Every time I hear this rag, it reminds me of a whole family sitting in their parlor while a family member is on the old upright in the corner playing. I love it, Larisa. Keep on composing!
if you search montysuffern's "with white light and fluffy whipped cream floating and swirling on top rag" and time it to play with larisa's "hot chocolate rag", it's just amazing... since monty did in fact made his rag in accompainiment... xD
This is a wonderful song. I'm also I'm also very impressed with your talent at the keyboard, Larissa. And another thing I'm impressed with is the Bosendorfer grand piano. Is it yours? Bosendorfer is the perhaps the finest piano maker in the world.
Anyway, about Hot Chocolate Rag, I really enjoy it. Although I prefer faster ragtime, I really like this slower rag. But it seems like you pick up the tempo slightly towards the end.
wow - I think after my last post I have realised that this is your own composition?!?!? It is absolutely stunning - it´s genuinely one of the best pieces of ragtime I´ve heard! Is there any way at all I could get the sheet music to learn it? I love it so much! I listen to it dozens of times in a row while I work online - beautiful stuff
Larisa, this is one of the best rags I have heard - I really love ragtime music and I play lots of it too, but on trying to find the sheet music for this rag, Hot Chocolate Rag, it is completely impossible online! Almost no search engine even recognises it as a piece of music, it only directs me to Coffee websites! Please help me - where can I get the sheet music from?! Thanks

@thatsrich32 - I'm working on the sheetmusic for this one, but the typesetting is still not finished. If you email me and remind me, I'll send you the PDF when it's done. Thanks so much!
This is one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever heard, even rivaling Tom Brier's Perryville; and when it's combined with Monty Suffern's exquisite companion piece, It'll wring tears from your eyes.
Great! Therre was a timewhen I also played some of these terrific Joplin Ragtimes. Wonderful how You keep this style of music alive with Your own compositions.
Last time I followed tdub's 5 Star rating to this enchanting rag, I think it was as yet unnamed... Nice name!! Chocolate is the food that complements this composition! :-)
Very nice composition!! It's the easy going, Classic Ragtime style that I adore!! :-) The most popular food related rag that I know of is Pickles & Peppers by Adeline Shepherd, which is livelier and "spicier" than your delightful offering... Your rag reminds me more of chocolate truffles than Dill Pickles (Charles Johnson?) or Red Peppers (Henry Lodge)... Your Ragtime is WONDERFUL!! :-)

I wonderfully ethereal composition, evocative of the golden age of ragtime; Mr Joplin is looking down and smiling!

Nice job! (P.S. There is another rag from 1909 by that same name - completely different though. :) )
Good job! Nice playing and composing. Peace! :D

Sedalia, Missouri is where Scott Joplin composed many of his famous ragtime works. We have a festival here each year in honor of him.
Have you ever played at it?
unknownkingdom 2 years ago
Why, yes. :) I just came back from it, in fact - it was my fourth time there. I love that festival!
