  • Even if I love G&G and their long program was much more artistically intense, M&D should have won (much less mistakes)

  • @ricocityboy Thank you. This was a flawless program full of passion and artistry. I couldn't understand how it could have lost when they were in first after the short and G&G had mistakes in both programs. While G&G were masterfully beautiful they made serious mistakes and didn't have side by side triple jumps. I didn't feel the 2nd double axels made up for it either. Such is life I guess.

  • Thank you a million times! I taped this on video in 1994, someone taped over it and was devastated.....It is my favourite performance of all time to my favourite piece...breathtaking......thank you so much!!!! (and yes they were the Gold winners in my eyes too)

  • Watched this and G&G again. NO comparison. Not only were M&D more passionate artistically, but they were flawless technically, AND they had much harder elements. What the hell were the judges thinking???? Talk about a predetermined win.

  • tights should be legal again...

  • The gold for sure, and everyone in the rink (except of course the judges) knew it. Watching this right after Brasser and Eisler's free, it's amazing how much FASTER this team is.

  • @wwDevichan I'm not going to sully benben35's channel with any more remarks from you or to you. You haven't any manners or any knowledge of Figure Skating. Go watch 1988 Calgary Olympics and praise G&G to the skies. Or Oksana Bauil's 1994 Olympics with all her two footed landings. benben35 has worked too hard to put all these wonderful posts up.

  • @libralady1010 yes! lol i love when people mention Oksana's 2 footed landings

  • @wwDevichanYou've already done a perfect job,a tremendous job I must say, of calling yourself names! No one else could've done it better than you have. [ Hilarious laughing ] You don't have much time, ' " Second, I only check my grammar when I have time" ' so you must leave now,to take care of all those other important things that need your time and attention. What all of this juvenile delinquent behavior on your part has to do w/M&D, G&G, B&E and Skating only you know.[Pitiful laughing]

  • @wwDevichan ' " If you like what people is going to tell you back," ' LOL! If you want to be taken seriously with your replies, then learn how to write, using correct words.' " M&D program was just ugly to me, that's my personal opinion and I already toll you why I think that.' " Toll? That's an amount of money you pay on a highway, etc.I think their program tells a story about the poor in Russia in1912. That's MY personal opinion and I already TOLD you, Skating is about personal opinion. Adios'.

  • @wwDevichan Guess what? I don't CARE what you CARE or think about this or any other competition. And I'm not about to tell you who I am or what I know about Figure Skating or anything else, for that matter.Oh and one more thing: I'm finished talking to you. Preach all you want . That's what's Skating is about-personal opinion and I'm finished with your abuse. Take it somewhere else!

  • @wwDevichan Oh come ON!It's easy to throw an 80 lb. child around. Natalia was a beautiful WOMAN!G&G made mistakes in the LP. Katia couldn't land a 3toe loop if her life depended on it.Sergei singled a salchow at the end. I'm not saying I don't like their skating but to say M&D were the start of ugly pair skating is ridiculous. They had the St. Petersburg School of dynamic, balletic skating not the Moscow School of "factory skating."Scott Hamilton was so biased,no other pair but G&G had a chance.

  • My comment about the 2 judges was that I couldn't understand how they could put M&D behind B&E. As for the two Russian pairs. It's really is apples and oranges for me. I was and am inlove with both performances even all these years later. If you break down each elements and move. I feel that there are some things G&G did better and some things that M&D did better. In a way it was a shame thaey had to compete against one another because I think they both deserved to win.

  • I know they are just place holder marks but cmon US and Aus judges, are you on crack?

  • @meredithlynnbilhartz I think they-M&D-were penalized for not being a happy family like G&G-w/a baby no less- as much as for the two different styles of skating. These two should've won. They said G&G's program was like watching a Skating Clinic. That's exactly what it was:-clinical.Would never begrudge Sergei 2nd medal knowing what I know now but this team should've won. Absolutely. Hamilton saying G&G HAD to be perfect. They weren't perfect and the crowd knew better. Listen to them during awards

  • Thank you so much for this really stellar vid. M&D won this. So appreciate what you find and share. ( I had a lot of VHS that either got lost in moving, or just deteriorated over time, but you have brought so much that I treasure back into my grasp.) Benben, thanx again

  • @ja3399 You're absolutely right. I've said before: this was the " Golden Era," of Skating. The 1980's through mid 1990's. Think doing away with School Figures was such a BIG mistake. Figures teach controlled landings, among other things-not just hurling oneself in the air hoping to come down on one foot. That's where Figure Skating got its' name. " FIGURE SKATING." Thanks for this post!

  • Thank you, Thank you! So nice to see this w/ a different perspective and superb video. Thanks again for the post!

  • Thank you SO much for uploading these great performances! I used to have the VHS os these, but lost them all when I moved to the new place. It's such a treat to be able to see them again and again. THANK YOU! =)

  • @Taty73 You're very welcome! ;-)
