  • Go Uncle Kenny!

  • Great solo, Kenny!

  • Just met him last night at a drum clinic great Guy, phenomenal musician

  • Amazing! Technically excellent & will follow the artist's song, but when you let loose, that's all bro.!!♪

  • I saw him break a brand new cymbal in his first clinic song. Then he noodled on his Powerbook and so I went out next month and ordered the 1.67 GHz PBG4 with a gig of RAM. Now I want my BMus... :)

  • sounds alittle like stewart copeland!

  • awesome, a drum solo with an awesome groove

  • i once saw huck play like this in drum

  • Unlike JoJo Moceri who can't play worth a shit

  • i wish he would just play something tasty...oh well

  • the band that Mellencamp put together for the Scarecrow album was a great rock band .

  • Great, I love his playing.

  • God!

  • he came to my school (also his former high school) and played a show fucking amazing drummer one of the best

  • The Best!!!

  • @JoeJacari Got to interview Kenny once. He uses his toms that way because he hit his nose one time going across his face with the stick. With this setup, he is able to cross left and right in any combination and his face is safe. And you're right about UFC - he's a very fit guy, about 5'9" and in amazing shape. I don't know about fighting style, but he's crazy solid.

  • does he still play with smashing pumkins

  • i wonder if he still plays with smashing pumkins

  • And I thought Joey Jordison was good..

  • Very good my brother.... the best bater...5*****

  • I have met Kenny at several drum clinics and he is a very nice guy. Always willing to hang out and talk after the clinics. Very down to earth. Not a big head like Dave Weckl. (sp)?

    peace

  • i have meet him yesterday at a john fogerty concert, he's a really nice guy!!

  • Kenny arnoff is my uncles best friends cousins neighbor. LOL

  • Kenny aronoff is a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of mine.

    LOL.

  • kenny aronoff is my friends uncle!

  • cant wait for to see him at drum clinic tonight!!!

  • I love all forms of music and I love to play and listen to drums. Kenny is a talented, solid drummer with good taste and great feel. There are great drummers in every style, all for us to appreciate. Kenny, DeJohnette, Erskine, Hakim, Phillips, Kirke, they're all good!

  • Kenny Aronoff, BEST of all time! Rocked with Mellencamp, Fogerty, and the Stones to name a few

  • Comment removed

  • have you seen him play with John Forgety?..marvelous!

  • He rocked in Chicago!

  • Hes the New Stryper drummer!!

  • His solos remind me of a grand finale at a fireworks show.

  • Kenny Aronoff is my friends uncle

  • lucky dude...wish he was my uncle haha i'd make him give me lessons for my birthday and xmas haha

  • i've met him and he played me and like 11 other people a 20 minute drum solo

  • My favorite drummer in the world. Go Kenny Go! Be sure to watch this video through the very end, he goes nuts on the cymbals and toms. Can You say A W E S O M E? Good, I knew You could!

  • He`s amazing on `Tear`

  • Please check out his performance with `Smashing Pumpkins` live at Botanique gardens

  • i was going tosay the same thing as rx2411

  • What I really like about kenny is the fact that he plays this well but is also an amazing pocket player! john mellencamp and John fogerty both have used him.

  • relaxed.alot of flavor.outstanding!

  • The guy can play and I`ve met him too - seemed like a good dude to me. If you don`t dig his stuff don`t waste brain time listening to it. Go find something you like instead. Pretty simple, really.

  • hes amazing =O

someone reply, does he use a double pedal?

  • i saw him earlier on in the year at a drum clinic hosted by my drumming school, and he used a double pedal at the clinic so i assume he uses one all the time maybe? i dunno... either way hes amazing and hes a cool guy too. :D

  • Yes,

He has an iron cobra twin pedal,

but note he doesn't always use it!!!

  • Kenny kicks butt!

  • man i really like those tom sounds. interesting that he has the highest pitch one to the right

  • This guy is amazing, He played with the smashing pumpkins for a while.

  • He's a good drummer. If you like or do not like something you don't have to try and force your opinion down everybody elses throats. Something people on youtube seem to have a strong tendency towards doing.

  • Man i totally agree with you...

  • i don't understand why everyone does this. why people feel the need to do a search on someone they hate, only to say they suck balls. yeah it's not a super solo, but it's pretty cool in general people who send youtube hate comments need to get a boyfriend/girlfriend or a hobbyand calm down. we don't bad mouth your shit you don't bad mouth ours. i think some people just need to rub some vagisil on.

