It seems pretty clear that the stones are a message for the survivers of a nuclear war. With a massively reduced population caused by the fallout, the message is, don't repeat the same mistakes. Respect human diversity and respect nature. It's clear as a bell. in 1979 nuclear war was a real threat. there was also well regarded theories that said that population explosion was going to cause mass starvation. The stones are a product of their time. they is no call for a cull.

The definition of “carrying capacity” is "the maximum number of animals that a specific habitat or area can support without causing deterioration or degradation of that habitat .” It would be difficult to argue that humans are not causing deterioration or degradation of our habitat. The entire planet and virtually every nation is already vastly overpopulated.

@nt7237 Errors in your post: I'm not from the WWII generation. Every one is actually one word, as in 'everyone'. Abundantly is not spelled "ubundantly". Apparent is not spelled "aperant". Judgmental is not spelled "judgemental". Yourself is not spelled "youreself".
Given your fifth grade spelling capabilities, I'd say you're not 17. I'm certain you're not in any school of higher learning. You're most likely a 15-16 year old with few prospects ahead of you. Everything you write points that way.

@nt7237 don't understand the most fundamental concepts of population. I'm certain you don't understand the impact of the exponential factor of population growth. If you did, you wouldn't continue making silly statements.
And as for other examples, there's also the United Arab Emirates, who own the world's fastest population growth rate. You need to go to school. Truly.

Simply put... incorrect. America alone disposes of more fresh food every day than would be necessary to feed the entire population of the world for that same span of time. Resource hording by elitists is the only reason why it is difficult to see this as the truth. Resources are burned up on irrelevant things, such as war. With the proper education of the world's population, we would find that simple reallocation of resources is all that we need to remain sustainable

@ITSElevenFiftyNine actualy u forget about life beyond our little blue rock. we can and will continue breeding this way u cant to it. but u can divert it. interplanetary and intersellar colonization is the answer to our future. currently if we wanted to we could begin colonization of mars, and eventualy venus with teraforming. its within the relm of our current capabilities, and just emagine what we will do in the next say 100 y? so i try to be optomistic, why r u so down on it?

After all this time since these stones were set in the 1980s, why hasnt there been any protests or petitions to knock these offensive stones down??! Yes I agree the should be removed.Theres much negative attention regarding to them, and these "commandments" are not of our god, I say this is NOT American and get these stones off our American soil asap!!!!

This "guidestone" must be removed. As plain as day, it gives an EXACT number, and promotes HUMAN / POPULATION control. It may not bother you right now... but children will gropw up to read, and know these stones. It is a TRAVISTY to HUMANITY, It sends a bad message, hidden within what appears to be ORDER.

It seems pretty clear that the stones are a message for the survivers of a nuclear war. With a massively reduced population caused by the fallout, the message is, don't repeat the same mistakes. Respect human diversity and respect nature. It's clear as a bell. in 1979 nuclear war was a real threat. there was also well regarded theories that said that population explosion was going to cause mass starvation. The stones are a product of their time. they is no call for a cull.
