  • wow.... its just amazing!!!!

  • I don't mean this in a stupid sexist way but... I have the feeling that EVERY man is singing and 80% of the women had no idea that their partners could sing all the lyrics to this song, in tune and in time. I say 80% because I know there's a lot of woman out there who are huge Floyd fans - so I'll give them 20% :)

  • @McPrfctday I don't think very many women are that into Marillion, either. Prog is just a very...Male-oriented genre.

  • @Kusiina Curiously, a girl got me into Marillion =)

  • So, So you think you can tell...

  • ...zusammen Singen ist geil....!!!!

  • I never though of PF as a prog-rock band, I think they are very different to Marillion, Genesis, Yes, for example. Of course, only a complete fool would claim that they are not a great band, but I prefer a lot of other bands to them; like The Who, for instance.

  • i heard the crowds in china sing helo fol ghosts to this song ...

    the american commenator

  • That was somthin'

  • kids, go brush your teeth, come back and play animals, after that play final cut, then you can play the rest of pink floyd master pieces, dsoftm, the wall .

there are 100000 great bands, PINK FLOYD FATHERED ALL OF THEM.

  • wow ! that audience participation..!! never have i seen such wtf..!! makes me happy smilley face..!

  • @jonicharlie Cause you haven't seen this: /watch?v=gh4TF_HbsXw

    Watch it from 5:20.

When you're done with that, watch some parts from these series of videos:

    /watch?v=wVasr7ujdTw

  • @jonicharlie i think the same, Id never seen something like this!!!

  • @jonicharlie yeah ... get shiver domn my spine!! if someone needs to understand what Pink Floyd means, I suggest to watch this video. if the audience of a great band such as Marillion can sing an _entire_ song (in tune & perfect timing) of Pink Floyd ... whoa!! that means something ...

  • Comment removed

  • @jonicharlie dude, if you wanna see real participation, type "queen freddie mercury tribute concert bohemian rhapsody".. :)

  • @seedar

  • Dzięki za szacunek dla Pink Floyd, są niepowtarzalni.

  • @deepasia11 Man, sounds like you're elevating Pink Floyd to some kind of untouchable, godlike status. But they're people, they're human. You can in fact compare them to others, even if they're above the average band. You can't just say they're the best band ever and ignore everything else just because you know and love them already, that's just ignorant and I'm sure they wouldn't wanna hear it.

  • Whatever happened to Marillion? in the old days Steve Rothery could crank out a solo that would make Gilmour jealous. Marillion without Fish has become boring background music to play while studying for a math exam. I should know I've bought enough of their albums looking for a bit of their 80's magic only to be disgusted once again.

  • Two of the best bands ever combined.... now only fish is missing :P

    Thumbs up!

  • Perfeito vale tudo ate nao saber a letra da musica e a plateia cantar ...uauuuuuuuuuuuu!!!

  • jess

  • @rikk303 youre right the audience are singing, cu'z there's got some difficulties about 2 vocalist.. but still good because of no similar video clip.

  • невероятно ......просто нямам думи :):):)

  • Steve and Gilmour for President

  • wish i was there.. !

  • what are they all doing wandering about the stage...!?

  • @SovereignBeing anything they want to...

  • of the best songs I've heard

  • Fantastic cover from a simply fantastic band.....!! I saw Floyd in 1981 doing The Wall at Earls Court - been a huge fan before and since then - love them and seen them 4 times, but Marillion are grabbing all my musical attention right now. Having loved Fish etc in the 80's, i never knew Marillion existed as such until about 2 years ago. I'm catching up quick.........they are fantastic!!!! They clearly get influences from Floyd and express their respect with this superb cover!!!

  • The most strinking thing about all that : Steve Hogarth doesn't have to sing one note from this song....That says it all..So Thank you Marillion, thank you Pink Floyd..and thank you whoever you are in the audience !

  • Best cover of this beautiful song that ive ever heard.

    Nice one Marillion!

  • fucking awesome

  • *lmao*. They didn't need H for this one... Is it me or does Rothery play this one better than Gilmour? Rothery is God!!

They should record a full-band version of this song someday. I would love to have it in my collection!!

  • This made me smile for some reason ?

Maybe...... it's the moment they created.... or the pure genius in the bands soul :0)

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman With respect to you Pink Floyd is a small part of Steven Wilsons likes ( Song writer, guitarist with PT )

He liked bands like Tangerine dream and Faust along with King crimson, the Beach boys and the Carpenters.