  • tiger9809, i COMPLEtELY agree with you. if you dont like it then dont watch it. and you dont need to comment either. if you are gonna leave a negative comment, at least be respectful with wat you say

  • yay... playing as fast as possible and hoping that ignorant fans will enjoy.

  • "jazzmessenger8", everyone with a number in their name is an ignorant fuck, and that's a fact. Shut your mouth or upload some of your own videos. You'll never ever reach his level. My suggestion is that you see a shrink a try to solve whatever problem it is you have.

  • You're an idiot. "everyone with a number in their name is an ignorant fuck, and that's a fact. " You're an ignorant fuck for saying that. And as my name implies, I listen to jazz, and after getting conditioned to those drummers, jokes like kenny Aronoff with their chops don't impress me at all. I'm impressed by GOOD drummers, such as Jack Dejohnette, but you probably have no idea who he is since you're too afraid to leave the "modern drummer" safe haven.

  • I like jazz AND rock. And what Kenny's doing here is pretty incredible. In the style of rock, that is. Jazz drumming is really musical and great too. For example--the most well-known jazz drummer of all time, Buddy Rich. But yeah, I like both genres. By the way, molololtow, am I an ignorant fuck?

  • @jazzmessenger8 Kenny Aaronoff played with Kenny Kirkland (one of the greatest keyboard players of my generation), Cecil McBee Jr. and Me in my band Rob Zantay's Fusion, back in the late 70's. We were playing my tunes and allot of funk style jazz tunes. he played like a mixture of Harvey Mason and Steve Gadd. His grooves were amazing and he would play the parts from tunes off Harvey Mason's "Funk in a Mason Jar" pitch perfect. He was actually a jazz/ funk drummer before he was a rock star. Rob Z

  • Yes, of course. You listen to jazz so you're enlightened and everyone else could be called 'idiot'. And moreover you call 'jokes' some musicians because they don't play jazz like Dejohnette. Very smart way to convey really profound thoughts, nothing to say...

  • thanks for making a pointless comment.

  • Kenny is an incredible drummer. Maybe one of the best sudiodrummers for different pop/rock-styles. don't listen to this solo, listen how variable he plays when works together with totally different artists, like shawn colvin, jon bon jovi ( Blaze of glory), billy Pilgrim, richie sambora's second album and so on....i wish i could affort kenny playing to my tracks...!!! keeper of the groove-play on!!!

  • YOUR A FUCKING HOMO JAZZ MESSENGER

  • Pfft. I bet you like Travis Barker.

  • For some reasons I did`nt like him before but I grown to realize that he is very GOOD!

  • Don't watch and just listen. It sounds like a kid in his garage spazzing out. Fail!

  • mmmmMM where are all them sexy guys gone? im single and i want a hottt dateee check out my profile - Play-Cam _dot_ COM -

  • i agree with russdonruss because i have to met and talk to him at several drum clinics he is a great guy and great teacher and a great drummer so unless you know what your talking about just because he doenst have a name as big as mike portnoy doesnt mean hes bad

  • i love to listen as much as i love to play.

    murphy.

  • you are a true learner .... I bet you smoke the kit. I love listening as well as much as playing.

  • its strange that he was hitting on old moms during his demonstration, he sucks....

  • reggaecracker you're kidding right?! If he sucks then you REALLY suck. Kenny is one of the most called upon drummers in the business ... check out how many c/d's and albums he's on ... it must be because he "sucks so bad"? Give your stupid fucking airhead a shake jack off bitch! Goto a site you know more about ...sucking...and I don't mean at drumming.

  • yeah well it's not qauntity, its quality, rock beats are boring and do not stimulate my brain. look at the cd's he has played on. most generic boring beats around. It takes alot more for me to be interested, I met this guy, set up his gear and watched demo...wasn't impressed, I use the word suck casually, yeah he plays rock beats, ooooo, ahhhhh...I grew out of that in 8th grade.

  • well.. I think it's about solidity. You're probably an amature that needs to hear "boom bash crash ticka ticka boom boom ARRRRRRGHHHHH" but it's us REAL musicians who appreciate all...solid and "boom bash crash ticka ticka boom boom ARRRRRRGHHHHH". Now go learn to play.

