Here's a theory about Kaworu after seeing the film...

He keeps saying weird stuff like:

"The third again, you don't change do you... I look forward to meeting you Ikari Shinji" 1.0

"The time has come again." 2.0

''This time I will make sure you are happy Shinji." 2.0

My conclusion: He is the same Kaworu, or at least has the memories of, the Kaworu which appeared in the original TV series.

Parallel Universe?

Ive seen the first 2 films and they are done beautifully. They are true homages to the original with added extras that fit perfectly. Mari is also a great addition, she is a new child that ends up being an eva pilot.

This is the new revamped evangelion series. The creator and geneon are remaking the series as true as possible to the original. They are redoing the animation and putting the series out in theatres in 4 parts. The first 2 have been released as Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone and Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. The series has many of the old factors but with new charms. Several new voice actors(english and japanese), an advanced storyline and a new child named Mari.

It's not "as true to the original as possible" not by a long shot. It may progress in a similar but after the first movie everything is a complete re-imagining with new characters and re-designed angels and a new take on the story all together.

I didnt mean that its the same exact thing. That'd be lame, it would just be another dumb remake. This is going to add more depth to the characters and give a better ending than the original. I meant its true in the fashion of style its taking. In my mind, it pays respect to the first series. Has the same characters, director, creator, and animators on board, thats staying pretty true to the first one. I woldnt want an exact remake.

fair enough, I just always saw this sort of a remake as more of a re-telling or a re-imagining, a remake to me is something along the lines of Dragonball Kai. Though I guess that's just more of a personal term than I thought it was. Also, I've been looking high and low for somewhere to see the second movie, if you saw it online or managed to find a torrent or something, could I bother you for the address or location?

Actually, I am currently doing an exchange program and am in Japan for 3 months. I got to see it at the Milans Theatre but I could only understand some of it.
