  • I want her she is a goddess

  • I can sing in Gaelic, though often I don't know what the words mean. I pick up the lyrics from listening and watching, and trial and error. And I love it when I get the tingly feeling that means I got it. I'm shy, though, so that means that if someone passes me or walks into the room I break off midword and pretend I wasn't doing anything until they leave. 9_9. I think I would die if Celtic Woman somehow decided that they wanted me up there. I love these women! I wonder if they ever get scared

  • Minha preferida,!1º ena que ela saiu do grupo

  • wow.......... she's pretty. :)

  • Those 4 people disliked, doesn't believe in angels ...

  • I kept replaying the beginning to try and make sense of her surname.

  • @meh3335 "nee WELL cah ha"

  • @azgeogirl Thanks :]

  • I loved her in Celtic Woman, but I also love her solo albums! She is so amazingly talented and I am using her songs to practice my classical/Celtic voice since I have never had training! I love Meav's voice!!!! :)

  • @92lovetosing Me too! Unfortunately, I don't speak Irish, so I often have to resort to singing Jibberish instead of Irish :p It takes me ages to master an Irish song! But they're often the must fun ones! :D

  • @ImaginaryNightshade Me too! But I try to get the words right! LOL! Irish songs are fun aren't they? :)

  • @92lovetosing I try too, but it's so hard! :p They sure are! ;)

  • she i my second favorite, right behind Mairead <3

  • i dont think you could have guessed that there voices are quite low considering the pitch that they sing at.

  • It's better that she pursued a solo career. She deserves her own spotlight.

  • Please, can someone tell me why she had to leave celtic Woman?

  • @LetYourselfGoWild

She left because of her family, she has two little daughters and a husband of course.

  • She kinda pronounces the 'r' like an American! It's funny I think, because the rest sounds very British/Irish.

  • @Agnouchka29 The Irish English /r/ is pronounced more like than the American /r/ than like the British /r/. It's always pronouced, whereas the British don't always pronounce their /r/. British people won't pronouce the /r/ in hard, for example, Americans and Irish people always will. :)

  • @ImaginaryNightshade Okay thanks :) I'm not really used to the Irish accent to tell you the truth, much more with the British and the American ones. (I'm French)

  • @Agnouchka29 Me too, like most people who aren't Irish, I guess (I'm from Belgium) :) You don't really hear Irish English anywhere outside of Ireland, as opposed to American and British accents ;) But I'm really interested in, or I might even say slightly obsessed with phonology, so I'm used to paying attention to that kind of stuff :p

  • Tá mé i ngrá - her voice is that of an Angel - uamhnach! -Go raibh maith agat as an aisling! Thanks for the dreams!!!

  • she is my all time favourite!! COME BACK MEAV! <3

  • The day Meav left the group she broke my heart. Please come backkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!

  • What song is she singing @ 1:13

  • @tennismon its jesu joy of man's desiring.its a beautiful song. :)

  • @aom9010 thank you soo much! :)

  • COME BACK PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • She was just in TN. I missed it, but I will make sure I see her the next time she tours the USA.

  • Of the many singers I've heard during my lifetime, Meav is one of the VERY FEW with a voice that will bend as she commands it - she has a range that's out of this world.

I'd like to see her back with CW but I do understand family has to come first.

  • Celtic Woman should do a reunion tour. Like bring every one back that left and go on tour.

  • i´d like to know more about the wealthy widow song - Si Do Mhaimeo I

  • She is just great. She is beautiful, elegant, her voice is soaring and lovely and she has so much fun with performing.

  • One thing i see about all of these lovely and talented women is that they all had strong musical influence from their parents and relatives since they were all pretty small. They grew up in it, i guess to have such talent it seems to be better nurtured since childhood. Nature plus much nurture seems to produce such woderful talent.

  • I miss Meav and Orla and Alex so much, but for those of you who haven't heard, Meav and Orla are doing a Christmas Show together in September! They're taping it in Nashville for PBS!!! So it'll be wonderful to see them singing together again!!!!!

  • She has the most English-y accent; her Irish lilt isn't as strong as, say, Orla's.....it's just kind of interesting how they're all Irish, but their accents are all slightly different.

  • @balipsette well think about America, and England for example just traveling a few hundred miles and the accent here changes drastically. Same deal in Ireland.

  • meav and orla need to come back the group hasn't been the same since they left those 2 and lisa were amazing together

  • @iceflyer Wait, Orla left????

  • @sunstorm298 Yes she did.

  • she quit the group to go solo

  • how the hell do you say her surname???

  • @TheModdeyDhoo "nee - WAYL - khah - hah", according to Wikipedia.

  • meav has a incredible grace

  • Perhaps now that Alex has left the group Meav will come back. Wishful thinking! ;-)

  • @onegnarlyguitar yay, but Alex was the replacement for Orla. Lynn and Maev they both have extremely clear and high voices. To keep the arangement celtic woman would need some singer for the lower scales

  • @Fl03ckch3n Point well taken. Regards.

