If there was a proper medical office providing abortions at a reasonable price (around here, Austin, TX, there are charities that will help pay) things like that wouldn't happen. There are counselors who have worked at these clinics who have confirmed that they are told to say whatever they have to in order to get a female to decide on abortion. There is no denying the facts. ColdLance, I assume you've never had a child or seen an ultrasound? A baby has a detectable heartbeat 6-7 weeks in utero with the nervous system developing at the same time. If you've ever talked to a woman about feeling her baby kick around 16 weeks in utero, you would know that that baby is undoubtedly not just "cells." Or, if you've ever seen a preemie born at 25 weeks, you would learn that the survival rate is around 80% and those preemies are no less baby than a baby born at 40 weeks.
FYI, it's because of ignorance, like that of ColdLance, that Planned Parenthood is so adamant against women seeing ultrasounds of their babies prior to electing to abort them. If they saw the ultrasounds, they would realize the truth of their "choice." Just remember that we ALL have the free choice to have sex or not have sex and to use birth control. As far as your reference to the unborn as a mere fetus, you may need to check your facts. From a medical standpoint life begins at conception. There is physical DNA present, and babies do feel the pain. There are videos of an abortion showing the baby trying to move away from the knife.

@logjam101 Read a book, plz- if you knew the first THING about neurology, you'd know that electrical impulse/chemical reactions that spur automatic/instinctive movements are not the same as thinking/feeling- and the parts of the brain that even REACT to/interpret pain are not even formed until much later in child development- 6,7 months en utero.
Thee is a REASON why none of us remember conception/development, or even birth- we are not even present.

ColdLance, I assume you've never had a child or seen an ultrasound? A baby has a detectable heartbeat 6-7 weeks in utero with the nervous system developing at the same time. If you've ever talked to a woman about feeling her baby kick around 16 weeks in utero, you would know that that baby is undoubtedly not just "cells." Or, if you've ever seen a preemie born at 25 weeks, you would learn that the survival rate is around 80% and those preemies are no less baby than a baby born at 40 weeks.

Thalamacortial connections do not form until at least 26 weeks. Without them, it is impossible to perceive pain. Of course by the 26th week, the brain is already formed and small EEG's or brain waves are picked up. 90% of the time, abortions happen in the first few weeks before a nervous system forms. There is no brain, heart, nerves, or anything beyond a cluster of cells.
The other 10% is usually due to things like rape, incest, or conditions which WILL kill the mother like ectopic pregnancy (my girlfriend had this problem, could not carry to term).
Unless you advocate the death of a pregnant woman/girl, or kids being forced into motherhood, you must admit that sometimes abortion should be an option.
