i have it. I was like is this the one where the mummy guy gets all in red n i see it in the trailer he does wow i have to see this one. looks freaking chick always just teasing n being evil. i mean i love chicks but thats it cuz of shit like this they get u into all kinds of shit. just do my deed n byyye byee. but yea i hav it how come ya'll can't find it?
The scene in which Darkly wakes with ants on him reminds me of Dali's Un Chien Andalou. (He used ants as a symbol for death in his paintings & the image of them in that film almost gave me nightmares. Granted I was much too young to have seen it at the time.) I wonder if the silver shoe and elephant are a nod to surrealism too, or just a way to end on a lighter note. Even the way Darkly is named is much the way surrealists would have done things, but maybe I'm reading too much into this. ( :
An amazing and intense film. Love the body painting, and Fraser's final scream was sustained for such a long time it was impressive. really hope that barb wire didn't hurt any, and poor Callie. Did anyone expect her to wear more clothes in a heatwave? I think Fraser may have pulled a little of Darkly into the second Mummy when he wields an ax with fire around him.
I think the reason why I like this film is because I feel that I am Darkly Noon, except for the religious part. I can relate to his loneliness, his frustration and his madness. The fighting scene at the end is something I wouldn't do, but I envision it on people who discomfort me. There are people out there who need to realize that there are lonely people who never get a break when it comes to love or emotion. That's my similarity to Darkly.
Yeah! God iw ant the DVD, I want extras! This is one of my all time favourite films, the imagery was just so amazing and and message so well done and thought-prokoving. I've never actually enjoyed a trailer after seeing its film other then this. Very cool ^^
It's been released on DVD in quite a few countries, especially around Europe, though the closest there is to a special edition is a rare French/Italian version that's in widescreen with director's commentary, but has subtitles "forced" onto the picture. (I pulled this trailer from that DVD.) We need a new special edition in remastered HD with 5.1/DTS sound with all the bells and whistles, dammit! And one for The Reflecting Skin, while they're at it!
I saw this movie when I was ten. I think it had an affect.

Philip Ridley, due to his lack of films, is overlooked, but what he does is superb!

The sound effect at the end of this clip, when he slams that pole into the wall, is the sound effect used for the zappers in Ghostbusters.

The movie was great and very unique but I can't call it horror movie ----- maybe drama/mystery/thriller not horror.
Brendan Fraser was brilliant as insane young man. Ashley Judd was beautiful and hot as always.
I love the main idea --- When your deepest desire becomes your worst nightmare...

Didn't you learn the lesson from the film? You need to paint yourself red, cover yourself in barb wire, and go mental.

The Canadian DVD is awful though - as in, you'd-be-better-off-buying-a-VHS-awful. So only get it if you're desperate.