  • it's Deirdre Shannon :)

  • I love her voice... I wish she come back T.T Miss Meav

  • She was my favorite too! I miss her!

  • Meav was my favorite! I wish you wouldn't have left!!!!!!

  • @matthewthomasmovies i no that but what is it i have tryed to find out as long as i can!!

  • Why did she leave???

  • She had a child.

  • she didn't have a baby, Lisa did. Meav just wanted to do solo work. :D

  • @irishmusicalgurl1216

Méav has two daughters.. One is stil a baby, her name is Katherine, the other is 4 and her name is Anna. I'm not pretending I know her or something, she spoke about that on her forum..

  • Oh I know. But it said that she left because she wanted to do solo work...at least thats what they said. :)

  • Yes, that's true. But she also wanted spend more time with her family.. :)

  • @irishmusicalgurl1216 no cuz they got didree as a sub cuz right after this preformance,in one of the shows it says meav will not be preformingg because she is having a baby so didree took the place

  • @bigsis314 Didree...?

  • @irishmusicalgurl1216 hehe sorry i dont no how to spell it hahaha but i no her last name is shannon

  • she wanted to do solo work.

  • meav is my favorite!

i can't believe she left *tear*

    xoxo!

  • I miiiiiiiss her. First her and then Orla left. So sad.

  • @raindropstellastory i know for real!

  • ....How old is she? I can't find it anywhere...

  • @Hammotastic i would really like to know too! i'm hunting it down! lol

  • She looked really happy to keep singing with other members in Celtic Woman ...But sadly she left T_T

I like her besides Lisa. She should have stayed with Celtic Woman.

  • "she mov'd thro the fair".

  • what is the name of the first song in this video??

  • ""..She Moved through the fair..""

  • what's the song around 2;20?

  • The Soft Goodbye

  • Right around 1:20, what is the name of that song she is singing? It sounds very nice.

  • Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring by Bach from the BWV 147 cantata.

  • 5 stars - lovely

  • COME BACKKKKKKKKKKKK

  • shes my favorite one

  • I've watched this video over and over, mainly just to listen to her talk! Irish accents are sooo cool, but this interview is great too. Meav has always been my favorite everything.

  • I believe she left to focus on a solo career.

It is a possibility that CW will work with Meav in the future, but for now, it dosen't appear that Meav will be coming back.

But wish her luck on solo accomplishments!

  • Does anyone know why Meav left Celtic Woman? :( She was my favorite.

  • She left because she wanted to spend more time with her family and concentrate on her solo career.

  • whar ded she go

  • her dresses are always the best

  • Nee-WEL-cha-ha

with a ch as in Scottish Loch. but less emphasized and not guttural.

Ní Mhaolchatha is shortened from Iníon Uí Mhaolchatha, meaning daughter of Ó Maolchatha.

You can hear her say it in the clip.

  • If you are talking about Meav...she is one hundred percent Irish. There were many reasons why she left CW, but she just had her 2nd little girl Catherine, we call her Katy, and she is gorgeous. Meav returning to CW is a definite possibility......we will just have to wait and see what happens.

  • Meav you rock! I love how you can go from angelic/soft to bold and beautiful with any song! Love seeing both your shows while you were in the states and I'm gonna miss you!

    Phx(Tucson, AZ)

  • she's an angel...

  • Yes indeed!!!

  • She sings so great accapella... I miss her O.o

  • i miss her too

  • Yess.. She has a awesome voice, if she sung accapella in Danny Boy, or a mystical song as She Moved through the fair... . CW has really lost something beautiful

  • yes

  • By far the best vocalist CW has. I'll miss her on this tour (Tulsa, 28 June).

  • she is my favorite Celtic Women!!

  • I think angelic is the best way to describe haer, the singing, and all the women she sings with.

  • They need to clone her! What a beauty and talent!

  • i like her accent :)

    she's an awesome singer!

  • does anyone know what song the melody in 1:12 thru 1:23 is from?

  • It's the Cantata, BWV 147, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, composed by Johann Sebastian Bach

  • jesu, joy of man's desiring is the tune

  • She can hit those high notes that I could only hit when I was a young child, but puberty has tarnished that ability, almost makes me wanna become a woman, oh but I'd never want that.....ouch!!

  • I am so sad that I wasn't able to see her last night but I still loved seeing Celtic Woman

  • A cool name for a very cool lady!

  • She has THE COOLEST name I have ever heard. Its so pretty!

  • whats the song shes singinat the beginning?

  • "She Moved Through the Fair"

  • thank you so much!!!!

  • I'm a new fan of Celtic Woman and Meav. Meav is one of my biggest heroes now.

  • i agree with CelticWoman27. Meav will always be my favorite. it just wont be the same without Meav though

  • Méav is and always will be my favorite out of all the Celtic Women even though she left the group :(

  • Does Ni have a meaning?? Is it her middle name or is it part of her last name similar to de Leon in Spanish??

