Again, great job, especially with the solo. I'd be impressed if anyone tried to imitate one of Lifeson's solos, period, because they're so random. But playing one on an acoustic, and you didn't miss a note. Awesome, man.
I think it was in Neil Peart's book "Traveling Music" where I read that when Lifeson is recording a solo for one of their songs, he'll record several takes in which he is 'winging it,' as you said, and then he'll take the best phrases from each one and splice them all together for the final version. Then he has to go back and learn the finished product so he can play it live. Based on how his solos sound, this didn't surprise me.
This is great! Thanks for sharing. I've been playing the guitar for 35 years and I'm right with you on this one. 12 string Alverez, Peavey Tracer, Yamaha D55 are mine. I need a new effects processor and a Les Paul Custom with a Marshall stack. Dan in Oregon, IL.
My friend....Acoustic or not......those ARE the right cords for this song. I posted a video of myself playing this and people were crediting me for playing it right......and then YOUR video had to come along...And I'm glad it did.
I'm extremely jealous.....Awesome job!
I'd hate to see you on an electric guitar.......I know your dangerous.
Alex is quite a chameleon with the chord work....What looks like what you think he is playing..........he really throws you for a loop with something that sounds slightly different such as those from Hemispheres. Eddie Van Halen has said himself that Alex plays chords he's never even heard of. Lifeson has dabbled in different tunings like 'The Big Money'...and he's familiar with the 'Nashville ' tuning also.
Just beautiful! So good! It's my favorite rush song and it just sounds so great here

Thanks musicman70707, Lifeson's solos are random, he says he 'wings' them which is amazing.

That's exactly how I heard he recorded solos. Works well when you hear results.

"I know your dangerous" - you had me laughing on that one, thanks!
I tried a few variations on the chords, I think it's just about right, this is a difficult one to know exactly how lifesons' playing it.
