I think actress Emma Thompson summed up my feelings fairly accurately when she said "I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It's not enough to say that I don't believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing: I am offended by some of the things said in the Bible and the Qur'an and I refute them."
As a gay guy, I find Christianity and its attitude towards homosexuality deeply unsettling and frankly the Christian Institute can go fuck themselves.
@Deanstuff Don't you realise that homosexuality is being used as a tool by marxist so they can destabilise society even more than they already have done.Another movement Marxist use is feminism only to destabilise society.
This is crazy! You can actually be investigated or lose your job for being against homosexual marriage in the UK? You guys actually support this idea?
I think you will find that the reason why they wanted to fire her was because she was refusing to do her job. Which I'm pretty sure is legal. So for example if I were to refuse to serve customers because they were black or white or Jewish or Christian, I would be fired for not doing my job properly and bringing the brands name onto disrepute. Which in my eyes is the same as what she is doing.
She didn't want to perform a civil partnership in a registrars office, none of which have a religious connotation. It was not a wedding in a church, it was a secular ceremony in a secular environment. So it is shameful that she should be allowed to be exempt based on religious views when really in that situation her religion had nothing to do with it. And being from the UK I can say you have not put these cases in their full context.
Oh, and the five dollar "being similar" was laughable!

If you want to protect your own marriage/instituation of marriage then be happily married and show a good example, dont cheat, only get married once and live a respectful life and raise your children with a good moral code - Stopping gay people from getting married will not help support the tradition of marriage or help your marriage. Marriage/Families are better for society and whether that family are hetro or homosexual makes no difference. The church needs to catch up or get left behind!
So, just because it's same sex, homosexuals are not supposed to be happy? When I get older I want to get married, have kids and hold a steady job as a psychologist, but this type of hate-mongering will probably stop that from happening.
I find it funny that the only excuse christians can give for how bad homosexuality is, is that "the bible says so". The bible also says that all women who do not cover their heads should be stoned.
Please show this, people need to see both opinions.
1. The gentleman's argument is flawed, 2. With all due respect, heterosexuals have been devaluing the importance of marriage for centuries (reference certain Hollywood celebrities), 3. Permitting bigotry to refuse others from sharing the same rights and freedoms that you enjoy is wrong on such an elementary level, that I am surprised that we are still arguing this...
THIS IS RIDICULOUS, I've just realised that he's saying gay marriage would bring down the value of a straight marriage. I think that happened a long time ago, with DIVORCES.
This just goes to show that someone can believe the most hateful things about other people and can act in a really unjust and uncivilized way if they choose to label it a 'religious belief'. Hate is hate and we should stop rewarding hateful people for acting on these beliefs.
I actually couldnt tell if this was a joke until I read the comments. There's nothing wrong with gay marriage. If you feel homosexual relatio9nships are unnatural then look at the many examples in the 'natural world', and you will see that you are wrong. Religion however, is nonsense and 100% disproven in the modern world. The End.
this is disgraceful. seriously. i was a christian for 20 years, and this video reminds me why everyone should be a lot more strident in their anger against these people. if "God" created everything, then he created homosexuality. if being gay is evil, then "God" is evil. think your arguments through with logic and common sense and you will figure this issue out. seriously, i can't believe that humanity is still battling stupidity like this. Gay people should have the same rights as none-gays.
Basic economics: adding money to any economy decreases the value of money within it, completely regardless of whether that money is 'genuine' or 'fake'
I recommend you change the title of this video as it is misleading. "The UK" does not warn that gay marriage is "wrong" - one bigot who happens to be British is expressing his views. The majority of us in the UK are for gay rights.
So the fewer people they are who can get married the more your marriage is worth. Well okay, for the sake of an augment I’ll except that premise. But if that’s the case why just stop gay from getting married why not make it illegal for black to get married? Think how much your married will be worth if it is exclusive to white people.
"Defend freedom" by opposing marriage equality? A pretty clear sign that you've lost the substantive argument, which is why we'll have full marriage equality in the UK by 2015.
If fake $5 flooded the US market, the value of the dollar would fall. If real $5 bills were produced at an increased rate and flooded the US market, the value of the dollar would fall. Quick! Everybody! Stop getting married, as more heterosexual couples get married, you're slowly devaluing everyone else marriage! How could you!?!?
This is a rather poor argument, don't you think...
Yes, because a gay person finding their ultimate soulmate falling in love at first sight, adopting a poor, abandoned orphan, staying faithful to their partner for half a century even after his/her death, living a relationship that brings happiness and harmony to both partners will totally destroy the sanctity of Britney Spears' twelfe-hour vegas marriage. I want this guy to tell me why me wanting to be with another woman for ever is "fake".
Marriage is celebrating two people’s partnership that is made official and guaranteed by civil rights. Getting married does not mean only big party, it is two people who make for life and build home, prepare for raising children, etc. All of these things are dealt with governmental institutions. And, there are marriage courts that make it official, not church. If anything, church is only a festive part. Religion does not possess marriage in any way. Not for them to decide