To say Porcupine Tree wouldnt be around if it wasnt for Floyd is silly.

I dont want people to think i dont like Pink Floyd because i do! I just prefer other bands :) Remember, there were bands before Floyd as well.

    Anyway, happy listening

  • I do like Porcupine Tree, but it's not from a perspective of a personal taste...

Pink Floyd has found they place in a history. Porcupine Tree has'n and judging by how it goes for them never will. They will always stick to the second league of prog bands. Why? Because of the general appeal of their music to the masses, because of the wrong time of their activity. So, it's not that their music is bad it's rather because it's not good enough to generate Pink Floyd-like resonance.

  • @olegshadsky I agree when Floyd and Genesis were around in the early 70s there wasnt many bands about and prog had its time then, but its not about Porcupine Tree being 2nd league for me due to prog not being known by the masses. Their music is quite stunning and it doesnt matter if they are not known by the masses. Im saying the people who like prog shouldnt discount them because they feel some sort of football team loyalty to Floyd. It seems people wont accept other prog bands can be better.

  • @eaglepower1973 Ok, let's approach from another side. Take for example acclaimed Fear Of A Blank Planet. Could any of its songs be compared melodically and harmonically (not lyrically) to any song from Dark Side of The Moon, for example? Let me know which one

  • @olegshadsky Yes, Anesthetize, My ashes, Sentimental and Sleep together.

  • @eaglepower1973 Interesting. So, these are on a par with Breathe, Time, Us and Them, Money? Maybe you also consider Fear of A Blank Planet as a whole to be as good or better than Dark Side of The Moon?

  • @olegshadsky To be honest i find Dark side to be a bland album. Money in my opinion is poor, but i like Time and Us and Them. I know you will say Dark side is a huge seller worldwide, but doesnt really do it for me. It gets on my nerves as well when people start adding things like Oh, i was so high listening to Dark side. Why need to smoke? Isnt the music enough? Wish you were here is their best album. I like the mix. Fear of a blank planet isnt my fave PT album.

  • @eaglepower1973 Trusty ProgArchives 100 prog albums as of 28.08.2010

    Wish you were here 4

    DarkSOTM 7

    Animals 8

    Meddle 38

    In Absentia 71

    Fear of ABP 81

Such is an unbiased opinion of not your avarage listeners but sophisticated progheads. And you can't say that they are not familiar with PT, cause their albums have hundreds of reviews and it appears that most of the experienced people don't think that PT could be in the same league with PF

  • @olegshadsky But im talking about my opinion.

Everyone does say Pink Floyd are great as they dont want to be shot down and its a cool thing to say. Ive met people who talk about their fave bands and put Floyd on their list and they can hardly name any songs haha.

I however make my opinion from the music and though i repeat Floyd are very very good... i prefer PT, Genesis and Marillion.

  • @eaglepower1973 People from prog archives are not everyone. They know what they are writing about. I understand your opinion. But remember that I started by saying "...it's not from a perspective of a personal taste..."

  • @olegshadsky I know what im writing about.

  • Comment removed

  • @eaglepower1973 Cool. It's been nice talking to you. At least we are passionate about the music))

  • @olegshadsky We are :) Cheers

  • Seriuosly, comparing Porcupine Tree to Pink Floyd is a little too much

  • @olegshadsky

    I agree with you!

  • @olegshadsky So any prog band in the future that come along you would always say Pink Floyd are better without even knowing their music?

    That cant be right :)

I cant understand that, but hey its a free world.

As i say, let me have my opinion and that is Porcupine Tree are the stand out prog band. Genesis used to be, then Marillion and i thought id never find another band that gave me feelings like This strange engine, Out of this world or the album Brave, then found Porcupine Tree :)

  • Un grand classique interprété par mon groupe favoris ... coooollllll ...

  • to nionionionionionionionion

  • Marillion without Fish- cower's team only. :/

  • I know, I will be there in marz 2011 Port Zelande Holland, next time.

Than I will remember this song: Wish u where here!

  • There can be all the new bands and all the new songs in the world, yet Pink Floyd keeps getting covered timelessly. And the audience knows every word, despite the fact that it is not even a Floyd concert. That pretty much says it all. But then again, progressive rock fans have a rather refined taste in music, so it is not surprising. A few decades from now, will anyone bother to cover today's one-hit synth pop AutoTune wonders?

