Great topic Evil. I know it's bad to stretch a cold muscle, but I thought that's why you did a cardio warm up b4 you started your weights routine..... so as to get the blood flow running through your body?
@AIversonI In general, yes. However, I'd say it is preferrable to specifically warm up the muscles you are going to use with the movements going to be done.
Thanks Evil! I was wondering about this recently, so I'm fortunate that you posted this. Anyways, if you have time for a question, what would be the best way of increasing your overall flexibility? I've made some great strength gains, but I've noticed that I'm quite unflexible, I can't even touch my toes w/o bending my knees. Any suggestions? And increasing overall flexibility wont hurt my strength will it?
Wieder mal wunderbar!
@runescapeclassicable Basically yes, although dynamic and static can be taken further apart into ballistic stretching (where you use momentum to go beyond your normal ROM), static-passive (where you support the stretched limb with a hand) or static-active (where the limb is held in position without help of the ground, a wall or hand).
Very good info again!
My favourite warm up(strength training) is cardiovascular warm up
after foam rolling followed by joint warm up and dynamic warm up.
Sounds a lot but it takes 5-7minutes and I feel years younger!! :-)

@Leudast1 I'd say go for stretches post-workout, but make sure you stop before it hurts. Over time your flexibility should increase.
