I believe I was 12 or 13 years old when I met Springer back when Soda Springs was still being sold to people as a "heath spa" and illegal narcotics were pretty common out there -- the 1970's so it was something of a hippie revival. LOL.
You probably noticed that the Desert Studies people have let the place fall in to ruin -- deliberately so. The cabin at Sheep Creek Springs they would not let me rebuild, restore, and clean up the surrounding grounds since they claim it's all "historic sites."
It is officially operated by the California Desert Studies Consortium, a consortium of 7 CSU campuses: Dominguez Hills, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, San Bernardino, and Cal Poly Pomona.

This place looks very neat. I drive the I-15 several times a year when I go to Vegas. I will have to visit on my next trip.

@TmDropper Yeah its worth a couple miles away from the highway. When I was there it was over 100 and the pool felt great :)

I spent a lot of time there before the friggen government came in and took it over again from the insane cult that was running it. Ah well.

This place used to be a religous spa vacation place. People would come here to soak in the mineral spring water.
Now its used for College Students as a base when they do thier field work/ Desert studies.

it was hot that day. I am glad there was water in one of the pools. I thought there would be none.

Jesus! That place is a ruin. You could do archaeology there. What a mess. Yuck.

Cool vid. I always stop and take pics of the Zzyzx Road sign at the freeway exit, but have never driven down the road to explore this place...yet.