Fair enough that you don't support gay marriage (kudos to you for at least supporting free speech), but I have to ask: if I don't support/follow along with your religious belief, why should I have my desire to pursue my happiness (with another consenting adult) hijacked by the same religious belief structure? If I am respecting the fact that I will disagree with you, why are you expecting that I have to live under your religious strictures?
@PriestApostate i support taking the religious idea of 'marriage' out of government and putting the benefits the government gives to married couples into a civil partnership for any two people to participate in regardless of religious or sexual status. But 'marriage' in my opinion is a religious institution and tradition, and should remain just that. I honestly have no interest in what you do in your bedroom or to whom you adorn your affections.
@Lisledl i'm saying it's disrespectful of the tradition of marriage in a religious sense, because it has become downgraded from a holy tradition into a governmentally defined status.
Marriage is now a legal practice; most people who marry have no interest in its religious meaning. If they are religious then get married in church. What are non-believers allowed to do if they want to get married? That means gay people get all the rights an atheist heterosexual couple cannot? And as for the counterfeit money theory that’s RUBBISH if your marriage is messed it’s because you messed it up

@OkieConservative But it is a Government institution! When you get married, you're not only married in the eyes of God, you're married in the eyes of the law. As such, it's the responsibility of the state to protect the rights of ALL its citizens, not just heterosexual citizens.
@OkieConservative IF that is a fact . Why are you people working so hard to ban gay marriage via the government? I couldnt care less what you fundamentalists do in your churches. That will never affect my life. In my opinion you are utterly irrelavant .. however, as a tax paying, contributing citizen of this United States, I will fight every last step you take to remove my civil liberties. DONT make that mistake.
@LifterwiII My personal opinion is that civil partnerships should be instituted, and that gays/heterosexuals/anyone else should be allowed to participate. But that the idea of 'marriage' should be a religious ceremony not a government-endorsed institution.
@OkieConservative If you believed that, you wouldn't be pushing for a constitutional (government) ban. Why can't you just follow your own religious beliefs and let others follow theirs?
@OkieConservative BS, you're the one pushing for a constitutional (government) ban. If you wanted the government to stay out of it then you wouldn't be trying to use the government to stop people from getting married. If it's purely a religious institution then you should abide by your own religious beliefs and let other people abide by theirs.
@frellthat I support replacing Marriage in government with 'civil partnership' and allowing anyone to participate. I do think it is morally wrong, personally, but i don't care what others do in their bedrooms.
@OkieConservative wait a second. Isn't marriage registered at marriage court? People can marry in church, yes. But the official part of marriage takes place in governmental institution, not religious one. So I don't agree with you based on this. A lot of ppl say that marriage is religious, but where do you see this connection? Marriage is two ppl celebrating their love by making their partnership official that is guaranteed by civil rights. Religious part is really about making it festive
@lukosius1221 That's where i disagree. i don't think we should downgrade the religious part of marriage to 'festive'. We should call marriage what it is, a civil partnership. and call marriage what it is, the religious ceremony combining two people as one before the Lord 'till death.
@OkieConservative Marriage is celebrating two people’s partnership that is made official and guaranteed by civil rights.

