Yes that's true. Since his bike has some red color on it, and he asked at "Mario's Magic Shop" for a red boomerang bow tie since his bow tie is red, he must love red as his favorite color which is why he talked to his bike in the beginning of the movie saying "you're the best bike in the whole world" as he was wiping it with a cloth. Also, he told a police officer that his bike means everything to him which could be the reason why he doesn't like to ignore that his bike was stolen from him.

I agree.  I think Paul Reubens was of the opinion that kids are intelligent and if you credit them that, they can figure out this stuff on their own. It's not like the bikers were portrayed in a positive light, and Peewee himself didn't drink. His whole purpose was to tell people, including kids, to be yourself, regardless of what is going on around you or what people think.