  • Es de pink Floyd pero el publico canta espectacular.

  • Well & Fish went to drink something hard. :D

  • I think the audience knew the lyrics better than Fish did

  • very nice cover. I loved it. floyd AND marillion are the best love them both so stop this stupid conversation of who is better they just both kick ass.

  • awesome, were is fish now ?from scotland living in canada

  • Fish is alive and well and still making music and films. Check him out on his website when you have a minute and say hi. @Niagaragal47

  • eaglepower1973 you are so wrong. Pink Floyd is one of the best groups ever created. Both Genesis, Porcupine Tree and Marillion are so good bands too, but be carefull! Have you ever played music? Any musical instrument? Go fuck outthere. Motherfaker!

  • @SabaBonzo I play piano and write music. What is the point you are trying to make?

As for fucking my mother, i would have to decline.

I agree with you also that Pink Floyd is one of the best bands ever, but please allow me to believe Porcupine Tree, Marillion and Genesis are better.

I dont understand why you insult me and ask that you dont reply unless you have something good to say.

  • i love genesis mariilion, but better than floyd, thats down to a personal choice, they all have good and bad parts,

  • Again, it all boils down to that one thing........Personal Opinion :-)

All bands are great in their own way, which is why they become successful.

  • People, let's be realistic. Pink Floyd, amongst others, set the tone for progressive rock back in their days. But nowadays, there are other bands who continue to evolve progressive rock, in whatever direction they choose. It's impossible to compare Pink Floyd back then to Marillion nowadays, because both made music in different times. It's like comparing a tangerine to an orange. ;-)

  • i´m a marillion fan but also i like many other progresives, i enjoy all of them

  • I wish i was there...

  • Better than Pink Floyd??? Please share whatever it is you are taking with the rest of us. Better than Pink Floyd, I think you are looking for the comedy section...but that's just my opinion, I could be wrong---NOT!!!!!

  • @salafiaant Right on bro!

  • fabulous, isnt it?

  • I tire of the who-is-better argument too. I was bummed when Fish left, but made the choice then & there to support both him and Marillion. Apart from Fish recognizing that he would self-destruct if he stayed, you can hear the creative schism on the bonus disc of the 24-bit remastered "Clutching at Straws". Imagine the backing tracks of "Season's End" with the lyrics of "Vigil In A Wilderness of Mirrors"... their time was due.

  • This is probly the best cover i've ever heard of Floyd.. the drummer kinda fucks up a couple times, and it woulda been cool if the singer actually came back for the chorus. It would have raised the energy of the song.. great cover tho

  • @MawkBalls - Have you heard Les Claypool's live cover of Animals? The Whole album, mind you. That was their encore.

  • fish left 20 years ago for christ sake!FOR THE LAST TIME GET USED TO IT!any real marillion fan knows hogarth makes fish sound like a pub singer im a hardcore fan and imo H Is a genius.this cover wasnt even rehearsed just off the cuff and its almost perfect.and on a lighter note roger waters is a twat.ta ta im off to play marbles

  • Great band, great music, great cover :)

  • great to see a great british song from a great british group sang by another great british group i was there along with black bob plug marsden russ and phillips happy fucking days keep smiling all you fans of great british bands woo hoo !!!!

  • impecable

  • Well done Marillion - can't believe u get stick for doing a fantastic Floyd cover - i think most Marillion fans are Floyd fans - like myself - saw Floyd in 1981, 88 & 94 - saw Dave Gilmour when he toured couple of years back. Sounds like this particular concert was something else - jeez i'd freak if you played this as a side show - fantastic!!

  • I think this is great, the song is perfect with parallels between Fish and Syd. Hogarth is letting the rest of the band remember their time with Fish, he doesn't interfere but is respectful. If only some of Fish's fans who don't like Hogarth could show the same grace.

  • "Fish you where here"......

  • Comment removed

  • @progfloyd lol.....u ever thought about listening to Marillion since Fish left - i made the move about 6 months ago and am now making up for lost time.....they are fantastic

  • Comment removed

  • It's beautiful... IMHO

  • I dont know if you can do a cover of that song? with what its about and what it means to Pink Floyd, it's one big 'bye Sid, wish you were here' Interesting that the Marillion fans know all the words to other bands songs too, not just word perfect on Marillion tracks.
