lol, people in america have unlimited data usage 100x the speed and waaayyy better rates and all for 30$ a month while we have 700MB of usage all the while being 100x slower and all for 80$ a month.... Australia needs to wake up! :D.

Yes we do. One of the iPhone plans for Telstra only has 5MB of included data PER MONTH! That is only maybe 2 websites before excess usage charges kick in. Telstra should have realised this. The cheapest Optus plan at least comes with 100MB included data.

Why do you even need that much data? I can't even make a dent on my 700mb included each month. Also their networks are significantly slower than ours, and highly congested.

They may have cheaper plans yes but they also pay for the calls they receive, not just make

i use 200MB on a data intensive month. Most people have access to a computer and only use their iphone when on the train or something

The american version is 'twice as fast' however for us aussies its just 'really fast'. does that mean america's networks are slower than ours, or there 3G is faster than ours?

It's because there's nothing for it to be "twice as fast" compared to. The iPhone 3G is twice as fast as the regular iPhone, but Aussies have no perspective on the speed of the iphone... also no-one's ever really used EDGE. We basically went straight from GPRS to 3G.
