  • Thanks for sharing!

  • 1968?

  • What the hell?!!!

  • What's the name of this song?

  • @monkeysoulpoet sarcastic much? boo boo boop

  • Charles Manson's tribute band.

  • Isso é melhor que Machine Music do Lou Reed

  • I just got this record at a thrift store. Sounds like $2 well spent.

  • This recording was done w/tongue in cheek to see how many gullible idiots would pretentiously herald it as "real art" so they could look 'edgy'. From the looks of things, it worked quite well. As usual, Zappa had the last laugh ...

  • @vampyros1 Hey brother, its not about classy art and fitting in with the Post-Modern High society folks, its about music. As the great Ray Charles Once said "There are only two kinds of music, good music and bad music"

  • @Crunchybear1 Exactly; good music and BAD music (and I believe the quote was from Ellington) ...happy listening.

  • @vampyros1 That actually was not the purpose of Wild Man Fischer's music. He had schizophrenia and this just matched his personality. Frank signed him because he was different and Frank was all about providing people with music that you couldn't find anywhere else.

  • @LuneyTune72 I didn't say the music didn't "match" Fischer's personality; I said the recording was "done", as in spearheaded, by Zappa with that impetus. Frank was also "all about" yankin' yer chain, you know ...

  • @vampyros1 Yes, but he didn't write Fischer's lyrics or create his style. I don't know what you mean by "real art" because any form of music can be considered art. It's true that there were times when people didn't realize they were laughing at themselves when enjoying Frank's music, but that wasn't what was intended when he wrote the song.

  • @LuneyTune72 Enjoy it as a novelty like Zappa did, (tho it's snooze-fest compared to The Shaggs), but for intrinsic musical value? No. Most who like this drivel like to think they're 'advanced' because they 'get something' the rest of us don't, which is delusional, hilarious and pathetic; fact is, they just need to feel edgy by being so 'open-minded'. 'Killer' is sheer genius ... THAT'S art. 'Shut Up And Play Yer Guitar' ... brilliant ART. This? SHIT for people with a pretentious agenda.

  • @vampyros1 Are you referencing Alice Cooper's "Killer" album? I don't know anyone who says, "Wow, this guy understands music" when they hear Wild Man Fischer. I think you are being too cynical about this to a point where you yourself are making assumptions that aren't true, and if they are then why care? Anyways, yes, The Shaggs's music is interesting as well but I think Fischer's story and character is more interesting.

  • @LuneyTune72 Yes (re: 'Killer'). Most see this as sheer novelty and appropriate the "genius" moniker as a superlative for "this is so bad it's great!", and fittingly so. Scanning the comments here tho, it's clear that irony is lost on some. And that assertion is neither assumptive nor cynical, btw. Frank's taste was 'outsider', and sometimes, as was the case with the Alice Cooper GROUP, it came with a load of talent. Sometimes, as was the case here, it didn't.

  • @vampyros1 Also, I was pointing out that it was his personality because you accused it of being some sort of device for "gullible idiots" to misinterpret. If you think his music is bad or weird then you think that, it's just different and that's the reason Frank liked it. Not everything Frank did was about cynicism or satire, in other words, he was always "yankin' yer chain."

  • @LuneyTune72 I didn't say it was Fischer's device; it was Zappa's, and it was for gullible idiots to revel in, and they did/do, and Zappa wailed.

  • Okay, I'm stealing this video, & I'm going to loop the shit out of it.

  • RIP Larry my cousin. I wrote a tribute song about his life & music. Please watch my "Crazy Cousin Larry" music video here on youtube.

  • RIP Larry, I love you!

  • RIP Wild Man

  • @westernstar4949 I agree 100%. Music nowadays sucks ass

  • @fatman2124 No, you just can't see past the worst of the Top 40.

  • @fatman2124 Music is in the same state as it ever was. You need to look past the bulk.

  • R.I.P.

He died on my birthday and I was on the internet that day and it didnt pop up

I just found out about it NOW!!!

  • This is the craziest thing I have ever heard. Motherfucking awesome, man.

  • fair sound

  • R.I.P. Larry "Wild Man" Fischer!

  • This is still better then most of the crap on the radio now.

  • Awesome.

  • A unique talent, to say the less. He's sure better than a lot of the stuff on "American Idol."

  • R.I.P. Larry...

  • We laughed nervously about this when we were kids. No less unsettling now. RIP.

  • R.I.P. Larry. Merry Go Round and Jennifer Jones were anthems on my college radio station (WHRW-FM). Music like this would never see the light of day today.

  • Do not listen unless you like to have obnoxious amateurish music echoing in your head for hours.

  • Oh my god. When I saw these comments I didn't believe it. I'm depressed now. :(

  • @amozoness6 Thank you for the music Larry.. :(((

  • Rest in Peace Wild Man.

  • He sounds like Dane Cook.

  • RIP Larry.

Derailroaded is a wonderful documentary on a simple and very likable man. I was moved to tears at the end when he visits his dying aunt. She never forsaked him because of his illness and respected him as an artist.

