Like all parties the BNP undergoes change and modernizes its views and policies. To say the BNP have freedom of speech and "plenty of airtime" is absurb. Yesterday the BNP had about 10 seconds of airtime on BBC News 24 compared to hours of airtime to the other parties. It's far from a fair/equal platform.
If there is any evidence that any teacher is allowing their political biases to interfere with their job performance then they should be investigated. If a teacher has been doing their job with no problems for years, and then they're suddenly "outed" as a BNP member, it obviously hasn't affected their job. Why stop at banning membership? Why not also ban support? What if a teacher votes for the BNP every election, and regularly donates money to the BNP, but doesn't have their name on a list?

If there is any evidence that any teacher is allowing their political biases to interfere with their job performance then they should be investigated. If a teacher has been doing their job with no problems for years, and then they're suddenly "outed" as a BNP member, it obviously hasn't affected their job. Why stop at banning membership? Why not also ban support? What if a teacher votes for the BNP every election, and regularly donates money to the BNP, but doesn't have their name on a list?
