  • At first he could be any "black soldier guy" but once he says, "let us see how our new COMMANDER PERFORMS in the BRIEFING", it is just Worf talking.

  • I really liked Nicholas Worth's performance as the Atreides mentat.

  • it' s very sad that awesome FMV for videogames are no longer trendy in the VG market...

  • @lordvivecjjj

Aye, its really crap to have entirely CGI animated - or worse - in game engine cutscenes. Its nice if the CGI is of top quality(Star Craft 2), but it really seems like they don't bother these days...

  • @SamusDrake developers tend to rely solely on the game engine, since they put so much effort into it...because nowadays games are ALL about ubergraphics... so sad :(

Starcraft 2 is an awesome game, but not JUST because of the ubergraphics...

  • @lordvivecjjj

I honestly felt underwhelmed by SC2. It was a solid effort, but certainly not worth waiting over a decade for. I just hope Blizzard gets around to releasing Diablo 3 before I'm cashing in my pension! o_O

  • @SamusDrake so the voices are true... Diablo 3 still ain't been released...

But I'm not actually dying after diablo3, because I have seen screenshots which shows it don't bear the heavy/horror atmoshpere it used to have, not anymore. It's more cartoonish just like they did with World of Warcraft, so if the situation doesn't change, I am truly not interested...

just saying, the ONLY reason I consider Dune2000 the best classic RTS EVER, is just it's atmoshpere... no one could match that

  • @lordvivecjjj

Aye. I've been playing D2K since 1998, and I absolutely love the cutscenes. I think the Ordos has the best ones "The universe! The Spice! FINISH IT! That...is...THE MISSION!". They just seem to be looking at the big picture ^_^

  • @SamusDrake yes. Most interestingly, even though Ordos are totally made-up, they are actually the most fascinating faction

  • @lordvivecjjj

Its said that House Ordos was briefly mentioned in a DUNE Encyclopeida, written years ago. Sadly, I've not managed to obtain a copy...

Having the mercenaries fight alongside you in the later Ordos missions is absolute gold! ^_^

  • @SamusDrake Totally agree on the mercenary part! I wish they made more missions with mercenaries, but I guess their coolness comes just from the rarity factor.

Anyway, I got a digital copy of the original Dune Encyclopedia, you want it?

About the Ordos, yes they are mentioned but are not described completely as the main houses, and this is said to be the reason of their "mysterious" attitude...

One last thing, their banner is actually the house Wallach's Banner, as clearly seen in Dune Enc

  • @lordvivecjjj shortly put, for being a made up house, they're made up pretty well

  • @lordvivecjjj

Where about's can you get the digital Dune Enc? That would make for a cool read! ^_^

  • @SamusDrake well, you can look for it on P2P sharing softwares, or you can add my MSN address and I will send it to you

  • @lordvivecjjj

I've just found it! A PDF of 536 pages! Fuck-a-duck! I now definitely must get an e-book reader!

Thanks for the nudge in the right direction, Armando! ^_^

  • @SamusDrake yes, it's the one. I' m willing to share knowledge about this amazing saga, which I often mention as "the Lord of the Rings of science fiction"

btw, very few ppl know, but even Star Wars has been loosely inspired by the Dune series... as George Lucas himself pointed out in an interview

  • @lordvivecjjj

I personally believe George has built Star Wars on the foundation of Dune. Herbert was a gentleman, though, and said although the similarities are many, he believed it was coincidence.

I reckon George has the entire Dune series in his writing desk draw! ^_^

  • @SamusDrake anyway, let' s face it: there is no challenge, DUNE is way better than Star Wars. I never liked star wars actually

  • @lordvivecjjj

I believe its because there is a much deeper and rewarding story within Dune. I enjoy Star Wars, but mostly for Empire Strikes Back. I used to also enjoy Return of the Jedi, but George has butchered that film to death now.

Sigh. I'm still waiting for Universal to release DUNE on Blu-Ray in the UK. It looses about 50% of what happened in the book, but theatrically its awesome to behold.

  • @SamusDrake you mean the '80 David Lynch movie Dune? That' s a good one. Sure, it looses almost everything from the book, quite like Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movie, but that doesn't undermine the fact that it's still a hell of a movie.

I haven't appreciated telefilms insteads (Children of Dune), but I barely like ANY telefilm at all.

  • @lordvivecjjj

Aye, DUNE is at the top of my Blu-Ray wish list(waiting for a UK release). Music, costumes, sets - brilliant! ^_^

I was content with the sci-fi channel Dune and Children of Dune tv series. They weren't great by long shot, but they did the job.

  • WORF FTW!!!

  • Nicolas Worth also played Marzaq From Command & Conquer Firestorm.

  • Premier Romanov could give the Atreides technology to produce Apocalypse tanks they would be worthy opponents to the Harkonnen and their Devastators.;)

  • the russians want to take the spice world too!?

    wat a surprise!!

  • Premier Worf Good to see you both alive

  • What is this from?

  • @tdr124 Emperor: Battle for Dune, last RTS from Westwood

  • In Caladan, you learn to swim by leaping straight into the ocean. With a flotation jacket and on a shallow beach, preferably.

  • So I take it the Duke is NOT A MERRY MAN!

    Yes, I couldn't help myself...

  • Comment removed

  • where is the turtle "Sam"? how could the premier not take him to Arrakis

  • worf's voice immediately gave it away.

  • Wow that is Romanov!

  • 0:04 isn't that dude the person who played Romanov in RA2?

  • yup

  • Yikes! I almost jumped off my chair when I heard that Worf was there! XD

  • its worf from star trek XD

  • HAHAHA it is Worf HELLZ YEAH. But tell me what is this game and where can I get it?

  • Mentat for atredies in Dune 2000 was John Ryes Davis (a.k.a Gimli)

  • But a black Duke Leto and a white Lady Jessica, would Paul turn out white or black?

  • Who can tell!?

  • @Gideon235 Well, this duke's name is Achilles, not Leto I , but even so, the novels do state that Paul's father had a more darker skin. Note, darker skin tone, not being black.

  • A black variant on Duke Leto? COOL!! Too bad that the movie and mini-series wern't that open in terms of casting-a black Duke Leto and white Lady Jessica would have been interesting.

  • Or have both of them being black.

  • house atreides have a light tan, Atreides complexion is often referred to as olive skinned, and they are of greek ancestry. Most greeks are light tanned in complexion.

  • PREMIER ROMANNOV!!!

  • NO WONDER HE SEEMS SO FAMILER!! what happend to him?

  • Unfortunately, Nicolas Worth had a heart failure. Unfortunately, we won't be seeing him in Red Alert 3.

  • wait he died? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Ordos must have finished him off, they wanted revenge for their defeat on Arrakis...

  • The black dude is from Fallout 2 voice cast team (Marcuse the Super Mutant voice) ;p

  • Also known as Michael Dorn, Worf from Star Trek Everything.

  • I actually lost a bit of respect for Koltrass after watching this video, the arrival of the duke seemed to take him by surprise, I thought as a warrior mentat that shouldn't happen

  • Hey, the mentat is Romanov from Red Alert 2.

  • la forge. XD

  • No, this is Worf. Levar Burton, not Michael Dorn, is Geordi Laforge.