  • Wildman and ODB are rockin duets in the afterlife.

  • RIP Wild man.

  • RIP WMF

  • Larry, please say hi to Frank

    REST IN PEACE

  • @kinoptika also say hi to Captain Beefheart too!

  • Rest in Peace, Larry.

  • R.I.P Larry Fischer.

  • RIP Larry! You were a badass motherfucker in what you did!

  • Timeless genius!

  • Love this shit. The Taster is prob my fave though, his vocal style is just something else. so awesome.

  • Thanx for the information,Brother! :)

  • I Have been wantin' to hear this Album for years! Thanx for postin' this!!! Do you have any Idea why the Zappa Family Disowned this album & Refused to Rerelease this one?

  • @psyckonaut It's because Larry tried to hurt Moon Unit Zappa by tossing some object that nearly missed her.

  • @irishpogi he was pissed and threw a bottle (indiscriminately) that almost hit Zappa's wife ..Frank told him to fuck off. and their relationship pretty much ended there ...larry did a song called "Frank" quite funny ..off the "pronounced normal " album..

  • @irishpogi true story ??? So like Larry was really wacked out like the video ?

  • @skunkdad7 If want to find out more about it from different sources then I would search for "Wild Man Fischer Derailroaded Clips." Fischer was not a "bad man," he suffered from a bad case of schizophrenia and it messed up his life. His attack was bound to happen and Frank admitted that he knew of previous stories of Fischer attacking relatives, referring to him as literally "wild."

  • @psyckonaut It's on Amazon if you REALLY want it, but it's not cheap. (Zapped)

  • @psyckonaut It's on Amazon if you REALLY want it, but it's not cheap. (Zapped comp)

  • @psyckonaut It has been told that Frank dropped the project after Wild Man Fischer nearly killed Moon Unit by almost hitting her in the head (as a baby) with a beer bottle. When this happened, Frank told Fischer that they were through because he couldn't risk Fischer's dangerous, schizophrenic side harming his family. Fischer was known to physically abuse his own relatives. Anyways, Fischer allegedly threatened to kill Frank after the project was canceled, and Frank strongly disliked him.

  • He's exactly like Justin Bieber, only totally different. Poop Poop Poop!

  • @problem49 Exactly like him, but totally different? How is that possible?

  • True genious? I thought they were kidding when he was on Laugh-In! I remember seeing him do this one and thought it was a pretty groovy song for that era and thought maybe a band had performed it. I had no idea this guy was for real! I thought it was a joke.

He hears the music in his head and that makes him very passionate about it. I wouldn't say a genious but I'd like to have some of the drugs he's on. LOL!

  • John Peel used to play this album in 1969.In the mid 1990`s I could have bought the album for £10 but didn`t.Regretted it ever since.

  • Fischer's work has an awful beauty of its own. It doesn't deserve to work - but it does work, like a raucous Alban Berg of the sidewalks.

  • AH

  • i could sign a hundred "larry's" today. if you live in L.A. you find that virtually every mental misfit has somehow found their way there.

i see people like "larry" talking/singing/screaming to the air.

somone was able to follow one, record him, and thank god they had a Casio handy for that incredible backing music.

while i feel for larry and all the "larry's" it is nothing but a MASSIVE stretch to adress him as talented. interesting the way people look at a bar fight or freeway accident.

  • i watched this in a while, still kicks ass

  • indeed, this does bring a smile to one's face ... it was a trip back then and it still is a trip

  • HEY!! :) This makes me smile

  • There's a very fine line between genius and lunacy -- and this is way past that line

Listening to it thru headphones is a total trip

The psychotic-break factor is more than doubled, and maybe squared

If you've never heard it that way, you gotta try it

  • This is so off the wall, you have to love it.

This was his craft; yes, he's crazy, but a true original.

  • I heard this on Frank's "Zapped" LP back around '70. Every bodies going Merry Go Round!

  • wow -.- I love how this video is very appealing to Males but I as one female, find this actually pretty entertaining:D

  • We used to sit drinking in 'Nam and listen - it really made sense out of everything - no kidding!

  • Help! I need 'An evening with wild man fischer' on CD! Can not get it anywhere!

  • @Jonnyreb1988 Gail Zappa won't release that on CD, but it is available on the net.

  • schizo indeed

  • In a odd way-this really sounds good...

  • I like it. Sounds like he knows Mary very well.

  • he reminds me of bobcat goldtwat

  • The thing about this song is that if it were done "professionally," it'd probably be a teen-pop hit. Wild Man Fischer is a genius.

  • this song is hysterical!! cmon everyone lets go merry go meRY! go RounD!

  • hallo sheeter

  • I was in a bluez phase in the early 80'late 70's and was rather stodgy in my taste of true music when a friend turned me onto Larry and then I understood. Some day he will be the Robert Johnson of of a generation.Thank you for posting

  • Thanks for the great commit, He was discovered by Zappa in the late 1960's on Venice Beach Ca. singing songs what he would make up on the spot for a DIME.

    Wildman Fisher is awesome,

The Meds they have him on now Makes him not wanting to make music any more.

