as raw material, but have had considerable resource put into making them objects of value. Similarly, MechaniCards have plenty of that same "added value." Workshops with laser cutters, helpers, and such, don't come cheaply. They do make it possible for one to buy my work for a relatively low price. I wish it could be less. C'est la vie.
@BLitwin As a working artist who is also interested in turning a profit for my work, I come down squarely on your side. I am very impressed with your level of ingenuity, your construction skills, & your visual taste. Not to mention that every point you have made is valid. I do not understand how what you do "ruins" a good hobby, as the first commentator in this thread claimed. How does what YOU do interfere with HIS/HER hobby at all? Your prices are quite reasonable for what you do.
May be you could make an innovating card with "The Best Rotary Engine" we can see here in YouTube as: "The Best Rotary Engine, how it works". Congratulations your cards are so interesting.
That would be me! All the music in this video is from my two albums, "You Rascal You" and "I'll Give You The Bus Money, Honey!" available on CDBaby com -B
@BLitwin actually, he means that it might be very surprising to receive such postcard when attending regular army service. Applies to russian conditions :-)
Are you planning to release for sale drawings of these cards? It would save people from delivery. For Russia it is true.
It would be nice if in the postcards was a musical mechanism works together with the rotation of the handle. A few years ago in our country have been very popular musical greeting cards. What do you think about this idea?
Thank you in advance for your reply and sorry for my english.
The lyrics in the version I sing are from Hy Zarret and Lou Singer, written in the early 1940s. The arrangement is by myself and producer, Jon Cooper. The song was originally inspired by an earlier work, called "The Lone Fishball," written in the 1860s.
Mostly I use mat board board or illustration board, sometimes chip board, about 1/16 inch thick. Some parts are thinner; some thicker; some laminated.
