Hahaha, yeah I can imagine that first listen, especially live it sounds like crap to anyone else. It's definitely compex music and hard to listen to or understand, but it really is good music. The lyrics are complex and the way they play their music is extremely different, but that doesn't make it bad. You have to get into it, it's all about energy and fun. If you can go crazy to crazy music, then it's all good.
i do like to get into music. but you need to draw the line somewhere between organized sounds (music) and just plain sounds (noise). the reason that this music sounds complex is that your brain is trying to make sense of it, but cannot. so you think, "man, this is so intricate that i cant even understand it!". no. it is just random sounds that have no patterns or organization. that is why your brain cannot understand it.
I know you won't do it, but you should go and actually listen to a track from an actual CD of their's, because listening to them live first let alone at all will get you confused. There is a definite structure to their music, otherwise why bother having guitars, drums, and keyboards? There are a few tracks of noise here and there though, but that's the minority. Give it a chance!
I could do one of two things (or maybe both.) 1) go buy this cd. 2) find a nice brick wall and start banging my head against it. Although these things might sound different, they produce the same affects: headaches, confusion, bleeding, drop in I.Q. and every other thing that would cause sensory damage.
Haha, alright, I've never once suffered a headache, bled, had my IQ drop, or have any sort of sensory damage due to listening to The Locust. They're a good band in my opinion, and I guess you just think they suck entirely, which is understandable, I guess. But I guess I can look at it this way: You actually gave it somewhat of a chance by watching the entire video rather than shutting it off mid-way in. The Locust did a split with a band called Melt-Banana, who are good and not as noisy.
