Dang, never realized Paul Revere did any car songs! The 396 Chevelle never received the press it deserved, but it was definitely a screamer. I sure miss the old musclecar days....they were shortlived for me, as I was summoned to SE Asia before I had much time to enjoy my 383 Mopar!
My dad sold Chevy's in this era, this song was a promotional record given away by Chevy dealers. My dad brought home a whole box of them I gave them away to all my friends at school.
when i got back from 'nam' in 66, went to chevy dealer and bought a 1967 gold ss-396, black vinyl roof, 396 cu in 375 hp, solid lifters, close ratio 4-sp, borg-warnr T-10. had what they call "road wheels" junked them and put 15x8 cragar super-sports with firesone wide oval red loine tires. the kicker is total, out the door price, new, was $3488.00. my car payments were $47.00 a month. gort married, wife got prego, sold the car, blah blah blah. very fast car....
@GeorgeVreelandHill I see your comments on about half the videos I view, lol. We must have the same interests, or close to same age. I think i,ve seen your comments on a few Buddy Holly videos, too. What a cool song huh? Back when music was so cool. I'm working on a 70 SS396 now, it's cool to turn this up in the garage. Cant wait to cruise! Peace...
My Dad got me this record from the dealership he worked at. It was a promotional recording for Chevrolet as far as I know. I haven't heard this in more than forty years. Thanks who ever found it. JB
Yup. The hubcaps were an option and finding an original set of those caps today in nice condition are typically over a grand plus. If they are NOS, price as much as 3-4 grand are not unheard of.
Those mag hubcaps were optional from the factory on the big Chevys, Chevelles, Novas and even Corvairs! Chevy made them in 3 sizes, 13, 14 and 15." They were used from around 1966 through 1969. I think the 14 and 15 inch ones aren't overpriced, but the 13" ones for the Corvair are RARE and very expensive...

Sounds like a cross between the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean. The Raiders did a great job on this song. They do surf music well.
