I was 11 years old in Pot-au-Prince when this song first came out. I used to cry myself to sleep listening to the song because it reminded me of my mother who had left for New York seeking a better tomorrow for me and my sister. I am 51 years old now and still weep hearing it again. For my family, there was a happy ending by the grace of God.
This one was a huge hit in Port-au-prince. There was even rumours that this was a true story which made the song even more poignant. But, the album altogether was very good. Very close to what Septen and Tropic was doing in Cap-Haitien. With emphasis on the organ.

Mwen pat janm konnen mizè
Mwen pat janm konn nan soufrans
Avan manmanm, papam mwen te mouri
A dizan manmanm sevre m...A douzan papa m kite m

Kòm rekonpans mwen rankontre depti jumo
Men mizèm vìn ogmante...Trouvem ak de pitit sou bram
Se bon pwochen te rekonèt mwenk, lonjem lamen
