I AM ABOUT TO SPOIL THAT PART OF THE MOVIE!!! ..but to make it simple it's an illusion. a demom shape shifts to look like Kuronue to fight Kurama pysicly while also torturing him mentally by showing him a fake version of the past in order to convince Kurama that he betrayed Kuronue and therefore deserves to die. but Kurama realizes his friend would never try to kill him even if he did betray him (which he didnt) so he killed the imposter
