U kno what would really help TNA out, a live (to tape) special on CBS. CBS has already jumped on the MMA bandwagon with success. I think that if Spike could convince their sister station to run a TNA special it could it may help TNA out due to the cross promotion. WWE has the advantage of being on 4 different stations (5 if u count Telemundo). They have ample opportunity to advertise in front of different audiences on different stations.

The special has to have a big fight feel to it, much like an Elite XC special. So I'd put the champ Samoa Joe in there against someone who can really showcase a hard hitting technical style. My mind thinks of someone from New Japan like Yuji Nagata. But if they want to keep the talent in-house, they can go with Kurt Angle or AJ Styles. A big fight main event at the Hammerstein in NYC would be good because there would also be plenty of national media outlets around. They could easily sell out

Add to it a great undercard featuring NY favorites like the Team 3D and LAX (who absolutely tore the house down at the first house show in NYC), the MCMG who drew well for ROH last time they were in NYC, some top tier X Division action, and some special appearances by Sting, Booker T, and Jeff Jarrett. It could really be a great show to watch.

you act like UFC is the greatest MMA organization out there. Sure it has the most money and arguably the most recognizable. But Pride used to offer better competition. Elite XC is doing great ratings on CBS. And Affliction is really breaking ground and is critically acclaimed for providing some great matchups. MMA isn't just UFC.

And one can easily appreciate MMA and pro wrestling. I don't get where the blind loyalty comes from. I'm sick of it, from WWE to TNA to anything MMA

That's because everything's been done that can be done in pro wrestling today. There's nothing new on either TNA or WWE. WWE has been rehashing the same storylines for the past 20 years. TNA is just simply using ROH, Shimmer, ECW, WCW, WWE, and WEW talent.

The quality of the wrestling has gotten a lot better since then, but since there's a story to be told w/ wrestling, a lot of its appeal rests on how attractive the storylines and characters are. I do think WWE has a great story going with HBK and Jericho. But since it lacks shock value, its not gonna be a mainstream sensation like Austin vs McMahon was. That's basically what separates now from the Attitude era, shock value.

i think the reason why MMA is taking off so fast is because its so different from professional wrestling. Its the most dangerous legalized sport so naturally fans will flock to it. Plus you have a bunch of disenfranchised wrestling fans who grew out of the storylines and scripts aspect of pro wrestling and just want the ass kicking in its purest form. Nothing wrong with that, but the appeal of it is adult and mature in a sense. As humans, who doesn't wanna seem mature and dangerous.

MMA is a great alternative to wrestling. But it doesn't mean there isn't anything to enjoy about pro wrestling anymore. What wrestling needs to do to be seen as more mature and more appealing to the fans who ditched it for MMA, is to embrace its roots as a competitive sport. Less cartoony gimmicks and unbelievable wedding angles, and more competition based angles.

The most athletically gifted athlete in wrestling vs a former multi time World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist...

Not necassarily MMA in wrestling. But just more competition based stuff. Especially in the main event. Still have the entertainment aspect and comic relief somewhere lower on the card. But the main event can definately benefit from having the same type of big fight feel that MMA main events usually have. Look at the build to Joe vs Angle at Lockdown. TNA drew its largest gate on US soil due to the fact that they built it as two of the best going toe to toe with pride and the gold on the line

The thing is u bring that sort of stuff to wrestling it'll either make pro wrestling look worse or better. I agree, i think the MMA stuff somewhat killed that match. I'm not saying bring in MMA rules and everything, I'm just saying utilize that same spirit of competition to hype the main event. Where u have two of the best who've fought there way through the ranks go head to head to settle who's better. You can throw some storyline in there to help the build, but its a step backwards to have fans suspend disbelief too much. Use some realistic elements in the build.

And it doesn't always have to be about fighting through the ranks. Take Sting vs Joe for example. Its a realistic element within the realm of pro wrestling. You have Sting who's standing up for the old guard and is tired of the disrespectful youngsters and Joe who's the voice of the new generation wrestler who thinks its about time he's gotten his respect from the old guard. Its a great story that doesn't suspend disbelief. You still have your characters but it tells a believable story.

What the MMA movement has done is allow people to enjoy fighting without suspending disbelief. Look at the Jay Lethal/Sonjay Dutt/So Cal Val love triangle. Its a decent premise w/ two friends fighting over a girl, that happens all the time in real life. But within a matter of weeks, you expect us to believe Jay fell in love and was ready to marry So Cal. The have this ridiculous wedding that didn' get over w/ the crowd in attendance. Its just too much to expect a today's fan to believe.

alright my mistake. My "blind fan" reference mainly comes from people who are just loyal to one product whether it be anything MMA, to TNA to WWE. There's stuff to enjoy about everything out there. I'm not the most avid MMA fan but i can easily sit down and watch just for the spirit of competition. If i wanna be pulled into a storyline and just be entertained by the ring psychology or the insanity of the dives or whatever knowing full well how predetermined it is, i can watch pro wrestling.

The storyline looks as if they make Sonjay a con Artist who has been jelous of Lethal being with Sonjay all the while he cons Val into thinking he is the victim of Lethal who now looks paranoid thanks to Sonjay. I would explain this more and in depth but that would go way beyonf this Character count.
