Yeah, FOB definitely captured the atmosphere of that scene perfectly. I mean, I can't get enough of listening to Flyleaf's version, and I like the darker perspective, but FOB does have one up for being able to make a fresh remake, but still stick to the original atmosphere.

FOB is better as a send up. Flyleaf is a good band, but this was just not up to par for them. It is like they were trying to be dark and creepy.. when this was the least creepy of the songs from the movie. My opinion though.

i dont want to piss any one off or anything but personally i think fob is way better making or singing this song for the fact that they kept it the same up beat tone but more like idk rockish, and flyleaf kinda made it almost sad to listen to like i got bored fast its like a slow version of the song and thats not how this song should be portrayed. but flyleaf is an over all great singer and so is fob but they have their own songs that make them good

FoB just fails. Its trying to hard to be like the original. It was the same shit we get from their other music. I find it hard to comapre this to the original. Even though it may sound upbeat, Burton is your typical upbeat FoB style of guy.
Flyleaf, while not as excited still portrays in a diffrent way the wonder jack felt. It was more wonder Jack felt when he was in Christmas Town. The overall song sound more like Tim Burton and sounds more like the emotion of Jack I find.

If you ask me, I think it's wrong, firstly, on anyone's part to be speaking profanity over such a useless matter. A person's point of view on the movie shouldn't matter to you. Yes, Jack WAS happy about finding Christmas town, and yes JACK should sound happy. Flyleaf isn't Jack. I've seen the movie and I know the story to it by heart, I can even quote the exact words said in and out through out the movie. That doesn't mean that I should want Flyleaf to twist their singing to my liking.

im not a "hot topic junky" on the subject, but i bought the revisited album, and "whats this" and the "whats wrong with jack" are the only 2 tracks that i cant stand on it. i personally love the album and movie as a whole, but i have to say... flyleaf's slow, uninspired feel in the music was a complete waste to the album. i personally think that someone who loves NBC would appreciate the upbeat attitude of the original "whats this" more than the flyleaf version. the FOB version holds up to it.
Never said you were but thinking of it as in the way of the summary of the movie, A skeleton discovers christmas and this cause a bunch of other monsters to kidnapp Santa Claus (or as they say Sandy Claws) and try to harm him, it would seem more approrpriate for it to be more gloomy in the long run. But, either way to each ones own.
i like the way your thinking, but its meant to be a tone change for the new scenery. this one song only reflects the scene in the movie from which it takes place. in this case, it takes place in undisturbed north pole, where cheer is building. it also expresses jacks excitement and wonder, which is in no way gloomy. as an example, one of my favorite revisits is the polyphonic spree's rendition of "town square", because of the projection and drama when they don't understand.
True, I see what you are saying there and FOB's does have more of a "O hmy what heck did I find?" tone to it, but I (personally) think considering the overall effect of the movie I would go with Flyleaf but I do see where you are coming from.

The point of this song is to show how Jack is shocked and full of curiosity when seeing this new and familiar place; Flyleaf seems to think Jack was digging graves instead of having fun by riding trains and playing in the snow.
FoB managed to capture the excitement and fun of this song while Flyleaf missed the point of the song entirely.

Disregarding which band I like more I would have to say that Fall Out Boy captured the purpose of the song better than Flyleaf did. The song was suppose to be happy and fast paced because in the movie it was a dream come true for Jack and he was excited to see all the happiness in christmas land. i dont want to piss any one off or anything but personally i think fob is way better making or singing this song for the fact that they kept it the same up beat tone but more like idk rockish, and flyleaf kinda made it almost sad to listen to like i got bored fast its like a slow version of the song and thats not how this song should be portrayed. but flyleaf is an over all great singer and so is fob but they have their own songs that make them good

FoB just fails. Its trying to hard to be like the original. It was the same shit we get from their other music. I find it hard to comapre this to the original. Even though it may sound upbeat, Burton is your typical upbeat FoB style of guy.
Flyleaf, while not as excited still portrays in a diffrent way the wonder jack felt. It was more wonder Jack felt when he was in Christmas Town. The overall song sound more like Tim Burton and sounds more like the emotion of Jack I find.

ok.. Jack was supposed to be happy that he found a new place that was full of cheer, and Fall Out Boy's clearly shows the excitement that Jack would have felt, this one makes him sound like he was sad and depressed finding out that he found another place..
it's not a bad song.. but Fly Leaf's song doesn't fit very well with the movie...

I kinda thought that Flyleaf would be the winner for the part where Jack says, "The monsters are all missing, the nightmares can't be found," and so on. But that's just me. I like that part, it gave me shivers. FOB is good, but they make it seem too happy. I'd give it to Flyleaf, lol. Then again, I'm an extremely morbid person, so my opinion probably doesn't matter.... O_o;

If you ask me, I think it's wrong, firstly, on anyone's part to be speaking profanity over such a useless matter. A person's point of view on the movie shouldn't matter to you. Yes, Jack WAS happy about finding Christmas town, and yes JACK should sound happy. Flyleaf isn't Jack. I've seen the movie and I know the story to it by heart, I can even quote the exact words said in and out through out the movie. That doesn't mean that I should want Flyleaf to twist their singing to my liking.

I would'nt say flyleaf ruined thesong, I think of it like this: Flyleaf captured the Holloween side of the story while Fall out boy stuck to the whole christmas vibe. Both are good in my opinion.

im not a "hot topic junky" on the subject, but i bought the revisited album, and "whats this" and the "whats wrong with jack" are the only 2 tracks that i cant stand on it. i personally love the album and movie as a whole, but i have to say... flyleaf's slow, uninspired feel in the music was a complete waste to the album. i personally think that someone who loves NBC would appreciate the upbeat attitude of the original "whats this" more than the flyleaf version. the FOB version holds up to it.

Never said you were but thinking of it as in the way of the summary of the movie, A skeleton discovers christmas and this cause a bunch of other monsters to kidnapp Santa Claus (or as they say Sandy Claws) and try to harm him, it would seem more approrpriate for it to be more gloomy in the long run. But, either way to each ones own.

i like the way your thinking, but its meant to be a tone change for the new scenery. this one song only reflects the scene in the movie from which it takes place. in this case, it takes place in undisturbed north pole, where cheer is building. it also expresses jacks excitement and wonder, which is in no way gloomy. as an example, one of my favorite revisits is the polyphonic spree's rendition of "town square", because of the projection and drama when they don't understand.

True, I see what you are saying there and FOB's does have more of a "O hmy what heck did I find?" tone to it, but I (personally) think considering the overall effect of the movie I would go with Flyleaf but I do see where you are coming from.

The point of this song is to show how Jack is shocked and full of curiosity when seeing this new and familiar place; Flyleaf seems to think Jack was digging graves instead of having fun by riding trains and playing in the snow.
FoB managed to capture the excitement and fun of this song while Flyleaf missed the point of the song entirely.

"whats this" is meant to be upbeat and more perky. flyleaf made the song emo while fall out boy just made the song slightly faster than the original track. fall out boy instrumentals with jack's voice actor = epicness!

Disregarding which band I like more I would have to say that Fall Out Boy captured the purpose of the song better than Flyleaf did. The song was suppose to be happy and fast paced because in the movie it was a dream come true for Jack and he was excited to see all the happiness in christmas land. Flyleaf's version was too slow and sad, just didn't fit the song.
