  • Was wondering what you think of DCC. I am just getting back into the hobby after about 30 years, and it seems to me that having some locos DCC-ready or DCC-equipped and some not divides the market and reduces the selection available.

I know DCC has some great features, but some locos have it, and some don't so whichever system I use will limit my options.

  • @MMODoubter As long as the locos are DCC ready it is pretty easy to change them over. Once you use DCC you will not go back.

    Thanks , Mike

  • Interesting series of videos. Very good commentary.

  • @MMODoubter Thanks , Mike

  • I really do like that yard. Very creative!

  • @D4449 Thanks , but it has been modified since this video. See video 18 and 19.

    Thanks , Mike

  • Hi i am running with the same kato version of track, and I was wondering if you use the bullet train cause i have one and I find it works well with models

  • Nope , I model the 50's and 60's.

Thanks for the info though !

  • Congratulations man, nice job and layout. It´s helping me to choose between N escale and HO escale. I am in doubt.

  • Rick , GO N SCALE and do not look back !!!!!

    Mike

  • @mrfifer i realy think its up to him,and this is my opion,but i love ho scale,and i am getting n scale,i have 2 027 scale trains,numerous ho and n scale stuff,nice video

  • I too have many scales but have had all of them and just prefer N because one can do so much more in a smaller scale in the same HO area.

Have Fun , no matter which one!

    Thanks , Mike

  • Hi Mr. Fifer, if you don't mind can you please show a diagram of your layout as i would like to get some idea? Thanks.

  • My easytrack switches are soo annoying.

    -_-

Every time my train comes over it, the rear truck keeps going straight! Any Suggestions?

  • It may not be a track problem but rather out of guage wheels on the rear truck. It could be many things. Do you have trouble with other locomotives?

  • Other engine is working fine now. I just jiggled the truck a bit. I have a 0-8-0 that dies out every few seconds and the tender keeps going straight. I love it, but re-railing it every time is soo annoying. Sorry for complaining, this is just seems so professional. So that's why im asking you for help.

  • Steam engines are very trublesome as a rule anyway but I would check guage of wheels and clean the track and locomotive wheels.

    Thanks , Mike

  • nice layout easytrack is the best

  • This is not easy track but rather Kato UniTrack.

    Thanks , Mike

  • Mike; Are the turnouts in the yard #4s or #6s.

    Thanks,

    Tom.

  • Thanks Tom , They are all #6's.

    Mike

  • the yard is very cool and are you going to add a loco shop too with the car repair shop?

  • Yes , the turn table and roundhouse will go to the left of the doorway on the small shelf.

    Thanks , Mike

  • Mike, in regards to the track... hows the cost difference of flex & roadbed vs uni-track. How much more are you paying for the stability and stress free construction vs the headache but flexibility of flex track?

  • Take into account the turnouts also have motors included I would sat not much diff. if you add roadbed , turnout motors , ballast , glue , and time.

It is also nice to be able to lay out the whole thing , then put it down permanent.

    Mike

  • I gotta tell ya , I Love It !!!

    Mike

  • That is really starting to take shape! What do you think of the uni track compared to flex track?

  • Not as many possabilities but the track and quality and ease greatly out weigh the flex for my new layout.
