I had to write something so that the comment below me wasnt the first thing UGA fans saw. Real GT fans know that UGA has the series lead, that the rings WERE in fact made because a Tech team finally stepped up and beat UGA (I asked BeyBey Thomas himself and he said it was for that AND for getting a bowl for the 12th year in a row. It says "12 Straight" on one side of the ring, "45-42" on the other), and no, GT did not snap an 8-year losing streak, it was a 7-year.

True, but remember, when Sapp broke the "Dodd Drought" at Grant Field in 1957 Uga retired his jersey! I think they have only retired 4 jerseys....Sinkwich, Trippi, Sapp, and Walker. Not sure, but I don't believe Sapp was ever a first team All-American.

Aside from breaking an 8-year streak with the only touchdown of the UGA/GT game, Theron Sapp in no way belongs in the same league as Sinkwich and, needless to say, Herschel Walker, and besides: getting rings for snapping a streak isn't anywhere close to "immortalizing" a jersey number for it... Then again, Tech named the stadium for the coach that beat UGA 8 years in a row! (although it wasnt the ONLY reason lol)

The rings were given to the players as part of the Chik-fil-a bowl gift package. The seniors chose to put the score on them. It was not a "custom made state championship ring" or a "commemorative victory ring given to the players by the school" as the AJC erroneously reported.

And GT had a good year this year and made it to the sugar bowl, so they got ring's. They did not make rings just because they beat UGA it was because they made it to a big bowl game and it just so happened that GT beat UGA this year and ended an 8 year streak, so they decided to put that on there rings for that year.

Nope, Tech has 39 wins in the series...UGA fans don't count 1943 or 1944, when Tech had Navy V-12 program guys playing...but South Carolina had V-12 players, and Clemson counts the 1943 game they lost to SC. Many other schools count those losses to WWII Navy V-12 teams without whinning, and as Bill Cromartie (UGA grad & author of a book on Tech-UGA series) put it, once the fans paid their money and the 2 teams kick it off, it's official. Oh, & UGA retired Sapp's jersey after he broke drought.
