Tom was not wearing a coat but had pulled his shirttail out of his waistband before the shooting to hide a pistol he had inside his pocket. There are other witnesses who testify that they had earlier seen the outline of a pistol in Tom's pants pocket and later Tom dropped his shirttail over it to conceal the outline of the handgun---Ike, to be "FAIR" u should have read the others who claimed what I just wrote.
Why would Doc and Wyatt waste ammunition on Tom if he was unarmed, when Billy and Frank who were armed, blazed away at the Earps? I can't see doc letting go of the good barrel of buckshot wasting it on and unarmed man when he could have turned and put out Frank and Billy's lights with a blast of good ole .00b..
Sure, Wyatt and Virgil lied about things in the hearing, but who else could have shot Morgan who was 6'2 straight through the shoulders? Billy Clanton who was laying on the ground? Frank McLaury who was bent over and trying to stay on his feet? Claiborne who fled? Ike who fled and claimed he was unarmed? I hope your not of the minority with the opinion that one of the Earps or Doc "accidentally" shot Morgan through the shoulders..pfft...yeah, he was armed.
Not true Ike..Laundry man PH Fallehy saw both of the mclaury boys fall. Frank's pistol was picked up by fallehy 5 feet from his body after the shooting. Fallehy said that the man who fell at the corner of third and fremont (Tom)still had his pistol in his hand when he fell with his back near a horse or a house. There were also two other witnesses who saw tom with a gun. The woman in the wagon at the post office and one other. Also Wyatt and Virgil testified to this.
