this great book and film show who the real savages are in both east and west, the elites of both communism and capitalism and the mobs who serve to them, medias, police, burocracy, armies, intelligences, thinkers and all idiots who kill the future specially the blind modern stupid west, which took over the world and artificially as frankeshtain design it by the force and all kind of stupid ways. This movie is great and if you like to see the future...know that that is the cliff of death...
both in the east and west the new generations movements fade up with their worlds are considered evil and savages in the medias and from the elites and the story continues ...for that this move should be consider nr1 compare to similar stories with the reality as dr monroy island,1984,atlas shrugged, citizen cane, adam s aple etc...but this movie shows the future fate of the youths rebelling today...
the so called savage who did not like both civilizations or systems or worlds, eastern and western type did leave ...and this looks like the movements of today in the world..as a new born world from the old two world, the inferior destroyed worlds
"Brave New World is a 1998 television movie loosely based on Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World. The film stars Peter Gallagher and Leonard Nimoy. It is an abridged version of the original story." ~ Wikipedia.
I'm deducing that this movie was not suppose to be exactly like the book.
They did a great job making this movie, in my opinion.
It is obviously completely different from the book, so I don't understand why many of you are disappointed in it. Doing justice tothebookornot, agoodmovie
@JoeyHollywood1 ....i was just wondering who was going through the trash barrel....thankyou for your offer, but i don't want to deprive you of your next meal
great i am ordered by you to read the book! will do:) when you have seen or been near death that is just what you DO think.. lets f;;;k you want to feel alive.
@WhiteWings88 , it was maybe more optimistic but then that itself changes the original intent doesn't it?? The savage with a cowboy hat on?? No way...This movie like all movies made from books has to make money, has to entertain, the book enlightens you slowly with the plot , the movie is just something to watch for "entertainment" sort of like the "feelies" mentioned in the book...
@rickwyant I agree that movies are to be entertaining, but the message here is hopeful while the message in the book is defeatist. While hope does make us feel good, it's also what spurs on courage. Defeatism and escapism that the book talks endlessly about doesn't. So, in short, I don't think this is "feely" (feelie? feeli?), and more like long-missed heroic stories of overcoming oneself. ^^
ya, but that makes sense in their world of no love, no care, no parents. and remember how they react to death. remember what they told the children? Its brainwashing big time.
No, that was not how he died in the Huxley's novel... but what I think they were trying to show was that society was what ultimately destroyed John. After his death, Lenina and Marx have sex and take somas to relieve the "pain" and "misery" of John's death. So, it may not correspond to the story but the general idea is there.
You are exactly right! When I watched that movie this book was the first thing I thought of. Aldous Huxley was simply making a blueprint for a New World Order when he wrote this book. The Venus Project is a New World Order.
You may not have noticed, but religion is almost never mentioned. It may not be present in the story, there are mentions of The Soul, but of a presence beyond the material world..., nothing. And oh, how I love a good ghost story. BOO!
what the hell!!!!??? that's not how he died! gosh, i know the rest of the movie didn't represent the book but i thought they would at least keep that...
What else I'd like to discover is another of Huxley's novel's in a good movie format. It wouldn't really hurt anyone to have a gander at Island for film, but I think it wouldn't translate very well, and would only hinder the idea... Is it possible to be both a nudist and a hedonist at the same time, though seperately? I think that it is and it's also possible to have all of the appropriate philosophies for the development of a "good life". That's how I was raised and...
I wonder why ppl want to live in crappy places like new york. Stinking, loud places without live :) Those folks must be on something to not realize in which world they spend their lives.
It's a made for TV adaptation from 1998. It did air on the Sci-Fi Channel a couple times. There is another version that was made in 1980 that people say is more on par with the book than this version.
Please for the love of God just stop talking because I can't stand letting people lose this many braincells from the stupid crap flowing out of your mouth. I don't think that whether or not the movie industry makes a profit is what is in question here. Of course movies make a profit but when they're named after a great piece of literature they damn well better be about the original story, and this is nowhere near it. So please fall in a ditch and die because your ignorance alone is baffling.
Would Chaos be the lack of "control", over peoples lives? I fyou live in such a well lineated format , you'd probably have a shit hemmorage if it were not your ability to format someone else.
It may have actually been made then, it does match pretty closely the era I was considering. What I do remember about it was that they wore these awful white uniforms, and whether indicative of the age it was made or not they seemed rather unflattering and distractive. It was also about this time that I began to read Huxley, and I feel the movie version from that time influenced my vision somehow. It is kind of great that Leonard Nimoy shows in this version. ...

my observations come from common sense philosophy.
the human condition evolved as a reaciton to overcoming natures adversity.. as did every other piece of complexity in the natural world.
remove adversity and you remove everything human... thats the central point behind the book
