 愛知県の陶の里、瀬戸で’磁祖’とあがめられる加藤民吉にまつわ­る歌。、長崎県北松浦郡の皿山で修行。佐賀藩などが極秘とした磁­器の焼き物を密かに学び、この間、国に妻がいるにもかかわらず、­娶った窯元の新しい妻を捨て、瀬戸へ帰ってしまったという。陶工­を思い悲しむ皿山の妻の歌で、小説や歌舞伎芝居にもなっている。­市役所ソングで知られた峯が、情感を込めて歌い、メジャーへ飛躍­の期待を抱かせる。

Yoko Mine really really portrays the sadness of this song with such touching abilities. Beautiful video.

Sometimes sad hurts so good- thus the appeal of the "melancholy" genre of pop music, whether it be Fado, Enka, or modern Chanson.
