The true high point of this great bands career. Hi Infidelity was the last of the good albums put out by REO. Once Kevins influence overshadowded Garys, this band started a fairly quick decent to mediocrity..
@tonec7 They would often open a show with this song for that very reason - the sound board would have a chance to tweak the settings factoring in the crowd noise. I recall watching Gary communicate with the sound man by using subtle hand signals during his guitar solo. What an incredibly talented and gifted professional - even one-handed!! Not just playing, but some of the most meaningful song writing ever. I believe that there is even deep meaning while Gary tuned his strings.
Filmed 9/22/78 at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, MO for the Midnight Special. I was in the front with a friend. You can see him in his overalls with me next to him 2:15-2:18. I just recently found this, weird to see me 32 years ago. Many of us came up from Lexington, MO to this concert. It was the fourth and final time I saw REO. Sadly my friend was killed 3 years after this.
Hey wymanv, if you stop the video at 3:03 and 3:04 you can see the bottom one person, African descent and apparently He are holding something like a sax in his hand exactly one second after of the saxophone sound stopped , maybe he could be the sax player who never we can seen close up!!!
If I'm not mistaken this clip first aired on either Don Kirshner's Rock Concert or The Midnight Special (I wanna say Kirshner) back in the day. It's the studio track dubbed over live footage (note the absence of a sax player). And after all these years it's the only REO song I can tolerate all the way through (thanks, classic rock FM radio). Thanks for sharing it-brings back memories.
@wymanv Couldn't agree with you more on the classic rock FM comment. Our crappy station here in Houston (93.7 the Arrow) apparently thinks the only song Aerosmith ever released was "Walk this Way". It's not so much classic rock as classic "hits" and they've beaten the hits to death!
Sorry to be negative about anything about REO, but what in the hell happened between this video and the stuff three years later? They looked great in this and absolutely terrible three years later. Why did Kevin cut his hair and go to Richard Simmons' stylist after this video? The song is far out though. Heck, I even like Hi Infidelity.
UHHHHHHHHH The song you are thinking of is 'WHEREVER YOUR GOING,ITS ALLRIGHT'...That song is off the 'best foot forward' album.......But this is a great song as well
this oldie but goodie clip brought back lots of memories of my first ROCK concert @ Alpine Valley in Wisconsin..... watching it from a tree so we could see with my honey.
@zeena3963 -- If you mean the 1980 "Hi Infidelity Tour" show at Alpine Valley as your FIRST concert, consider yourself fortunate. Has to be the BEST concert I ever attended - before, during and after the show was a great experience. (Thanks again, Big Art). WOW...Rock on...

In my not-so-humble opinion, Rock n' Roll does not get any better than this.
