I guess its a matter of personal preference. I think some of Edberg's strokes, particularly his forehand, look a bit odd in the same way. I find it charming and it makes you wonder each stroke, is he going to make it!!!
I think McEnroe's slice backhand and his sharp cross-court rip when he takes the ball early are waaay cool locking.
Nah, Johnbr59 I could see your claim off the forehand but his backhand is a thing of beauty. Oh, I suppose it's not pretty to you unless its that cookie-cutter stuff that all the pros hit today, spare me.
looks like he uses the same grip on both sides, that explains the weak backhand drive. Don't see that much in today's game. Nice video work there, Fuzzy!
Just like in boxing, lefties do well because their opponents are accustomed to going against 80+% righties and therefore don't have much experience dealing with lefties.
thats actually decent footwork

Don't know why his opponent keeps hitting to his backhand. It's far and away his better side.

We can agree to disagree. YouTube search this:
John McEnroe: A Moment in Time
What's next, his service stance is awkward and his volleys are ugly too? 8 Doubles Majors. 7 Singles Majors would that you or I could be so ugly :)
KingCast65 2 years ago
yes the strokes do look a bit better in that vid. they may be ugly but they are effective

Why is it that almost all good tennis players are left handed???
TimeFreeze1 2 years ago
They're good but the ones with the most grandslams are right handed and have single backahands.

it's either that most left-handed players play left naturally, or they do it to get an edge somewhere, like serving
