this looks great im thinking of buying a camera all i can afford at the moment is second hand fx 1,after seeing this footage im rreally looking forward too using it , but im really scared it will be too complicated for me to use when i get it. how did you get this footage to look so rich ,is it your lens? is it your editing tools? i need to find out so much information befire i buy this dont i? can any one help me?
I paid $1900 for it when I had it, sold it for $1800 not too long ago. You should look at the Panasonic HVX200 or more up to date cams. Fx1 is totally outdated with using tapes (can't shoot full HD resolution) and no XLR Inputs.
why? because firewire is a constant stream of data, and when you need to capture video in 'real time' the data must be kept constant. using usb (short bursts of data) will not work.
I love it, it peforms extremely well in many different shoots. Weddings, baptisms, horoscope shoots where it is completely still, and skateboarding. It is extremely durable from lugging it around back and forth from NJ and NYC
Amazing footage...beautiful clarity of video...and on Youtube to boot!!! Does the camera have an place for external mic, so you can pick up good sound? We're looking for a better cam right now....appreciate the info.
Thank you! Yes the camera has a mic input jack, I bought the Rode Video Mic and used it for a wedding, let me tell you it was amazing audio. Definitely a good investment.
No problem, actually there are no XLR inputs, the Rode Video Mic works off a 3.5mm jack ( I think thats the size) but it is possible to buy an XLR adapter if you wish!
Thank you...that's interesting...3.5mm, with XLR capability...that just opened up several other paths to take...thank you so much!! I know what I want, just having a hard time zeroing in on the exact camera...love yours!!! Appreciate it!.
thanks buddy

hey how much did you pay for this camera... also would you say it is a good camera for making films??
TomTube92 2 years ago
I got it for $2k and it is great for making films. It does use minidv tapes but I like having that as a back up since hard drives can fail.

I want to see a film that was shot with one of these....do you know of any that you could link me to?

does FX1 use Mini DV tapes or memory stick?
robpoleki55 2 years ago
Mini DV Tapes, I use HDV tapes which supposedly have better quality.