  • Once you hit the 10th grade you might appreciate solidity ...if you're smart that is. Meanwhile, because Kenny "sucks" so bad ...he's the most requested drummer in the music field for the past 20 years. Check out HOW MANY cd's he's played on...then tell me what you've accomplished.

  • Brasiiill, esse cara nem passa perto do Terry Bozzio.

  • he is incredlible. u see what he does with his dynamics when he is still riding on the hithat with both sticks? amazing

  • In a few weeks my friend and I might get lessons from Kenny Aronoff! My friends dad knows Kenny!!

  • Aronoff is da man. I've had the pleasure of meeting him twice, and he is the nicest dude, not to mention he is a monster set player. I can't think of too many names he hasn't played with. Now if only he would reply to my email I sent him...

  • his setup is kinda weird

  • he likes his toms apart

  • What are those splashes between his toms, I love the sound.

  • Kenny's greatest strength is being a song drummer, soloing like this make him look like a lesser-than because so many people do it better. When he sticks to his game, he's up there, and that's why he works.

I will say though that seeing old clips of him he was a lot looser and his feel was funkier. I think he's gotten tighter, either by decision or a gradual thing from working out which he obviously does.

    Try yoga dude.

  • im with you bro his kit sounds weak

  • I bet yours sounds amazing.

  • mine does

  • Kenny's set up is great.. he uses Starclassics by tama... they are soe of the best sounding drums you can buy from a major brand--other than of course DW and a select few others... Part of the sound you don't like is the sustain he has, which for studio work is ideal as they can filter and tweak the sound to fit any scenario. This is a dry mix, no effects or filtering, so of course it will sound different than an actual recording after mixdown...

  • his kit sounds sick what do you like big deep 80's shit with the snare that sounds like its dead and fat fucking toms that sound bloated? his snare is sick so are his toms i bet your toms dont sound like that.

  • Now everybody hates you. Have you noticed that you have the first negative comment. This guy Rocks. If I hadn't watched his Vic Firth Interview, I would never use the Ride or the toms.

  • well i met him, set up his gear, and watched a demo, he sucked and was kind of mean to everyone.

  • I don't believe you for a minute. Kenny is a serious person for sure when it comes to drumming, but he has very little ego, is approachable and willing to take the time to talk with people. I met him several times, once in particular at a NAAM show in LA, where he signed a mag cover and we talked for a while about the music industry. As for you setting up his gear, doubt that very much...

  • good doubt it all you want... we laughed the whole night cause this was most dumb demonstration we have ever seen...we were worse off after his demo.....

  • Pure genius. Like Weckl, but Aronoff is more the original and still the best. This vid is just a taste of what he can do, and he's a rock drummer. Amazing he stayed awake throught the JCM concerts.

  • the man has tons of power behind his strokes, I guess its all those exercises hes done, there very boring evercises but appearantly effective, that and also he has a lot of enthusiasm and puts that energy in to his playing!

  • Moeller technique is the source of the power.

  • i mean cmon...this is NASTY! you can tell hes been playing for at least 5 years

  • I hope you were just joking cus hes been playing much more than 5 years!

  • umm...This guy is one of the most famous freelance drummers today. I hope you WERE joking.

  • The groove at timestamp 00:57 is just so yummy!

  • no doubt

  • one the best rock drummers ever.

  • The most bad ass drummer of ALL TIME!!!

  • He's a real badass.

  • mate!

  • ....this gent is an amazing true talent..saw him with John Fogarty a few years back....John was super but this Kenny cat made it for me....top 3 drummers for my list, you know the others! Peace!

  • nice groove

  • Now here's a cat who eats, drinks, sleeps, and revolves his entire world around the drums. Kenny Aronoff ROCKS!!!

  • his playing style's like his nose:D....

  • Haha :D

I have a very funny story about his nose actually. a few years ago he actually broke his nose because he hit it pretty hard with his stick. You know how this guy plays. Well, he got his nose straightened, but... a couple of weeks later he did it again. That's why a plays open-handed nowadays. He has a hi-hat on his right. It's his main hi-hat which keeps his nose safe :)

  • kenny doesn't look a day over 50 but he's actually quite old..

  • he did the drumming for the movie that thing you do right?

  • ya along with Billy Ward

  • He has a twin brother that is identical, cant play drums a lick

  • jivechump!!! pure and simple envy.

  • yawn

  • agreed

  • i love kenny's work and to really appreciate him u shuld see him live

  • It is pleasant to me as plays on drums Kenny Aronoff.
