you need to learn the homer circle knot. its alot stronger than the palamar.id also recomend the nanofil knot which it stronger than the palamar to but not as strong as the homer circle. i know this because of something on a fishing site called knot wars.
@TheLovetocatchbass The fact that they are stronger is irrelevant. The palomar is a 100% knot meaning the line will break before the knot does. The palomar is simple, strong, and far quicker to tie than the homer or the nanofil
ur using suffix mono, but i would recomend seaugar red label flurocarbon. it is cheap, only 11 bucks. it lets you bait get down deeper when your using a diving bait, and it sinks, unlike mono, so you can feel the lure better. 15lb. test will handle any situation, and its vety thin, so you can cast lighter baits with it very well. i've used suffix seige mono, and its great. but for under water baits i think you'll REALLY like flurocarbon. but use mono for topwaters, it gives them better action!
I noticed that you guys have been having similair weather lately. I'm going monday, i'm thinking about throwing a creature bait i picked up, a yum wooly bug I believe its called. Also thought about throwing a yum craw papi in a junebug color. What do you think. I have bunch of yum 7.5 in ribbontails but I just don't think they're gonna be wanting to nail that. Been working on getting some jigs and trailers.
i was watchin some fishing shows and i saw a really good lure, its called a gary yamamoteo swimming senko, and you just hook em up, cast em out, and reel em in. do you think you could put one of those as a trailer on a swim. jig, it sounds like a good idea to me

hey plz reply i haven ben fishing for ten years now and ive ben watching youtube vids and i bought a camera and just started putting vids up eny way i saw on one of your videos you had a hudd and ive ben fishing a 6" rambow trout hudd and ive cought 3 bass on it and ive had it for a year now do you know a beater way to fish it?

what other jigs to you recommend, I'm mainly shopping around for new ones since theres alot of christmas specials around, not just swim jigs, but flipping jigs as well?
@humloya It would but what if I needed to crank fast. It's just not me to buy a reel just for slow movement I can easily do that with a slower hand movement
@j0j0barz33 Yeah I agree but on my experience, I have several crankbaits that i have a problem with the retrive speed because those are made for very slow movement, even that I have a Daiwa Procaster PT100 rel.6.3:1.
I guess the speed depends on the way that you handle the reel.
@badcatmcconell1324 What makes me a pro is that I'm better than you and KVD and I'm sponsored by shimano, berkley, damiki, tackle warehouse, lucky craft, and 100 others. Now that I've answered you question and ignored the other half of your comment do you have anymore? Or am I just wasting your time? Wouldn't want to do that to you or any thing
Jigs are great baits to have with you at all times. Sometimes they are the "go to" bait, just like many other wonderful lure choices available nowadays.
swimjigs weedguard almost always isnt heavy duty its usually gives pretty easily. if it was heavy duty you would miss a ton of fish because they would hit it and the brush guard wouldnt give enough for them to get hooked. also swimjigs are commonly 1/4 to 1 ounce so they can be the same weight as other jigs. and also you said swimbaits on jigs isnt considered swimjigging. most pros tip their swimjigs with swimbaits lol. not being critical lol great vid jon.
@CRFmxracer I completely disagree with weed guards. I don't think you realize how hard a bass can hit, ever hear a bass hit topwater? Thats the force and power along with hookset that can chomp a lure, a heavy weed gaurd isn't going to stop a fish from getting hooked. And honestly just because a pro does it, means nothing. A pro could fish with a fork does it mean a forks gunna work better? Not really. And I never said it isn't swimjiggin I said it defeats the purpose and its more of a swimbait
good vids but i persoelly would not suggest a boo jig for pure swim jiggin. its definately more of a flippin jig. and try more of a stroke or swim stop, and if u use a craw trailer use it towards the bottom and if its a grub or a twintail grub or swimbait towards the top. lol srry not trying to get on u. like i said great vid!!
@Fshrmn13 swimbaits keep the bait from falling and that tail is gunna get caught in the weeds..good technique but its more a swimBAIT rather than a swimJIG. I don't like booyah It was the only swimjig I had, and usually a flipping jig will have a heaver skirt, and have heavier weight. Same type of jig head of course you could use any jig for any technque its just the types of jigs that add to a technique not make up one
for all of the anglers in the south west, bass aren't really biting on plastics or jig try live bait like night crawlers or blood worms. they bite on jigs, spinners, and cranks in late fall early winter just before what i call, hibernation but they just lay low and don't bite a whole lot .
good video, i like how you can go back and help new anglers like myself to learn swim jig, also the Palomar is a great knot for deep brush and timber, my buddy's dad is great friends with Huddleson and even he said its a great knot. thank for the video Jon. my Buddy's fathers name is Tod Holder he is a pro class bass angler and has won many So-Cal lake fishing torments
