To all you folk I won't watch the US version because I'm watching the UK version but honestly the UK and US are constantly remaking shows just like there's an English version of the GIrl with the Dragon Tattoo I won't watch because I already saw the orignal which was awesome! It happens all the time for those who cannot understand the Brits accent I guess the US version helps better understand but the Brits always seem to have great shows!
Who cares which version is better, watch whatever you prefer. Some of us Americans would have never known about a UK version if it wasn't for the remake.

No, the reason why it's being remade is because UK Shameless was a great show that did extremely well in the UK. Sadly, US viewers are very much wrapped up in their own little bubble, and US TV channels rarely show foreign shows. Those who brought this show over to the US obviously thought that it deserved to be more widely known. The US remake is a tribute to the original UK version - very rarely are bad shows remade because it often isn't worth it (financially).

The Projects are a great deal different than The Estates in terms of who is eligible and the responsibilities once they're leased.
