  • Gosh... I just dueted Man in the Box with Jerry Cantrell.

  • Syncing this song with this /watch?v=FRHOGwp9Csw&list=FL4osrzrHpDyx8N7imady-bg&feature=mh_lolz is even more epic. Or you just just play the whole song lol.

  • Tambourine!

  • I WISH TO GOD you could hear his chorus guitar leads better.

  • GOD THIS IS FUKING AWESOME. 3AM AND I HAVE THIS SHIT BLASTING.I FUKING LOVE AIC. RIP MIKE LAYNE.You will live in our hearts forever!!

  • jerry duznt get enuf credit

  • i love this one i always pretend i am Layne singing ♥

  • He isn't singing flat. He is harmonizing with Layne Staley. Put the two vocals together and its greater than the sum of its parts. RIP Layne.

  • Excellent

  • Jerry blows me away every time.

  • @anapanasati1970 thats what she said.

  • Man.. jerry is a great singer... he wrote the melody when he wrote the song.. you gotta be musician to write a song... not a singer!!

  • Is Jerry Cantrell in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame?

  • @questscience1 dunno but he should be.

  • This mutha is so damn talented....sh**

  • "He who tries" is absolutely Layne, not Jerry. Doubler used with Layne's voice on final cut heard on album.

  • "He who tries" Is Jerry. I still can't believe people don't know this. If you listen to actual song, you can hear them both singing it and Layne's part (which is clearly Layne) is different from what we're hearing. It's not Layne's voice dubbed twice.

Second of all, it does sound like Layne (And a LOT more like Jerry), but that's because Jerry's backing vocals are a lot of what gave Layne his sound. That's why you can listen to some post Layne songs (Like Private Hell) and swear you hear Layne.

  • @XLVIetII Jerrys voice isnt raspy. its layne. I know jerry personally and hes sitting right next to me telling me you are an idiot

  • jerry wishes he would sing the he who tries part on here with such vibrato. thats layne for sure

  • WOW there is a solo in the last chorus aswell!

  • Always great to hear the barebones of this song. Amazing part by Jerry

  • great, now i need to buy a talk box! lol

  • i love his voice with the wah

  • never did notice that in first chorus there was such a great solo behind :)

  • badass guitar solo

  • I KNEW IT!! During the last chorus there's that awesome guitar wailing in the background...I'd always thought I was hearing things!

  • @grUngEroX1993 why ?

  • I can't stop listening to "heeeeeeee whooooo trieeeees" part

  • @naxito1409

    Me too buddy :D

  • Layne at 3:03, beautiful...

  • That's really hot. Oh my god, Jerry.

  • sick guitar sound. cantrell is the man and him and layne staley together was / is magic.

  • Is it bad that I only listen to the Jerry Cantrell only version just to hear Layne's part i n it better?

  • This song is so awesome that even only half of the song kicks major ass! :D

  • that's some badass motherfuckin talk box action.

  • Wow! This is cool!! If you're a Guitar Player and know what to listen for, you can tell this is the actual recording on the album. Probably could have used a "Hush" or some sort of noise gate to get rid of the buzz; but they most-likely were able to edit that in the studio, or cover it up. GREAT!!!

  • It sounds raw, but kicks ass :D

  • The Chorus riff is Dr. Love by KISS

  • @ThinkReal

it's also the chorus of alive by pearl jam. E, G, D, and A. a very common riff i think.

  • @sacrifyce4 possible same chord progression, however a totally different feel / tone to the way it's played. not to mention the differences vocally (not saying one is better than the other: that's called an opinion).

  • @jas0nv00r33s haha dood jerry could never sing like that in his life (no disrespect intended i still love jerry) but trust me. that's layne.

  • @wild1033

actually, jerry sang that harmony when i saw Alice this year. he really can sing like that. but that is layne on the recording.

  • @sacrifyce4 Idk, I have to disagree. He sings the part yes, but he always sings it "flat-ish" which I don't get because it's right, but then again it's not. Maybe it's the way he phrases the words. But it just doesn't match.

  • @1201zj

true... I did think he sang it well when I saw them live.

  • @sacrifyce4 Right on man. I'm a huge Jerry fan but idk that is the only minor flaw I've ever seen in his performance (numerous times)...Still a legend though!

  • laynes ghost!!!!....

  • Wow..

  • from 330 to 340 is my fave from jerrys solos its like omg hes just too good

  • jerry's riffs are ridiculously good. who says you have to play hard and complicated to be a fantastic guitarist? jerry cantrell thats who. lol

  • fucking awesome

  • talent

  • its 5 tracks in one

  • when jerrys not singinging its layne backing his lead vocal track up

  • Thanks for posting this, I never knew about those overdubbed guitar parts during the chorus E-G-A/D-EG with the cool little leads in the background. Love Jerry stuff.

  • Sweet man

  • the best part is how raw the guitar tone is, it just sounds like he mic'd his amp up and recorded it.

    The way albums should be..

  • didnt know all of those guitar parts were in the song

  • Both Jerry and Layne sing the "He who tries" part on the album. Most live shows Jerry doesn't do it though. They even say it in an interview about the damn song.

  • some of the vocals on this are clearly layne.

  • yea only 1 word...... SHUT!!!

  • @cdiaz1998 no the background on the chorus is layne... he uses the same vocal melody on live shows.... the "heeeeeeeeee whooo triiiiiieeeees" is layne....

  • @laynestaley1990 thanks captain obvious!

  • @laynestaley1990 Correcto mundo.

  • @laynestaley1990 hell naw jerry could hit the highs just as well as layne, he does most the highs on BGWTB

  • @Johhnycashmonkey dude... its layne... i dont think youve paid attention to thier live shows at all... and your wrong.,.. on BGWTB its will doing ALL the highs...

  • theres so much more goin on in this song than i realised! really, thanks for uploadin this!

  • Rips from the RB2 disc, opened in Audacity.

  • @killswitchmanforlife OMFG Thanks for the info! I was wondering how to obtain this information, and the only other person putting these up wasn't sharing!

  • @killswitchmanforlife Damn... you need a Blu-Ray drive to rip the files, right? I can't seem to access the CD on my laptop, which only has a standard DVD drive....

... can you obtain the drums/bass tracks for this song?

  • No, I don't actually do the rips, and they're done on the 360 as far as I know. I download them from the internet.

  • where do u get them?

  • it must be an amazing song if all individual tracks even sound good by themselves. masterpiece

  • Cantrell is the man ! he rocks \m/

  • the jerry cantrell show would get higher ratings than jerry springer lol

  • holy focker is that dude a power player. jerry is living proof that you dont have to be fast to be horrifyingly great.

  • It´s not only Jerry, Layne sings on 1:35 and it's pretty cool! Love Layne's voice!

  • Thats bad ass..

  • WOW!! Can you do this w/ANY of his stuff?!?

  • Nope. Sorry, I can only do this kind of stuff to songs that are in Rock Band or Guitar Hero: World Tour. =)

  • dude can you do this for afterlife and synyster gates? i wanna hear his backup vocals

  • Well, I could do only guitar and all backup vocals.

  • well that would be good enough. if you have the time id appreciate it but if not its no big deal

  • It's up now, but it might not be for long. WMG already attempted to take it down. =(

    watch?v=JyOp7QVrzJo

  • this is fucking great dude!!!! 5 freaking stars for you!!!!

  • Thanks!!!

  • where'd u get this? its cool

  • I got the multitrack files from Rock Band 2, then I played just the lead guitar, and the backing track. That leaves you with Jerry Cantrell's contributions to the song! :)