@lukosius1221 Religion is where the idea of 'marriage' originated. Marriage isn't just celebrating a partnership, it is infact the spiritual combining of two people before the eyes of the Lord. Homosexuals may have any rights they so desire in their partnerships. 'church' is where actual marriage takes place.
@OkieConservative I agree. Church holds marriage. There are gay couple who can get married, they can get married according to state laws and form civil union/civil marriage. But then there are gay couples who are firm Christians, who believe in God and practice it everyday, and they want to be recognized by the church too. Are u saying you won't marry those who love God and want to celebrate it in church ceremony because of their biology? Forget bible. I am asking r opinion
@lukosius122 If a church pastor wants to recognize a 'marriage' between a gay couple, and the church goers are okay with that, that's fine. they can have their ceremony and church goers and pastor can recognize it personally. But it is my opinion that it wouldn't be legitimate in the eyes of the Lord. that's just my opinion.
@OkieConservative Yes it is. Or else, why can't you just get married at your local church and be done with it just like you do with baptizm? You need to tell the authorities to get married, you get tax advantages from marriage, so it IS a state thing and the state is for everyone, not just christians. I mean, marriage or close equivalents are found in EVERY society, regardless of religious borders. It's a basic human nature thing. Religion just incorporates it because it's supposed to
@OkieConservative be part of your life and stuff, but you can't give a special tax status only to married Christian people and still claim to follow the constitution. I mean, there's no law preventing atheists from marriage, is there? Of course, you could see civil marriage and religious marriage as different things, but religion should only decide about the latter.
Marriage has been a civil law for hundreds of years. Are you suggesting atheists or secularists aren't entitled to marriage? Many religious groups disapprove of marriages outside of their particular definition, but they do not prohibit atheists, secularists or those of other religions from getting married under the civil law. Why then are gay people barred from marriage under a supposedly equal law despite being equally hard working families and taxpayers? Churches can marry who they want.
You Know that you're an asshole who can't take criticism when you disable ratings and comments on your videos. It also means you're a hypocrite because you were mad at gays & their supporters for retaliating when they were criticized. I know my comments won't get into the video, but I hope they make you realize that you are a hypocritical, cowardly, asshole.
I actually disabled commenting for approval only because of gay-hate comments, such as death threats and so forth. which blasted this video. I support free speech, just not hate speech and death threats.
@AppleMacgic911 I disabled ratings because the vast majority of the youtube commenting community tend to be pro-gay marriage, and while their opinions definitely matter, i don't think that it is representative of the world view as a whole. and if it is rated very low, it makes it harder for me to voice my opinion in the form of this video because it won't show up on the youtube search or people won't watch it.
@AllOtherNamesTaken2 lol "mad at gays " it seems with all your name calllng its you who is angry,Losing your job because you believe marraige is between a man and a woman is simply wrong! losing your job because you are gay is simply wrong as well.
There is a difference between believing in christian marriage and believing that you can smash somebody else's marriage.
The inflation example was kind of stupid. Putting more real dollars in the currency will inflate the currency just like putting fake dollars in. And if you view your marriage as something that actually has monetary value, then that just makes you a whore. Living your life with someone you love isn't taken away by letting other people do the same thing.
@AllOtherNamesTaken2 Marriage in a religious sense, cannot exist between two members of the same sex, regardless of their status with the government. I think it is fine if they are considered in a civil partnership by the government, but calling it 'marriage' does diminish the religious institution and what it stands for in society in my opinion.
What utter bollocks. It's based on the idea that some relationships are "better than others". His arguments rest on false premises.
As for the public servant - her job IS to serve the public, not use her position to impose her religious beliefs on others. If she does not want to do the job, let her find another job.
I think actress Emma Thompson summed up my feelings fairly accurately when she said "I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It's not enough to say that I don't believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing: I am offended by some of the things said in the Bible and the Qur'an and I refute them."

Religious part is really about making it festive
lukosius1221 4 months ago
@lukosius1221 That's where i disagree. i don't think we should downgrade the religious part of marriage to 'festive'. We should call marriage what it is, a civil partnership. and call marriage what it is, the religious ceremony combining two people as one before the Lord 'till death.
OkieConservative 2 months ago
@OkieConservative Marriage is celebrating two people’s partnership that is made official and guaranteed by civil rights.

I am asking r opinion
lukosius1221 2 months ago
@lukosius122 If a church pastor wants to recognize a 'marriage' between a gay couple, and the church goers are okay with that, that's fine. they can have their ceremony and church goers and pastor can recognize it personally. But it is my opinion that it wouldn't be legitimate in the eyes of the Lord. that's just my opinion.
OkieConservative 2 months ago

KendrixTermina 4 months ago

@AllOtherNamesTaken2
I actually disabled commenting for approval only because of gay-hate comments, such as death threats and so forth. which blasted this video. I support free speech, just not hate speech and death threats.
OkieConservative 1 year ago
@OkieConservative However, that doesn't explain disabling ratings now, does it?
AppleMacgic911 2 months ago

AllOtherNamesTaken2 1 year ago
@AllOtherNamesTaken2 Marriage in a religious sense, cannot exist between two members of the same sex, regardless of their status with the government. I think it is fine if they are considered in a civil partnership by the government, but calling it 'marriage' does diminish the religious institution and what it stands for in society in my opinion.

What utter bollocks. It's based on the idea that some relationships are "better than others". His arguments rest on false premises.
As for the public servant - her job IS to serve the public, not use her position to impose her religious beliefs on others. If she does not want to do the job, let her find another job.
