Thanks for the video just did mine with your method. But yours came out better. the PVC that i used is a bit thicker than yours, it sounds a bit bassy. other than that It sounds good. I saw your other video on marking the holes on a flute, how can you compare that with the Fujara. most Elastic bands rip when they are stretched that long. By the way is the fujara best if it haves 6 holes or just 3? or is there more you can put on? Is it better if you put more holes?
and I've been doing Ocarinas out of ceramics and i learned that it is hard tunning them, changing the size of the holes makes a big difference do you have all your holes different or are they the same? have you seen a real fujara? does it have the same size of holes?
Thank you for the tips...I don't quite understand about the ratio...But i have a pipe of at least 150 cm with 15 mm diameter..I`ll try to see if it`s working...What do you think? If i drill the holes at 83%, 73% and 68% (as u told to simseba) might work?
Thanks once again for the clip. I did a persian ney and a bulgarian kaval with PVC pipes and it`s the most cheap and easy material to use and very original in sounding!
@7777dmith7777 You can blow also in the edge of the pipe at the end and can sing( like you are blowing in kaval or ney). If u blow like in a trompet i don't think u get those octaves.:) cya!
nope didnt get them, another thing is the fipple I have made is very quiet on the 1st octave little better on the next gradually getting louder but the mumble I hardly have to breath to get it! good or bad, I made 6" fipples 4 off to get the best,
This is Polish instrument Too ! The most popular Polish Version named "Fujara Wielkopostna" Fujara is a popular acient folk instrument of lot od (probably all) slavic countries !!
ok i went and bought my 1 1/2'' pvc and my hose from a plumbing store. then i tried using dowl cuz i figured cork would be to poress? and of course it wouldnt match with anything. so i am going to my woods class from high school 12 years ago and hopefully there there and laith the dowl to fit snug. is this what i do? i planned on using chisels to make the ramp and fipple. i will try to post if it works. let me know if i am on the right direction? as well as any commentors?
Hey actually I found that'd be the best likely thing to use too, I've got it to a point where it makes sound while the end it plugged but not much while the ends open.
Not sure what the problem is but I haven't touched it much. Been a waiting project for quite some time but I've thought about finishing it, just haven't had much time. Worth it though! Awesome instrument!
Do you seal the other end closed or leave it open? Where exactly will the sound come out of for recording into a microphone? Do you put anything on the end of the hose you put into your mouth?
Divide the active length(from the bottom edge of the window to it's end) of the fujara in half, divide the bottom half into six equal sections, take the marks at the top of the second, third and fourth sections and move them up by the internal diameter of the fujara, make your holes there.
Very sorry, that should have been "7 equal sections" not 6, i rooted out a Slovak manual i've got at home. You can trust the rest, it's a formula used by Slovak fujara makers, and i've used it myself. Maybe compare it with the percentage method if you want to make sure.
The hole of the back... ^^ Thank you for this great moment, your web-site is very interesant, and your videos too, now i know how to build a training fujara and that's pretty good cause i'm dreaming about it since a long time.
can you tell me please what the diameter of the fingerholes is and the exact placement regarding the tube length ( maybe from the botoom to the center of the holes) and why the last hole is not in the center
Hi Simseba, Each finger hole is fine tuned by adjusting its diameter but these on average are 8-10mm. Positions are 83% 73% and 68% of the length from the fipple sharp edge to the end. Last hole is off centre to fit fingers in a comfortable position. HTH Paul
What are the hole spacings please ? Thx

Fantastic innovation! How exactly do you get the fipple? It's the only thing I'm having trouble with.

I'm having a hard time finding a cork this big, I've got a pvc pipe1"X50" and I have no clue where to get a inch in diameter cork...any ideas?
Also, in your opinion, how far from the end of the tube would you place the fipple?
Thanks!
Thanks for the great tutorial

I'm also curious how you sharpened the ramp on the fipple both inside and out?
massieko 2 years ago
@massieko Nope, you just need to sharpen it out:)
BukurDava 1 year ago
Instead of using a cork I am trying to use a 1" wooden dowel. I'll let you know how it goes.

whittle it down
then sand it smooth
anikaire 2 years ago
I made a cork by cutting off part of the pipe, sealed it on oner end with ducktape and filled it with hot-glue from a gluepistol.
The rest goes as same as the pvc-flute from junkdojo, cause it is alittle tricky give the hardened glue a clean cut.
ATTENTION
While cooling the glue maybe needs refilling in the center.
keep on going......