  • Wild Man is Wild Man. Accept him for what he is. I wish Gail Zappa would allow this to be reissued on CD. The percussion sounds like a warmup for "The Clap" from CHUNGA'S REVENGE.

  • Yes, I'm a fan of the... Wild Man!!!

  • thats some first class drumming

  • I figure I'm about as crazy a a sh*t house rat, and I gotta love the guy. He's crazy too, and he has the cajones to do it right.

I want to scream songs on an L.A. street corner on the strip as well.

    Maybe someday.

    Go to Larry!!

  • i got this album back in the 70's i paid £2.50

  • With all do respect, saying that this guy is a genius makes no sense. He can't sing, hes not on beat, the song isn't catchy. the fact that he has schizophrenia doesn't make him smart, it just makes him crazy. that being said, zappa was musically inclined, but he also did a load of drugs, and my guess is, is that the signing of wild man fisher is largely due to that.

  • @jjkid007 the fact he can't sing or be on beat is the whole purpose of the thing. you see, if this was just any old guy doing weird stuff, it would be stupid. but try to put this into the big frame: music, not as something to be "catchy" (oh hell no).

also, Frank Zappa did NOT do a load of drugs. he smoked pot TWICE, and he hated it, it gave him a headache. he signed this guy because he wasn't like the rest, he was original. but because you're a li'l kid i can't expect you to understand.

  • @jjkid007

? zappa didn't do drugs; his signing of wild man fisher may have been somewhat exploitative, but that is an entirely different discussion.

  • Professor Farnsworth at 0:50 !

  • @MrChesterfields lol good call

  • I bought mine at a record convention.... $35. 1994

  • what a great cacaphony of sound! i dig this stuff

  • this stuff just puts a big ole smile on my face

  • hes like the poor mans beefheart,

  • he's like the rich man's wildman fischer

  • For those of you who don't know... Wild Man Fischer was found in the 70's by Frank Zapa.

He was diagnosed w schizophrenia when he was like 16 after attacking his mother with a knife.

  • ...and did his mother know he was lost?

  • Wow, how'd he get signed? Well, still, he's better than Lil Wayne and Soulja Fag!

  • @DenverCholoX3 how could you NOT sign a guy like this!

  • @DenverCholoX3 no, actually souljas new stuff is much better then this

  • @totaLybeetLeJuice That doesn't say much. Foo is still whack.

  • @DenverCholoX3 I'm a fag, don't compare me to Soulja Boy.

  • NEVER let it go!

  • if you play this all day, guaranteed insanity

  • I have a copy of this album in excellent condition - is it worth anything ?

  • man probably so, there aren't a lot around.

  • I'll give you 25 bucks for it

  • Yeah, a good copy goes for $85 on E-Bay. How did you come to having this awesome record?

  • gr8!

  • Ahead of his time, absolute genius

  • What the hell...?!

  • Zappa is a genious for producing this

  • My-all-time-favorite-tune!

    thanks...

  • no i fuck ANTIFARLEFT'S mum up her big fat arse and wipe my shitty cock under her nose. LOL

NITRO - DO YOU FUCK KIDS?

    DO YOU FUCK KIDS?

  • Apart from Larry being a true one off, it's great to hear the Mothers playing the backing!

  • wait

    what?

  • Rock and Roll

  • Any connection between this song and that line in Lumpy Gravy - "Merry-go-round, merry-go-round, di di di duh, di di duh - and they call that Doing Your Thing"?

  • wild man is a god

  • I wanted to hear this recording because of it was used in the film "Medium Cool". Cohen v Paramount Pictures Corp. questioned whether the license to use "Merry Go Round" in the film included the later distribution on video. The court decided it did not. Future Technology Clauses.

If you watch Medium Cool today, I believe you will hear someone whistling "Sweet Georgia Brown" instead of this.

Ironically, now I can just listen to this for free today on youtube with no courtroom battle.

  • Your all idiots, this guy is true genius in that he has worked with zappa (the guys from) devo and all while being a paranoid schizophrenic and has achieved more than any of you losers commenting on this site. he actually has a voice of his own and creates something, other than what you all leave in your toilets every morning after your latte!!!!

  • @19garrett71

    word.kids dont even know..

  • @19garrett71 boo boo boo....

Nothing 'wild' about this man.Just slightly funny...nothing more ,nuthin less...

  • @PAULLONDEN

He was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and bipolar disorder with maniac depression at age 16 when he attacked his mother with a knife (a you can see in the cover in the video) landing himself in a pshych ward and didn't get one of his records released because he chucked a glass jar at Zappa's daughter barely missing her. He's pretty much legally insane.

  • @19garrett71 The thing is...if you pay attention to what he's singing, including the weird "poot poot poot" he actually has the songs arranged. He's writing songs, structuring them like classic pop songs, with verses, choruses, bridges and instrumental sections...it takes...some stretching of the mind to realize the guy did have actual TALENT. These are real songs, not just the the click and paste nonsense of Wesley Willis.

  • now dudley (also me) you can add y760nitro to the list of ... SUSPENDED! FAIL!