  • yep. its the female equivalent of de Brún or Ó Súilleabháin

  • I think my favorite is Méav. I would love to sing "si do mhaimeo i" (wealthy widow) for class night at my highschool.

  • Meav is one of angels from Celtic Woman. I can't decide which one is my favorite. as of now, I luv them all

  • I don't know about you, but to me Meav is the "Angel of Music", especially when she sings "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring"!!!

  • a voice from heaven!

  • meiv ni melkhaha?

  • Meav Niwakalaha (phonetic...)

  • she wants that sort of private info KEPT private.

  • there is no indication of her age ANYWHERE on the web!! wiki and Imdb

    How old is she ?

  • exactly, just to look for her age drives me crazy

  • haha ^^

  • You most likely won't find her age anywhere. She has worked very hard to keep personal information such as age, family, etc... hidden. She would rather have people simply concentrate on her music.

  • Umm......isn't it a rule to never ask a woman 1.) her age and 2.) her weight

  • How to pronounce her last name???

  • new-al-ka-ha

  • I LOVE the irish accent ♥__♥

  • Her voice is really deep

  • When she sings though she even surpasses Lisa's.

She actually has a very wide range.

  • whats the song at 1:12???

  • Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring

  • thank you!

  • reply to 2000bowtie: What did Maev and Mairead work hard to keep quiet?

  • muggleman12, Meav and Mairead worked hard to keep their ages quiet. Its virtually impossible to find out how old they are.

  • such a beautiful voice!

  • What is that first song she is singing? Its really good. Any help appreciated.

  • She moved through the fair I believe

  • Thank you

  • woops sorry my cousins wife

  • I love her voice... its so beautiful and dreamy

  • Meav is my great uncles wife

  • i doubt that. she's not old enough to be married to someones great uncle

  • why did she left Celtic Woman?

    that suck i think

  • because she has a baby in 2005/6 and can no longer take extended leave from home to tour the world. A solo career gives her more flexibility.

  • Méav Ní Mhaolchatha and Lisa Kelly have turned me into a stalker, as of this moment. The other ladies in the production are classy too. Gotta love those difficult to pronounce ethnic names; in fact, Lisa Kelly birthname was Laoise Ní Cheallaigh.

  • i love the name meav!

  • Me too! Meav and Mabel are probably my two favorite girl names.

  • She is so amazing and her name is beatiful... if only I was from Ireland. I do hope to move there someday... (please don't think me strange, celtic heritage runs thickly thru my veins I think I was Irish in a past life ;)

  • She is incredible, one of my favorites. You don't have to be Irish to be enthroled to celtic heritage. I'm asian but perferr celtic culture. If that's not weird.

  • I'm from dublin and it was beatiful

but I moved to the US when I was 6

  • how old is she? just outta intrest

  • she and mairead have worked very hard to keep that private.

  • its Gaelic. All the names you hear now that are more common have been anglicized. Like Murphy, which is my last name, is O'Murchadha in its true Irish fashion

  • Um Do they still speak gaelic in Ireland? I thought they spoke english now, I thought Galic was a dead langage.

  • Yes, gaelic is the official language. In some places, thats the chosen language over english.

    As it should be.

  • In most parts they do speak English but in other parts like Donegal it's still quite strong there.

  • Really, do they teach it in the schools, that galic or english or both?

Does everyone there know english or are there some that just speak galic?

  • Yes they do teach Gaelic in schools as a second language but usually if you live in Donegal it's actually already your first language. You are brought up speaking that way. Like Enya.

  • Not all do. Mhaolchatha I believe is an old Gaelic name.

  • The "Ni" indicates that she's female. If she was a guy it would be "O". Ni Mhaolchatha means daughter of the bald headed warrior. Although according to her, her father is very peaceful and has "loads of hair".

  • best of the best

    thank you Meav

  • She has what my grandmother would call a "good Irish name."

  • She is absolutly amazing.....and i wish i could have that kind of grace in my upper register. That soft, effortless flow....It makes me sad she left.... :,(

  • I miss Meav. Her voice is so pure.

  • shes kinda hot she dose'nt need to move she uses her facial expressions and amazing voice to make the song work

  • very good voices

Diese Stimme ist einzig artig,Gänsehaut pur.

    Thank you Meav

  • muss ich auch sagen :P Schade das sie nicht mehr dabei ist!

  • I know, I'm a bad bad man!

  • Youngest To Oldest

    Chloe

    Hayley

    Lynn

Lisa replaced by Alex Sharpe (unsure of Alex' age)

    Meav

    Fiddler Lady

    Orla

  • The Fiddler Lady is Mairead. Just FYI.

  • haha... Fiddler Lady would be Máiréad

  • Are her names irish?

  • She is so sweet

  • I like Méav's voice the best out of all the Celtic Woman's voices. She has a special talent, to be able to hit all of those high notes and still be pitch perfect and still have a nice, full, round, and beautiful sound.

  • she left the group

  • Does anyone know how old is she?
